Tillmouth Park Country House Nestled in the Secret Kingdom of North Northumberland midway between Edinburgh and Newcastle, Tillmouth Park is one of the region's very best kept secrets. This is a Country House Hotel nestling within the Scottish Borders that, although a short drive from the A1, is a place far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Tillmouth Park is a place of great natural beauty, a place of peace and serenity, a place of romance and above all, a place where you can relax, be comfortable and feel warmly welcomed.
Services
Tillmouth Park is a privately owned country house built in the Victorian Gothic style as a private family home. Nowadays, with its own individual style and grace, Tillmouth Park offers a peaceful retreat from a busy life. The Scots destroyed Twizel Castle, a medieval castle, in 1496 in support of Perkin Warbeck.
All fourteen bedrooms have contemporary bathrooms and are individually appointed with antique and period furniture whilst still offering the expected modern amenities with tea tray, toiletries and bathrobes provided. To experience true luxury, elect to stay in one of the State Rooms furnished with a sumptuous four poster bed and offering a spacious seating area with unbeatable views.
As Tillmouth Park is a historic building with lots of stairs, and because of the diverse design of all guest rooms, we strongly recommend that you speak to our receptionists so that we can match you with your ideal room. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with luxury toiletries provided, remote control colour television, telephone, hairdryer, dressing gown, refreshment tray and trouser press.
At the T-junction with the A68 turn right then first left, which takes you back onto the A698. Continue along the A698, which is the Kelso by-pass, and at the roundabout turn right, again along the A698 to Coldstream. Go straight through Coldstream and continue through Cornhill-on-Tweed and the village of Donaldson's Lodge.

Always an excellent stay. Superb staff, food and accommodation. You can't beat watching deer and hares pottering on the lawn. Give them a call and book in, you won't disappointed! (Website says hotel is closed but it is very much open for business!)

Absolutely quaint! Warm inviting "home" with class and elegant decor. Staff is welcoming and proper, making you feel at home. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The food is exquisitely prepared. My wife and I love this place and plan to revisit. Or retire near by.

We - father, mother, two teenage sons, little girl - stayed here in 1969 and will never forget it. We were on a tour round England and Scotland in our Morgan in the winter, and came across Tillmouth Park in the dark when we were desperate for somewhere to stay. We had never known anything like it; South Africa didn't - and doesn't - run to Country Houses.

It remains a wonderful memory of the kind of luxury from the past that one only reads about nowadays, though I see that very little has changed - thank you from a drought-stricken Johannesburg.
