The age of elegance is not past; it still lives on at this lovely old manor house where two generations of the Varley Family have created a special atmosphere of warmth and comfort. Once the distinguished residence of the descendants of William Marshall, Earl of Pembroke, founder of the historic 12th Century Cartmel Priory, Aynsome still echoes with the character and traditions of that bygone era.
Located in the still untouched Vale of Cartmel and with views southwards to the Norman Priory, meadowlands and woods, Aynsome Manor represents an ideal centre from which to explore the richness of the English Lakes or the hidden delights of the nearby coastline with its fascinating estuaries and inlets.

The service was impeccable with extremely down-to-earth service, all our waiters loved conversation and were always happy to help and crack jokes. The owner, Chris, is such a genuinely kind person. We loved staying up chatting with him and he told us all these stories while introducing us to England. The environment is also very safe and gorgeous.
For breakfast, the freshly cut fruit salad was wonderful, although the green grapes were very sour. I wouldn't recommend the fish, as it has an overly fishy taste, but maybe that's just me. The dinner was spectacular. The chicken and lamb terrine was slightly dry, but pairing it with the jam was nice. The asparagus was very tender and so was the salmon, with that perfect amount of crisp to the skin. The guineafowl was a little too tough since the meat was medium well-done. The peas and beets were served in a great portion. The presentation overall was beautiful.

One of the best rooms we have stayed in and the best service. The room was clean, smelt fresh and overall ambience was spot on. Bathroom was spotless. The whole room and stay had a homely feel which was so nice as we were quite far from home. We even tried to extend our stay because of how good it was, unfortunately it was fully booked. Highly recommend staying here if you are going to lake district.
Its only a short drive away from lake Windermere. The free breakfast included was exquisite. The staff were super polite and the service was incredible. Forgot the name of gentleman who checked us in, but he definitely made a difference to our whole stay. We will most definitely be going back here on our next trip to windermere.

We were staying at Aynsome Manor Park which is not part of the hotel but right next to it. Our car broke down and the staff were absolutely amazing giving us coffee as well as juice and biscuits for the kids while we were waiting. They were incredibly thoughtful and we will definitely try to stay there when it is no longer fully booked. If any staff are reading this thank you for all your help hopefully see you soon!

Had a beautiful meal here tonight with 2 friends who have been staying here for years. Very friendly staff beautiful dining room very country house. The food was as good as always and I had the best chocolate torte I have ever had, even hubby who has never fancied one before said it was perfect. They have their Covid care well organized with certificate as well.
