Attic room! Colin the bar person made our stay. He looked after us and kept us entertained. Will return just for his humour and professional manor. Background music options were limited? Breakfast was delicious and plenty of choice. Location brilliant. Special thanks to Colin for making our weekend.

Lovely house, brilliant gardens with a great view over the river. Staff were pleasant apart from the dour faced barman who could brighten up a bit when serving customers and be a bit more "conversationalist " when serving. Venue is well laid out and smart, prices a bit on the expensive side at 5.80 for 2 small lemonades and a small soda water and lime. Overall a nice wedding reception.

Me and my family stayed here a few weeks ago and it was one of the best hotels we have stayed in in awhile. The location could not be more picturesque and peaceful, and the staff were very friendly, personable, professional, and accommodating and would always have a warm greeting whenever you passed them. We stayed in multiple places in Scotland on our trip and tried many restaurants, however the best meals by far were had right at the Ednam House. We would all highly recommend this hotel

Although the stay was pleasant the rooms were quite shabby and my room in the Orangery was grubby with stained carpets and a cracked wash basin, the window frames were very dirty and on checkout I was quite taken aback at the steep dog charge per day when it was quite obvious there had been no extra cleaning after the previous guests, two of our party were quite poorly from severe upset stomachs after eating in the hotel. On a plus point Colin the barman ( seemed to do everything man) and the breakfast staff were absolutely lovely

Stayed here for 4 days. Lovely old style hotel. With lovely plaster reliefs on some of the ceilings in the original parts of the house. Staff are wonderful, helpful, friendly and welcoming a real asset to the establishment. We dined in the restaurant every night. The food was extraordinarily good bearing in mind this is an AA 3 star hotel. The meals were well presented and delicious. The desserts were to die for. Highly recommend a visit here. Myself and my husband went for a weekend break we will definitely be back. The hotel was lovely when we arrived we were told that our room had been upgraded. It was huge with a claw foot bath in the room and a separate toilet and shower. The on site restaurant was so nice the food was delicious and the staff were so welcoming and happy to help with anything.

The worst crooks! Just 1 week before our stay the UK closed the borders because of the Covid situation. We asked to be reimbursed. Some other hotels with a non refundable booking accepted (for exemple Friars course house hotel), because it's not our fault if the British government decided to close the country. But Ednam house hotel refused. So we asked to remove the booking to a further date, in july. Ednam offered a rate which were twice more expensive that the normal rate.
Being flexible, we asked to remove to the 30th of October. It's not a high season and it's a night from Sunday to Monday, so all the hotels are nearly empty, but the rate offered was still twice the normal rate. Clearly, they just wanted to keep our money without trying to find a fair solution. I'm shocked that this kind of abusive practicies still exist. We are very disappoinred of this experience.

We stayed 13th November. I took my elderly mother to Kelso for her birthday and stayed at Ednam house hotel. She was thrilled with the room, the hotel and the staff as was i. I would say bar area could be a little more inviting and cosy but still fine. But i have to say that the cooked breakfast i had the next morning was the best breakfast i've ever had at any hotel, it had everything you could think of and cooked/presented to perfection. Varieties of fruit etc for continental breakfast was vast too. I would definitely return. Thanks to all at the hotel A.Brown

Great location with a very warm and friendly staff with great dinner! My family stayed for one night here and we very much enjoyed it. The location is set in a very charming town, and the setting on the river is absolutely stunning. The lady at the front desk were very welcoming upon reception, the dinner was excellent and the bartender was a blast - couldn't have asked for better service at dinner.
We brought two young children and they felt very welcomed here. NOTE: duck is highly recommended choice of plates. Even though we never got our breakfast after a one hour wait, I'm still giving this a 5 star rating since I recognize that there is significant stress and demands on the hospitality industry - mistakes happen, and we were just happy to be out and about.

I don't like to leave negative posts, I'd prefer not to comment. But. The Ednam House Hotel is an exception. The room was generous with a huge bathroom and dressing space with beautiful double aspect views of the Tweed. The room was shabby in need of repairs and redecorating. The bathroom was well appointed, but water trickled from the taps. Filling the free standing bath was an exercise in patience.
Lots of patience. Breakfast was average to poor and the staff were curt without being rude, but no evidence of the warmth and welcome I encountered everywhere else. Kelso was fabulous and really worth visiting. I'd go again tomorrow, but I would not stay at the Ednam House Hotel.
