Jesmond Dene House We are in an enviable location; almost in the country yet still in the city. We have space, peace and room to breathe. We don't take our good fortune for granted. All this makes us even more passionate that our guests are well looked after; above all, feel at home. Because it is a home, albeit quite a grand one. As an independent hotel, we can make our own rules.

We can be flexible to meet our guests' wishes. We listen to what you say and do our best to accommodate. We're passionate about detail, too. Often it's the little things that make the difference.
Services
Comfortable and uncluttered, our 40 bedrooms are designed to help you relax whether you're in Newcastle for a relaxing break or for business. Colours are rich, furnishings are sleek, and there's often a surprise - a window seat, a leafy view, a private terrace. Splashes of silk and velvet add a dash of luxury.
Fern is an upmarket neighbourhood Dining Room and Bar, the emphasis is on creating fine, flavoursome food where there's both respect and passion for the ingredients. The cooking is skilful, generous, and heartfelt with dishes inspired by the rhythm of the seasons. Its food that is about simplicity, craftsmanship and honesty, a little artistry, a lot of love.
The Bar at Fern is the perfect place to eat, meet, drink and celebrate. With a range of cocktails, beers and spirits, the bar has a relaxing atmosphere for you to enjoy a drink whether it's after work, before dinner or meeting with friends. Serving informal food Wednesday-Saturday from 12:30 - 21:30.
There is no more delightful and quintessentially British institution than afternoon tea and nowhere better to enjoy it than Jesmond Dene House. The ritual of tea served in fine bone china and three tiered stands overflowing with cakes, dainty finger sandwiches and our signature freshly baked, still warm scones.

This is my choice when staying in Newcastle as it's quieter and away from clubs etc. Great parking too. It can get busier later in the week with afternoon teas etc. The food is good and staff friendly. The rooms are comfortable, and I prefer being in the main house which has more atmosphere. I enjoy walking into Jesmond to the bars and restaurants or taking exercise in the Dean. A lovely setting, green and peaceful. I've dropped a star because I think the food and drink is expensive.

Attended a wedding evening. Bride and groom had an amazing day, and the atmosphere reflected that. Food was lovely, drinks around 6 a pint or single spirit. However was pleasantly surprised to find a cordial and water only cost 50p. The grounds and building itself were a mix of old and modern. Can't comment on the bedrooms, however I've been told they were lovely.

Great stay! We were at a family wedding. Very professional, friendly and helpful staff We will certainly return and experience the restaurant for an evening meal which we were unable to do as we were part of the wedding party. Menu looks great.

I chose this hotel for the last night of our honeymoon prior to my husband going for surgery. Lovely location with a beautiful dene to the rear of hotel. The food is amazing. The service is excellent nothing too much trouble. I had a walk through the beautiful dene to relax. It was stunning. I returned to the hotel and sat on their terrace for lunch followed by a glass of wine and a good book. Not cheap but definitely worth it.

We had afternoon tea and it was a lovely experience. Great food, lovely hotel, attentive service. The only negative is the 10% service charge that's automatically added to the bill. It's a pleasure to tip for good service, as I was already going to do, but making it an obligation changes that entirely. It also means your 28 afternoon tea is in fact 30.80.

We enjoyed a wonderful night's stay in one of their superior rooms. Stunning, luxurious hotel in a picturesque setting, you wouldn't know how close to the city centre you actually were! Excellent facilties and welcoming and friendly staff. Delicious breakfast this morning with a great selection of hot and cold items all served perfectly. Wish we'd had time to try their Fern restaurant for dinner! Would highly recommend and can't wait to return!

Beautiful location, we were in the orangery which was stunning. Great service. Food was lovely, we had a 3 course lunch. Only thing I'd say to improve is to have a vegetarian roast dinner option!

Lovely table in the conservatory area with attentive staff and good wine. Enjoyable food presented in a very acceptable manner but improvements could be made in respect of: Steak for two came on a large plate with sauce poured all over, preference would be sauce seperate. One of deserts came with biscuits simply broken up and piled beside main pudding.

Staff were helpful but it was clear there was junior staff as couldn't answer questions from friends and one served my friend soup from the other side of table where he was sitting. It is on the expensive side but worth it for a special occasion. I would recommend.

Lovely tranquil and beautifully appointed rooms. The room we stayed in looked out onto the wooded area at the back with the sound of the river trickling through, so we left the window open all night and it was very relaxing. The staff were excellent and attentive, especially at the bar and the food in the restaurant was of the highest quality. There wine selection was pretty good too!

The only negative was the mattress on the King Size bed was a little soft, so one of us didn't get much sleep, but the other things more than made up for it. One thing you should note is there is a service charge added to the bill when you check out which you can ask to be removed.

Stayed last night. The bed was awful, hard as concrete. Pillows awful. The thermostat in the room didn't seem to work so the room was way too hot and had really dry humidity. Just a terrible nights sleep when we were staying to recover from having two kids under two. Staff nice enough, but we were put in the charmless new part of the hotel so had no experience of the hotel we thought we'd be staying in.

First class meal and service. The staff were fantastic and the food was stunning. I started with the most gorgeous mussels and then shared the ribeye steak with my father in law. It was a brilliantly cooked piece of meat. Best meal I've ever had in Newcastle

We were given the afternoon tea as a gift. Nothing special about this place at all I'm afraid.the usual.parking ok, staff all doing what they should, the place was clean apart for our table top which was sticky ( not food) cleaning chemicals perhaps which was reacting with the varnish. anyway.the English breakfast tea was very good. The teapot ( epns) was water stained from the dishwasher.not a good look.

The sandwiches/scones/ cakes were all good.standard stuff. All nice and small and we'll presented. Was it value for money.? Would I go again.? All a bit "Emperor's clothes" I'm afraid, 50 for a pot of tea sandwiches, scone and cake.! But if that's your thing.this is the place for you. Enjoy.

In regards to the restaurant: absolutely brilliant. I ate there 2 years ago and in my opinion, that was the best dinner I had in Newcastle! I will definitely go back and recommend everyone.

Amazing experience. The deluxe room was lovely, especially the luxurious bathroom. We ate at the restaurant where the food was delicious, and had breakfast in the room the next morning for a very reasonable price, which was excellent. The most pleasant part was how helpful the staff are - they will go well above and beyond to make sure you have a good experience. Everyone we interacted with made our stay there even better!

Five stars for the events team. Nicole and Marcus provided a first class service for our recent small wedding. From start to finish every detail was catered for in a friendly and professional manner. The food was amazing -a big thank you to the chef. Jesmond Dene House was the perfect venue, such a lovely building with a beautiful outside area for photographs. A big thank you to the whole team. We will certainly be revisiting.

Superb afternoon tea with my mam at Jesmond Dene House. Catered to my nut allergy by 1) replacing everything with nuts with a made to order alternative and 2) made carrot cake with no walnuts in it. And it was all spectacularly great. Excellent service and beautiful surroundings. My mam loved every minute of it.

Always love coming to Jesmond Dene House for their afternoon tea. The service was great and they always take care of my partner who has nut allergies without being overbearing or making him sign his life away (like some restaurants). Love being able to ask freely for tea refills. The selection of patisserie were excellent and really beautifully presented. Love that the scones are nice and hot when served as well. The cheese scones are the best I've had! Thank you for making it such a special occasion!
