Excellent, well run small hotel, about 2 miles from Gatwick airport. We stayed last year and have returned again as it is excelkent value, spotlessly clean and very well run. It strikes me as weing a very well organised hotel which is of massive importance for an airport stay. After a break of 8 years we stayed at the Acorn Lodge before flying to Spain.

Worst "hotel" ever. Their hotel policy on Agoda states 3 for hotel to airport shuttle and free pick up from the airport to the hotel (the main reason we booked with them) but when I contacted them to reserve the shuttle, they said it was 3.50 each way per person. Fine I can deal with it. I also booked a more expensive option which included breakfast.
My husband had also called them the day before to confirm the shuttle service. Upon arrival to check in, the owner told us there was no breakfast available. Fine, we can live with no breakfast. But then he told us that they haven't had the shuttle service going since the pandemic. He insisted we just take a taxi which would be more expensive. We told him he had the opportunity to tell us there was no service but he didn't until check in so he needs to cover the difference since it was a matter of principles.
He refused and started blaming us for not being clear. I have email correspondence with him confirming the shuttle prices. He had my booking dates too but he claimed he didn't. All up just a liar. The place also looked very dirty with random office chairs scattered in the middle of the hallways. We decided to book with another hotel immediately.

I made my booking in July, i booked to stay from the 29th to the 30th. I emailed the hotel and told them that I arrive in Gatwick on the 29th of August between 1am and 2am and asked them if it would be OK to check in at that time. A short time later i received an email from Khalid telling that there would be no problem for me to check in at that time and to call them and they would let me in.
When I landed in Gatwick I called them as per the email as per Khalids request and I was told that they had misread the email and they wouldn't let me in as they thought I was arriving late at night on the 29th meaning the 30th of August. I explained that this is their fault and not mine as I had clearly stated dates and time in my original email which I had.
The male on the phone just argued and hung. At this stage we were outside the hotel, I called back and the male answered again and I asked if they had any rooms left as it was 1.30 in the morning and we did need somewhere to stay the male said that he did. The male walked over to the door and unlocked it. I proceeded to show him the email which proved what I was saying ans he refused to look at it saying that it was too late for that.
I then explained that I would have to reflect this in my review with booking.com to which he replied, "in that case I no longer have a room for you" and walked us to the door and locked the door behind him. After 15 minutes of sitting outside in the rain trying to organise another hotel for us, a young male came out and told that we would not get anywhere else to stay for the night and for 40 we could stay tonight and we could call booking.com in the morning and request our refund.
Since we had no where to go we accepted. The male we were speaking to was apparently the owner of the place. Who answered the door in his bear feet. There was no following of covid 19 regulations. None of the staff members were wearing masks there was no social distancing and no hand sanitiser. In the morning we got up to check out and there was a note on the desk stating that we should just leave the keys on the desk and that the front door was locked and in order to leave qe should use the fire escape through the restaurant.
This was and I'm sure will be the worst place I have ever had to stay at. Staff are arogant and rude and do not accept the responsibility of their own mistakes. Acorn lodge hotel haf agreed to give me a refund on a recorded line with booking.com and to myself in person. After posting the above review on booking.com I received an email stating that I would not be getting a refund. This hotel has the most un professional staff I have ever met. Rude, arrogant, un-cooperative staff.

I am giving 4 stars because staff were very friendly and solved a booking problem I had with no problems whatsoever. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the evening meal. Probably better than any restaurants we had been to on our UK visits. The ONLY reasons I took one star off was not a fault of the staff. It was an extremely noisy person in the room next door which was not appreciated since we had an early flight.
I do want to add our appreciation though to the very friendly Bulgarian lady on reception who was very kind and professional and also the chef / driver who also made our brief visit a good one

Horrific experience with the property owner regarding the pick from the airport which was a part of the service provided. Having paid for the airport parking at this hotel and the pick up and drop-off service we were left waiting at the airport for nearly an hour before they came to pick us up in a tiny little car. It was 8 people in our party plus full holiday luggage.
It would have taken 3 trips or more to get us all back to our cars. And this was after the driver was sent to the wrong terminal. To make things worse the driver didn't not even offer an apology and in reply to our frustration over the size of the vehicle he told us to get a taxi and drove off. Having paid 30 for 2 taxis we arrived at the hotel. There was no apology offered again, just our keys got handed over.
Only when we asked for an explanation we found out that the driver was in fact the company owner. He was rude and did not care to even explain why we were all left standing at the airport for so long before he attempted to pick us up. He even pointed out that he was using his own car, as if we should be grateful for him coming to pick us up in a vehicle quarter of the size almost an hour late.
There were 4 children in our party, one toddler with ADHD and 3 adults all left stranded at the airport while the owner cowardly drove off and abandoned his customers at the airport.

