Booked as a cheap last minute trip to the Isle of Wight, and was only for a night so wasn't expecting much. Must say we were very pleasantly surprised hotel room was very spacious with a gorgeous view of the sea. The pool was a very welcome addition and we had it to ourselves when we visited both times. The breakfast was lovely and was included in the price. The hotel is a few minutes walk (on a hill) to Shanklin beach or follow the cliff path into town. We will definitely be booking again, the next time we visit the island.

Stayed here on dbb for a week. Food was great, lovely and piping hot. Not fine dining more pub style but fab with huge portions. Friendly service. Our triple room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The red swirly carpet on the upstairs landing didn't match the more sedate blue carpet on the ground floor and the red carpet could do with replacing.

The room was clean and warm, the staff were hardworking and friendly. Those are the only good points! The room was a superior double but it was very dated with furniture that definitely needs replacing as every time I opened any drawer on the chest one of the handles came off. We booked in for three nights over Christmas as they advertised food and entertainment until late.
The food was average but service mostly good. Christmas Day & Boxing Day dinner was 1pm and we had a ticket that entitled us to a Christmas bap in the evening. We went down at 7pm for the entertainment and food, the baps were either pulled pork or halloumi, the pulled pork was smothered in cranberry sauce so I asked at reception what other food was available, absolutely none, and being Christmas Day no where was open, Boxing Day we went into town and bought a sandwich ready for the evening as no other food other than the same baps was being provided.
The late entertainment consisted of a singer Christmas Eve who finished at 10pm and then just backing music, the band didn't turn up Christmas Day so one of the guests did a set, again finished at 10pm, Boxing Day a good singer on as entertainment but he informed us he had been told to finish at 9pm due to the noise disturbing some guests. How can they expect guests to be satisfied with just a bap from lunchtime until breakfast the next day! What late entertainment?

Very comfortable spacious room. It was a proper family room with two areas for the beds, right at the top of the hotel so a great view of the channel! Nice and warm, we were there for a party and the staff were excellent, so helpful. The pool was nice, not huge but good fun for the children. Location is excellent, a two minute stroll down to the sea. Also I left my phone charger, so thank you for finding it and sending it back!
