You get what you pay for! We booked a one night stay for out family of 5. We have stayed at another surf lodge in Newquay so knew what to expect. We got there early and when checking in we was warned about it being a busy weekend and there being lots of noise throughout the night. Younger guests were also asked to be mindful of families staying too.

The bar area was good and the pool table kept the kids happy for awhile. With all the warnings I was expecting to be woken up a bit throughout the night but I was surprised how little noise I heard. My only gripes were the room could have been cleaner and there wasn't much room to move about for 5 people in the room.

Pros: good customer service, Jeremy was very helpful and friendly. Comfy pillow and bed. Fairly clean too. Jeremy also found us a hair dryer and helped carry bags. It still looks like prison though. If you're on a budget this is the place for you Cons: looks like prison. Note to self : don't ever commit a crime. Very noisy clientele, shower was not great.

Booked Escape for a group of friends. From start to finish the service and communication has been amazing. Gerry and all the staff were so great to us. Close to everything you could ever need. They helped us sort out the beach activities like coasteering and surfing for good prices. We had breakfast and dinners with escape because the food quality was top level with a lovely range of food. We will be coming back in no time that is for sure!

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and thats where the good points end. If you think from the photos this place looks nice and quaint, don't be deceived, it is not. Our 'twin' room was nothing more than a bunkbed in a broom closest with which you couldn't fully open the door because of the bed. No facilities were provided nor towels so bring your own (or rather go somewhere else). Beds were uncomfortable and dirty, didn't look like the bedding had been cleaned. All in all avoid this place if you can, the best thing about it was 'escaping' the next morning.

An affordable surfer's lodge for those who want to go on a beach/surf trip with friends. The bar is open as well but must maintain social distancing for everyone's health protection. The facilities include the Escape Surfing school. Although the establishment is quite busy during summer season, the staffs will find time to welcome you with smile whenever you are at their doorstep.

Stayed here last week with a couple of my mates. Great place to stay for an action packed holiday, good facilities especially the bar which is open until 4am with reasonable prices. Very close to the town and beaches making it perfect for a surfing holiday. Staff were all great especially Jeremy who took the place from a 3 star to a 5 star as he went above and beyond to ensure we all had a good time there. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay in Newquay after an action packed day!

It's very comfortable. At first you wouldn't think so because it looked like a dormitory inside but the bed was comfy, the room was big, the toilet/shower room was also good and spacious enough. Breakfast was nice, there's a bar with tv and you can play billiards too. The lounge is cute and looks retro. There's no lift but you won't have to climb that many steps to the next level anyway.

The amenities are great and the owner and his wife are very hospitable and friendly. It's a lovely place to stay at and I'll definitely stay there again if we ever go back to Newquay. 5* for service, cleanliness and area.

Escape was an apt name as I was relieved to escape this hostel. The good stuff first - the location is great and the social areas are good. The otherside -> If anyone is worried about covid then this is not the hostel for you. Limited precautions in place. I was sadly checked into a dirty room. This was then cleaned by the staff (thank you). We were a full room and then realised the window didn't open.

When asked for another room as it was so hot - we were told the hostel was full but when looking on booking.com there was still spaces and had to push to move rooms the next night. We were told the hostel was budget, which we fully accept but that it not an excuse to not have basic facilities. It is clear that the hostel has made enough money over the 22 years the owner has had it. the owners are just not putting any of the money back into the hostel and using the "it's a budget hostel" as an excuse for unhygienic and unsafe conditions (personal opinion).

I am not expecting a 5 star hotel or amazing decoration but I am expecting hygienic and usable facilities. If none of the above bothers you, then the hostel is a great place for a party goer.