I was disappointed by the service I received. I booked parking here and a transfer to Gatwick airport. The night before my flight I reconfirmed what time I should arrive and was reassured somebody will be there to take us in the morning. When I arrived at 5am I was told there would be no more shuttle services until 06:30. I was told to book a cab or get an Uber and that sometimes the shuttle services are too full and they cannot guarantee that everybody will be entitled to a shuttle service.
I can understand this however this is not stated anywhere beforehand. Even the night before, they could have told me there may be a case where they cannot take me but they guaranteed I would be provided this service. If I had known from beforehand I would have been better prepared. Once I was told I had to book my own taxi I was stressed as it was nearing the time of our flight and it was pouring with rain.
Our flight was at 07:30 and we had a family of 6 to take to the airport. I had to download Uber there and then, create an account and book one. I wish they had been truthful from the start and at least told us the shuttle is subject to availability.

Stayed here for one night, as I had an afternoon flight the next day. As soon as I checked in, I was asked if I wanted to book my taxi ride to the airport which was a great relief. Loved my room, big and spacious, fully functioning TV, en-suite bathroom, and the place is a short walk away from Horley Town centre. I would definitely recommend.

We took the room for the night and 2 weeks parking which cost us less than going just parking with other firms. I have to say the experience 6was a surprise. The staff were lovely very welcoming a and helpful and the room was lovely cozy warm and comfortable. All in all a excellent nights stay and my car was wwwell loomed after. Highly recommended for the overall ease.

Pleasant, efficient staff. Fair sized twin room with a good shower. The sink tap was a bit wobbly but no problem. Double glazing might be an improvement, as we had some traffic noise. Soft fluffy towels, good beds & TV. Breakfast was quick & the hotel transport was on time. Good value & handy for the airport.

Used this hotel as I couldn't get public transport to make my early flight. Paid 39 for a mid week stay booking a week in advance. That didn't include any breakfast or dinner options. Flight was too eat for their breakfast too. Shuttle service to pick me up at the airport was quite convenient. Only a 10 minute wait too. Minibus was quite clean and quiet, but my first view of it was a trim piece missing by the seat belt area.
Bit unsightly. Room was fine for want I needed. Bed was very comfy. Carpet felt thick and quite new. Room was cleamed to a good standing, but there was a lot of bleach in toilet and the smell was fairly prominent because of it. Few visible signs of old fixings (screw holes etc.) Little bits of wear and tear here and there, but I've paid more and rooms were in a much worse state than this.
I stayed in room 12 which was quite close to the bar and I feared would hear the TV and people in the bar, but it was actually fine. Shower room was quite small, but did the job. I'm 5ft 10 and I found things quite low including the mirror and the sink. Shower cubicle was also quite small. I'd give the place 4 stars, but that mirror height was quite annoying and the shower tool several minutes to warm up.
That is my usual minimal requirement for these types of places. Comfy bed and warm shower.shower was a decent pressure though. Staff were friendly. Overall I'd recommend staying there if you need a cheap near airport hotel.

Receptionist and dinner server/bartender were very friendly and welcoming. Very clean but barebones hotel room. There was no clock or phone in the room which made waking up interesting. Dinner was lovely and an excellent value. However, prices are inconsistent and seem to be whatever the staff feels like charging. The shuttle to the airport is listed at 4 on the website, 3 in the actual hotel booklet provided in the room but we we charged 3.50.
Also the website clearly states "Catching an early morning flight can be a very easy experience with an early complimentary breakfast." yet as we got on our shuttle to leave, the driver asked if we paid for breakfast and then told us it was 3 per person. Had we known this ahead of time we definitely would not have had breakfast. Recommend anyone who books to verify in writing the prices before you book as not to be surprised when the bill comes.
