We had a lovely weekend stay here through Secret Escapes. The package included the 8 course taster menu. our favourites were the mushroom soup and the beetroot dish which includes a beetroot ice cream. The staff are very friendly & helpful. There's a leaflet of local walks from the hotel and it has its own observatory open on special dates.

We attended the 'Stargazing & Moonwatch' event last night, and it was just incredible! Roy was so friendly and informative, and we were so fortunate to have such a clear night sky! From holding a piece of moon rock, to taking some stunning photos on our very own smartphones using the impressive telescope, the whole evening was just amazing! Would totally recommend this place. We hope to be back!

Experimental, quality food at an affordable price. Great vegetarian options too! All staff were friendly, especially at reception and the bar where they went out of their way to improve our stay. Rooms are spacious and clean. Also, some rooms are dog friendly, so suited us well. Plenty of good walks from the doorstep. We'll be back!

Comfortable, cozy hotel in a charming location, good for walkers and dog friendly. The restaurant breakfasts and dinners were good quality, although it was slightly disappointing to have the same small menu on the two nights we stayed. Having said that, the pheasant sausages, burger and fish pie were excellent! The standard room was comfortable and warm, and immaculately clean. Very nice, responsive staff too! The Observatory behind the hotel is a joint venture with the astronomers and well worth booking a place.

Cannot rate this place highly enough. Staff are fantastic, the food should be awarded Michelin Star status! It was phenomenal. Everything was superb. Only wish this was our local rather than our holiday destination! No where in the area can compete! Well done to all who work to make this place a success!

Pretty damn good! We had a taster menu here and an observatory experience. The venue is stunning and the ambience adds a lot to the taste. The food is beautifully presented and pretty good. The cauliflower soup in particular was divine. Service was excellent- very attentive and friendly, and just working so hard to ensure you had the best experience.
I can't quite bring myself to give the food 5 stars because I think the presentation was way in front of the taste and substance. The portions were exceptionally small so after 5 courses I then snacked on the way home, and mistakes were made. Still a great meal. Having said that I would DEFINITELY come here again and probably go for the 7 course taster menu. And we love the green ethos of the business. We watched the tracking solar panels for a while. Fantastic venue and a must visit if you are innthe area.
