Where to start. Arrived in the dark. Carrying our bags to the front door I tripped over the 'damaged' wheelchair ramp and ended up sprawled in the dimly lit porch way. Eventually picking myself up rang the doorbell to gain entrance. We reported the fall to the receptionist who thought it funny and seemed aware that the slope was not in best condition. Went to our room.
It was cold. Someone had turned off/down the heating. Hannah the receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful and put an electric heater in our room. Nice large room. Ensuite very good. Decor seems dated to me. Single glazed windows. Condensation on the INSIDE of the windows in the morning. Havent seen that in a while. Looking at the windows I didn't feel that opening one would be a good idea.
So no ventilation in the room. Had a meal in the large hotel restaurant that evening. Tables well spaced. Very good fish and chips. The two breakfasts we had there were very good. Nice selection. We were in Southwold for a birthday break. Hotel is on the edge of the town centre, a 10 min walk from the seafront. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and I think it was OK value wise. Would I stay again. Possibly, yes.

We stayed at the Blyth hotel late November when the weather was pretty cold. Upon arrival we were greeted well from reception and told which room was ours upstairs. Entering the room it was only small as expected we booked the lower rate. The room was clean and a nice welcome tray with tea/ coffee and biscuits. Everything needed for a nights stay.
However the heating in the room had not even been turned on prior to our arrival so it was absolutely freezing. I turned the radiator on immediately, something the hotel could have easily done. Unfortunately as well as the lack of heating (it was off in the hallways as well) the windows didn't close properly as old and wooden so there was a terrible draft. Thankfully there was a mini fan heater in the room which enabled us to stay warm.
As it was cold we spent most of the evening in our room watching tv, unfortunately our room was also above the kitchen and the music was loud causing the walls to vibrate. Even after the bar closed at 9pm and we told reception about the noise the music could still be heard. Going down for breakfast I was looking forward to a nice cooked meal however at 8.15 they were still setting up.
The breakfast room/ bar was also very cold and again minimal heating on. Breakfast was ordered and arrived not the best but ok. Hot drinks and yoghurts/ toast also available. The staff were young and lively which is lovely but singing along to music first thing in the morning when people are trying to enjoy their breakfast is not ideal. We got a half hearted apology about the temperature when mentioned on check out. Best bit was the hotel being pet friendly so we could take our dog with us.

Dirty Dated and Dingy. When you enter a bathroom of a hotel you don't expect to be greeted by a room that needs a good dusting and a brown ring around the seal on the floor of the toilet. Didn't eat here. Bar was closed each night allegedly by nine but in our two sleeps, never saw it open at all. This could be so nice. Great location. Actual property a massive letdown.
