The Castle Hotel, an old coaching inn, stands on the site of a Cistercian abbey and used to consist of two famous hostelries, The Castle and the 15th Century King's Head. The Castle was by far the larger and in more recent times has had an attractive face lift of local granite and Ruabon brick and is now one of Conwy's most photographed buildings.
The Hotel has had a fascinating past and has made an important contribution to Conwy's history, playing host to many famous people, such as Telford, Stephenson, Wordsworth and the Queen of Romania who lunched in the restaurant whilst visiting Llandudno.

Fantastic service. We booked for one night as a last minute get away and we would definitely recommend! The hotel is gorgeous, the food was amazing and the room itself was very clean. I used to work in housekeeping myself and the room we had was spotless. Great customer service from Shannen from housekeeping, very helpful. Would highly recommend a visit.

Went for afternoon tea. Was taken to a table with 3 settings when there was 4 of us. Reminded them that 2 were vegetarian This was a surprise to the person in the kitchen Cakes were nothing like the photos on the web site. I imagine that they were brought from the local spar shop and put on a plate. Were not made particulary welcome. Only good thing was there was plenty of tea.

We often visit Conwy as it's just a 30 min drive from home. It's always an uplifting experience with so much to do and see and this usually includes a coffee somewhere and perhaps a bite to eat. We've stayed at The Castle and eaten here a couple of times too so, with it being a family birthday we thought we'd enjoy a tasty lunch out. We like that the lovely staff wear a uniform and looked smart.
For us, being warmly and politely greeted by a smartly dressed person before be seated is nice, and offers a great start to any occasion. We chose the bar restaurant. The menu is a fairly simple affair but with enough choice for everyone. We both had a starter and main course with a drink and was all very nice, served on warmed plates. It was quite busy for a Monday lunch which was great to see and we were happy to pay for the inclusive service tip. We followed up our lunch with a walk around town before returning home. Very nice!

Nice restaurant with consistently good food. Parking out front is restricted to 60 minutes, so best to park somewhere else. No baby changing facilities and there are a couple of steps to access the building which could make wheelchair access difficult. Some rooms are much nicer than others to eat in - the bar is lovely and cosy. I would recommend asking for a table there. Unfortunately, in the lounge we couldn't help but notice a big mouldy patch on the ceiling. I would appreciate being given the chance to add a tip myself if I want to when given the card machine. Didn't much like a 10% service charge being added automatically.

Without a doubt one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at fantastic room very clean, comfortable and well appointed with many extra little touches that we loved. Food was just as good we had the full Welsh breakfast and cannot fault at all very tasty. Staff could not have been better friendly and helpful. Will be staying again as soon as possible.

Centrally locates, friendly staff, free parking and great food. Very walkable within the walled city. Definitely worth a splurge to make things easy. The on-site restaurant and bar offer really good food options, special desserts and decent cask beer offerings. The B for breakfast is quite good and plentiful. Rooms are unique but modern and offer what you would expect. I would return to this place

The food is fine but can't say the same about the hotel. Even though the bed was made, there were used tissues and dirty cups by the bed. The filter in the kettle was moldy. It was so disgusting, I've never seen anything like it. The bathroom fixtures were all rusty. The front desk was apologetic and took care of the trash but nothing to be done about rusty bathroom fixtures.

Terrific little hotel in the ol dotwn of Conwy. We booked the Swit Caer Rhun and I'm very happy we did. It is more expensive, but not crazy and for the money, it sounds like you get a lot more. We had a sitting room plus bedroom and a detached bathroom. Hotel is very quaint, pretty old, but historic feeling. Staf is friendly and helpful. All in all - very good.

Perfect hotel in the center of town. Easy access to the train station, shopping, eateries, sightseeing, the castle and quay. The staff is ALL wonderful! They go out of their way to make you feel welcome & comfortable. The room is small and the bathroom is super small. The bath plumbing is good but not great. The breakfast that is included is great!
The omelette and the pork sausage was the best on our trip so far. Despite small room and tiny bathroom, we would come back because of location, staff and the fact that it's a nice hotel.

For a special lunch or dinner you can't go wrong, but I do prefer the atmosphere in the bar if I am honest. You can get carried away with the cost if you include wine, but as I said, as a treat if fab. My only criitisism is that in the evenings if you get a crowd of locals in the bar it can be a bit rowdy and the staff seem incapable of asserting themselves. For me, lunch is best.

Whilst I have never stayed at the castle hotel I have eaten in both the bar and restaurant on many occasions and cant recommend it highly enough. Both the restaurant and Bar pride themselves on serving the best local welsh produce. They offer a 'brasserie' style menu which changes according to the seasons which ensures the best and freshest produce.
They also offer a weekly Fixed price menu and a Sunday lunch menu which always features the delicious local Welsh beef. Always a lovely atmosphere and very friendly and welcoming staff.
