Decent place, relatively clean although detailed inspection reveals cleaning could be more thorough. Bed was a little uncomfortable after a full night in it, however I still managed to sleep ok. Next to a road so there was a lot of traffic noise which kept me up a little. Very polite, friendly and helpful staff. I'd definitely stay again for the price

Momentarily stayed here 2 weeks ago in room #3. It was late by the time I got to Reading so there was limited availability in the area. Checked in & paid with the night porter and went up to the room. Opened the door to a very basic room but I half expected that anyway. Sat down to send some emails and decided some fresh air was probably needed but the window handle was broken off.
As I returned to the bed to unpack I could hear some shuffling noises, figured it was the room next door but this got louder and louder and was in the walls and under the floor boards. It then became apparent this was not shuffling but scratching of rodents. At that I packed my things and went down to the night porter and told him they had a rodent infested room.
He didn't protest or want to examine my concerns as if to note to himself that it was no surprise and this wasn't the first time they've had this complaint most likely. I was informed by night porter refund would go through. I called the hotel next day to ensure this but no answer and left a voicemail and since have not received a call back or refund. Absolute disgrace. This place should be shut down and inspected by health inspectors.

Lovely welcoming staff, cosy feel. Some fittings a little lived in but quite reasonable overall and poor mattress. Few hairs behind bath taps and scale in kettle and on shower but otherwise very clean. Parking access via busy barrow side street to a very narrow alley which was difficult to manoeuvre the car into.

I stayed at this hotel for business purposes, I had a 4 hour drive and trying to get to the car park was a nightmare, an alley way in between 2 houses and only 4 parking spaces, checked in at 6.30pm to be told no food is available, wasn't offered any snacks or room service, so my food allowance was wasted. The rooms were nice and clean and well equipt. however only got 2 hours sleep due to the level of noise and banging and my window was on level with fans of some sort.
The only thing that gave this a 3 star was the breakfast I had in the morning. there was plenty of choice, hot fresh and I was starving after not eating so I made the most of it.

A small family owned and operated hotel that's just a short walk from restaurants, pubs, a casino or the river. The owners go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. You really feel like one of the family when you stay at the Thameside hotel, not just a room number with a credit card like at the big chains. I highly recommend the Thameside hotel to anyone visiting the Reading area.
