Did not use the Hotel but had afternoon tea here. Was excellent with just the right amount of food and cakes to fill you up but not overfill you. Staff were great and attentive too but not overly intrusive. Location right on the quay is beautiful too with great views and wishing away money we have not got on some of the amazing boats or just watching the world go by

Wow! Beautiful hotel in an absolutely stunning location. We had one of the rooms with the copper tub in, it was beautiful. Doors opening out on to the harbour. Could have been somewhere on the Med! (Photo of view from the room added). All staff we lovely, friendly, super helpful. Food was gorgeous (as were the cocktails!). A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We popped in here one afternoon in the hope of some lunch, without booking. We were fitted in very promptly in the bar/lounge area, and the mushroom linguine was fantastic. Excellent outlook from the lounge, and comfy seats. Prices were reasonable given the setting and quality. Didn't see the rooms as didn't stay, but seemed very busy.

Stayed here for a night recently and had a really pleasant stay. Our room was clean, spacious and had stunning views of the marina. The staff were all extremely polite, friendly and helpful and made us feel like nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was gorgeous and surprisingly reasonably priced. If I had to have one quibble it would be that our 'Harbor View' room could have been a little bit better sound insulated as noise from the above and adjacent rooms, as well as from outside with the windows closed could be heard pretty easily. Not enough of an issue for me to remove to a star though and this will definitely be my hotel of choice the next time I visit Ipswich. Really wonderful stay! :-

Stayed here for one night on a work trip. The staff were pleasant throughout the hotel. The food was good although not sure what the glazed cherries with the duck liver parfait were about. Room was nice. Only gripe with the rooms, or my particular location was the occasional bang from the lift opposite my door and the squeeky floor boards.

We came to stay here for a short break with my daughters in September. Our rooms were amazing, so spacious and overlooked the beautiful harbour. We enjoyed dinner one evening outside and the food was delicious. Also great having drinks in front of the hotel with the lovely view. Breakfast menu, superb choice! The staff were very friendly, attentive and professional. The perfect break for us all!

The Salthouse Harbour Hotel is on the quayside of the old non-tidal Ipswich Docks. The building was formally a warehouse and has been tastefully transformed into a modern and comfortable hotel with a restaurant. With attentive service and scrumptious food available from their 'eaterie', this has to be THE place to stay in Ipswich. The rooms are clean, modern and comfortable; some have aircon and a few have balconies too.
A word of caution regarding rooms with balconies, if you want to keep the doors open all night. noise from the extremely popular (and best avoided) Isaac Lord pub next door. We stayed in the penthouse suite and it was faultless. The furnishings were homely and refined and the views from the huge floor to ceiling windows across the marina were dreamily relaxing. All-in-all our stay there, although we were actually partially on a business trip, was wonderfully chilled out.
What certainly added to whole experience was the top-notch grub from the 'eaterie'. We invited some family members over for dinner, which included 4 little people. And I have to congratulate the staff and kitchen on the level of attentiveness shown to our young guests. they all loved the special menu and thoroughly enjoyed both the dining experience and the food.
One small cautionary note. drinks from the restaurant bar are absurdly expensive. A double Whiskey will set you back 12.00! This is such a shame, and I sincerely hope that the owners will realise their error of their ways and correct this without delay. If you want a drink, go to The Lord Nelson on Fore Street immediately behind the hotel. a traditional Suffolk alehouse, full of Oak beams, oozing with character AND they sell a wonderful pint of Adnam's Broadside too!
