Horrible breakfast, uncomfortable beds, freezing rooms, and no staff at night: if you are unlucky enough to need assistance for any reason, you won't find it here. The owner, Steven Fellows, writes bizarre, nonsensical replies to all guests: I think this says it all about what kind of "establishment" the Ben Sheann is. Stay literally anywhere else. It'll be nicer. ETA: The review from the hotel owner is categorically false.

No torch was provided. We stayed three nights, so we had the breakfast on the two days prior. It's not "blackmail" to note that this place is a dump, and that in a powercut, the hotel owner made no accommodations at all for guest safety. Stay at your own risk.

As previous reviewer. booked well in advance, but as soon as the free cancellation had expired, was emailed to say no bar, ect. Possibly the most unwelcome I have ever felt on arrival to a "hotel" Only saw one member of staff, room was freezing, but did warm up a little. Had to keep my coat on for breakfast it was so cold. We we're the only 2 in the hotel. And I'm not surprised. Won't return.

Bit disappointing, first thing you smell once you entered the place is the cold smoke of decades. The place seems a little run down, the windows are so old they almost rot, so the whole room heating is very ineffective. The ensuite bathroom looks more like the one in a prison cell. The person at the reception seems very much disturbed by guests showing up. Not recommended at all.

Good location. Ensuite room with edwardian style bath. Breakfast unfortunately was a little overcooked for my liking. Smelt strange in lobby, maybe just painted or the cleaning products used but i didn't like the smell. Not double glazed so a lot of traffic noise throughout the night.

This place is not a hotel. It is running a scam getting to people book and pay for a room and once the free cancellation period has expired messaging to explain they have no bar, no chef, no restaurant. They then refuse to cancel and steal your money. From reading other reviews it seems that if you turn up it is dirty and you have to do your own bedding - it's really a hostel not a hotel.

When I called reception after trying to cancel online, the receptionist was monosyllabic and totally unhelpful. I've still been charged for a room I didn't stay in despite cancelling by 3 different methods 3 days in advance.

Loved it here. Very friendly people, rooms are clean. Due to Covid-19 they decided not to do room service, which was fine with us. We were supplied with all the necessities. Situated in a lovely place in the national Park and close to cycling paths and walking paths.

Fella looked mightly confused when we arrived at 4pm. I had to explain we were 'guests'. Showed us to our room, which was clean. Bathroom was for Borrowers and although there was no biscuits there was condoms(?!). Breakfast was nice and served with speed. The wee lady makes good cheesy scrambled egg. Cheap and cheerful except for the morose bloke when we turned up.

We had a warm welcome, hosts were very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were tidy and clean, and the surroundings around the hotel completed our stay. Would highly recommend to families and those seeking a relaxing holiday!

The Queen room is exactly as the picture. Very boutique & comfortable. Fabulous, freshly cooked breakfast too. Will definitely be back & have no hesitation in recommending.

We stayed over Christmas and the new year to visit family. The owners were very warm and welcoming people. The room was fantastic, clean warm and well decorated with awesome views. The breakfast was delicious. We travelled with two young girls and they loved their stay, one saying it was like a castle. The evening meals were home cooked and the restaurant was a great place to eat.

The bar has beer on tap and the locals that visited were great to talk to. This is a great place to stay, having the facilities feeling more like a hotel than a B and B which we loved. Thank you and look forward to staying again. The Boswell's
