The County Hotel

Awful. Walked into reception and immediately met with a smell of curry. I expected the Receptionist to be smartly dressed but no, he was also wearing a wooly hat. Rooms are dark and tight fitting. Fitting everyone in with our things was a squeeze. We weren't made aware of any laundry services or kitchen facilities. Thank goodness our stay there wasn't long.

Room was unclean, provided with cups tea and milk but no kettle, there were rubbish from the previous guest in the room and they weren't serving food. Lady on the bar was lovely though.

The bathroom was good and the shower was really good. They had a well stocked bar. Breakfast was ok, simple and basic but I would however not call it continental, just a few cereals, breads and sundries. The bed had a crinkly plastic sheet on it which did not inspire confidence and made noise every time you moved. The entire building had squeaky floorboards, not a few here and there, everywhere, it was like being inside a dogs chew toy at times. There was no wifi and no food being served during my stay which was disappointing. Decor in my room was modern, clean and tidy. Upon arrival the staff were very polite.

We parked our 17 seater minibus in the main car park outside the hotel and it was stolen. Their response is that they said their system is only turned on when motion is detected, and that it is also an old system and was not recording at the time of the theft. If you want your vehicle to get nicked for insurance purposes this hotel is a great spot!

Really nice well presented hotel. Room were small but bed was comfy and clean. Nice reception area and bar. Nice lady who booked us in was really nice and well mannered. Cost us 40 for the night, free parking, spots quite tight tho as it gets busy. Only negatives i can say is that we had room 38, tv was really tiny and it was really close to some kind of rechaging generator or something as every 20mins or so it kicked out noise but it didnt wake me up.

We had parked a 17 seater minibus at the front of the Hotel which was stolen. When asking the for security footage, we were told 2 days later that it only works when there is movement as it is an old system, and was not working at the time of the theft. Second time staying here and second time we have had a bad experience, this time being a lot worse.

Nice looking place although 250 to book a function room a bit expensive. Then the staff moaned about the volume of the dj which wasn't even loud. They wanted 1200 to put on food for the guests and got it done by an outside company.

Went here yesterday for a friend's 70th retirement party! The venue had a really nice outside part and the sun was out so the summer lawn games were in full flow! The inside was a little tired I thought. and the bathroom we had access to wasn't the greatest. but it was a beautiful eve, and the staff were really friendly!

Haven't set foot in this place since I was 18, when the lounge bar was very lovely, didnt see that tonight as I was in the function room. A pint of diet Pepsi was 3.90 I was told by one guest . The toilets though spotlessly clean and modern we're, by 10pm swimming with water in the sink area and floor. That said, the small dancefloor was enjoyed by many and the seating, though a little tired looking, was comfortable. It was a really lovely wedding reception, I would use this venue again.

After reading reviews I was a bit wary to stay, but it's a comfortable room freindly staff will definitely stay here again. Ample parking extra car park over the road. In the process of up grading our room was clean and used for sleeping. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. My choice of hotel when I come to Walsall, from now on.

Came here for a wedding reception. The reception room is quite pleasant and clean and the bar is reasonably priced. Staff behind the bar were very nice and friendly. Toilets were a little worn out. There is quite alot of parking too in anticipation for large events. The food served was nice, and there is a small grass area outside which was pleasant to stand in to get some fresh air although rather close to a busy road.

I didn't stay in the hotel overnight having read some negative reviews but I know some people who did and they said that the rooms are in need of a bit of renovation and new carpet but were otherwise fine and good for the price.

The hotel looks welcoming on arrive. Staff are helpful on reception. Decor is nice and warm in the bar and reception area. Rooms are cosy. Very comfortable beds. Bar staff at the reception I attended were not bad but a bit of training could help to just make them that little better. I was a a bit taken back at the prices as they were just high or made up as the night went on. Location was nice and clean.
