The current owners, Peter and Katharine Smith, have spent the past 20 years restoring and converting the Manor into a welcoming family run three star country house hotel. Stayed four nights and had a large suite. It might not be to everybodies cup of tea. The hotel is an old mansion undergoing renewal in places. The windows in the room were probably original so let in a draft, we dare not touch them with fancy metal work dating back 100+ years. Leaky windows gave you a very good morning chorus. The grounds are substantial.

The double bed was soft so if you have back issues you might have to sleep on the edge. Think the hotel dates to the period of soft beds, modern hotels have firm beds. My only real complaint about the bedroom. The suite itself was good, plenty of room. Breakfast was extensive with a large choice. It was served at the table so if you wanted something particular you need to ask at the time of ordering, like yoghurt.

The full Welsh breakfast was filling. It was May and they were on their 3/5 course dinner taster menu. Think from June that goes up in what's on it. At 60 per head at the time expensive and choice on the menu was not that great if you were going to eat in everyday. Probably if staying again, we would eat in town some days. The choice may have changed now.

Only an issue if you stay several nights and run out of options on the menu. Did not try the Sunday roast, we left that day. Dinner wasn't served everyday when we booked the hotel. Sunday lunch had moved to the evening by May, plan was to have it at lunch before we left. Moving feast. Suspect the Sunday roast is outstanding. We'd probably stay again.

Beautiful old Manor house with high end dining. Excellent service and comfortable rooms. Located in lovely grounds right by the river.

No experience of the interior, but the surroundings of the hotel are so well kept and wide ranging that we visit it for walks and access to a location with short stay options in Chalet's. The experience is always rewarding, summer or winter. Builth Wells is a beautiful and welcoming small town, and the Llanelwedd site of The Royal Welsh Shows is an immense benefit to everyone who visits.

Wow. What can I say! We just left this beautiful manor house and from the moment we arrived we was treated like royalty! The friendly staff are excellent and made us feel extremely welcome. The manor itself is outstanding and the grounds (including the swing bridge lol). The evening meal was delicious! Including breakfast this morning, Thank you ever so much for a lovely stay! We will be back for Christmas! Xx

A wonderful place for a relaxing stay. We enjoyed every minute of our time at this superb hotel. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The hotel has been renovated to a very high standard and the decor is so tasteful. It really is affordable luxury. We have booked to come again. The grounds are lovely, with the river running through them. It is an excellent location for exploring Mid-Wales. THANK YOU EVERYONE.

This hotel has two very strong plus points. One is superb location. The second and even better is the friendly and professional staff. During our stay, the chef was away but one meal we had here was as really enjoyable. Perhaps the management would like to look at the long road between the hotel and entrance. It is quite narrow and there only two places where the vehicles passing in the opposite direction have enough space to cross. With a culvert on one side of the road, it is tricky to find space to cross.

I really enjoyed my two night stay at Caer Beris. The location was easy to find and the grounds are well looked after. The staff were all fantastic and made me feel very welcome. The range of services available were great including breakfast, a bar and Sunday dinner. The decor is really fantastic and sets the scene for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

The range of paintings and ornaments around the lounge are diverse and really adds to the atmosphere. The rooms are kept in fantastic condition with plenty of mod cons including great Wi-Fi signal throughout the hotel. I felt safe and comfortable throughout my stay. The price was very reasonable for the level of service provided. I was able to enjoy walking around the grounds and making the most of my time there.

Breakfast was really tasty and there are places to get food from nearby as well (local town is about 5-10 minutes away by car). I didn't have any issues finding somewhere to park. I enjoyed my stay and can't wait to go back again one day in the future.

Wow wow wow, what an incredible place! We feel so honoured to have stayed here. The home itself is a stunning old manor house with spacious rooms and gorgeous views. They have decorated everything with such care and attention to detail. Everywhere you look is picture perfect and yet homey! The grounds are also immaculate, we especially loved the river walk which takes you around the estate!

The staff are so kind and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Each person we met was so welcoming and lovely. When we met the owners, we realized it was a trickle down effect. They were SO kind and thoughtful! They take such pride in the home, rightly so! What incredible people. They made us feel so welcome and treated us like royalty. It is a beautiful and happy place. We were so impressed with every aspect of our stay and hope to be back very soon. Thank you Caer Beris!

We were so impressed with Caer Beris hotel. From the idealic grounds to the scrumptious breakfast, the attention to detail was incredible. The staff and owners could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We are beyond impressed and will definitely be back. You must stay here if nearby.
