Avoid this hotel unless you like stress. I am not one to leave reviews for good or bad but I feel like this is the only avenue to express my complete disgust at this hotel and some staff members. On arrival at the hotel with 3 children and baby in arms- bags etc usual hotel arrival chaos. we asked for help from the porter- there isn't one. However we were told by the rude lady on the front desk there is a trolley but "by the time I find it it would be quicker to just take our bags to our room ourselves".

Fear not we could leave them in the lobby while we went back and forth to the room for them! Great first impression. No bottled water in the hotel- at all. So refill on old bottles were provided upon several requests. Food waiting time was absolutely ridiculous. An extensive bar- they do NO cocktails. No room service- no one answers the phone. Reception doesn't answer the phone.

The restaurant manager is rude and aggressive. Have NEVER come across someone like this, so much he made me and my young daughter cry. Really lost for words as how someone like that is in service as a profession. It is a real shame as the hotel has potential but the unhelpful and down right rude staff has ruined our stay. We went expecting a nice relaxed stay but have come home upset and stressed out.

We have stayed in a lot of hotels in our lives and I've just never ever been so poorly treated in a hotel. More a 2/3 star hotel. Avoid and save yourself the stress! Suggest the hotel group have a good look at this hotel and reassess their stars!

Couldn't fault! A lovely hotel with good rooms and modern en-suite bath rooms. The grounds were magnificent! Restaurant service a little slow but food was good and breakfast had wide range of foods too. Swimming pool is nice size with sauna & steam room. Sadly no hot tub but still worth going!

We were really impressed with Norton Park. A group of 4 ladies, one night spa break with treatment, bed, breakfast and dinner. Great value, wonderful treatments (thank you Elena), comfortable rooms and beds and dinner and breakfast both delicious! The service was great in all areas. Friendly and super efficient reception ladies, professional spa staff who went above and beyond to accommodate us for treatments after two of our party were late.

The housekeeping staff were chatty, very friendly and helpful and the waiters in the restaurant in the evening were great! I wish I had taken names as they all deserve a mention. Perhaps hotel management could reward those working on the night of Thurs 28th April?! We would definitely stay again.

Just visited for the weekend for our anniversary and we were very impressed. We were greeted in and the service throughout our stay was brilliant. The hotel and Manor itself is beautiful with lovely surroundings. Hotel always kept clean and we loved the spa especially the steam room. The food was excellent with dairy free/vegan options available for my lactose intolerance (would have liked to have seen a vegan friendly or dairy free dessert available though).

Our room was great too, the only issue was the curtains were quite dirty/dusty other than that I couldn't really fault the place. We would love to return! And it's just 10-15 minutes from Winchester centre

Please ignore the low Google reviews! My two friends and I have just returned from the most fantastic 3 days/2 nights at Norton Park. We were also a little wary after reading those reviews, but our experience far outweighed our expectations. Great location, super facilities, including sensational Elemis spa, very comfortable rooms, good food and above all. superb staff (front desk, cleaning, restaurant and therapists). We really could not fault it and plan to return. Thank you to all the wornderful staff at the hotel for making our stay so wonderful.

My wife booked a two night spa break for my birthday, we arrived early to make use of facilities and started with a bar snack which after waiting for 45min received a soggy sandwich and a burger that was dripping with fat. The hotel looks tired and the room had an free standing electric heater in it as heating and air con wasn't working, the spa treatments were amazing and the staff in the spa truly understood customer service, unfortunately when it came to the evening meal this was not the case.

We were seated at a table then had to wait 35min before we were asked if we wanted a drink! We then received our meals at at no point did anyone ask if these were OK, I ordered a steak rare and got a medium, our plates then cleared and again we were ignored for over 45min at which point we gave up on getting a sweet, when I complained as we left I was told " yeah well we are busy " I said I would reflect this in a review he replied " yeah do that "! Not what I would call four star service. Needless to say we will not be returning.

This hotel is being propped up by staff who although few in numbers are putting the polish on a xxxx. We have stayed here a of times over the years as the food has been good, the spa and grounds relaxing. It has not got better each time we stay. It is not 4 star. The spar facilities are now poor. Heated benches are not hot, the steam room is not fully working, the pool is cold, they have removed the jacuzzi finally as this was only working on the first visit and then became a stone filled piece or architecture!

The menu in the restaurant was okay but better options in the local pub. The chairs were rickety and the breakfast not really hot. No information in the rooms about times etc not even on the telly which although modern you couldn't access the full option on as we only had a hotel remote. All in all we are sorry to see what was a 4 star hotel become a mediocre 2 star hotel.

My partner booked this hotel for a number of reasons, more so location being close the Bombay Sapphire Distillery. Although the Spa, Pool, Gym and grounds of which the hotel are situated on are superb. Our only issue, although small, was with breakfast. We are veggies and although the menu had veggie options on there, not having the veggie options available was abit annoying. Although the service from bar staff, reception, spa and house keeping was spot it. Really couldn't recommend highly enough the hotel. The room was amazing also.

Rooms were adequate, I liked breakfast but my partner didn't. Nice location if you want peace and quiet. Sauna was not working and pool was tepid at best not warm- hot water coming from pump but not staying in pool. Overall nice place and very friendly helpful staff. Gym was good and had a good range of weights. Most hotel gyms are rubbish and stop at the 15kg mark which drives me nuts. Had over double that in dumbbells.

Happy with stay but for the price I'd expect the shower to not have mould and spa to be in full working condition. Be warned as well if you want a couples break and to not be surrounded by kids/babies - hit spa for a swim past 6pm. Spa shuts at 8pm. FYI.

I recently travelled to Leeds and stayed at queen's hotel for 3 nights. This hotel is all about the location. Perfectly located in the city square with all kinds of bars, restaurants and malls around. Overall great value for the money.

The Queens Hotel on the Leeds City Square was a perfect find following our long journey from DC to Dublin to Manchester to Leeds. We just followed the "way out city square" signs to exit the train station, turned right, and there it was! The lobby was elegant and had an aura of grand-old-hotel-of-byegone-era. Reception staff were gracious and accommodating.

We had reserved the dinner and breakfast included package and were so impressed with our chef's presentation of soup, salad, roasted chicken and sea bass. The menu was diverse, and the 28 pound per person dinner allowance allowed us to order whatever we wanted. Traveling with my mom for her 90th birthday, the twin room we reserved was perfect for us.

Comfortable and pristinely clean, it had everything we needed--wifi, tv, coffee service, view, over-bed reading lamps, very nice bathroom. We might even try out the pants presser! I would definitely recommend the Queens to anyone traveling by train to Leeds who wants location plus moderate elegance without five star prices.

Didn't stay here i was only meeting friends for drinks, so as for the accommodation i have no idea. The lounge bar went in stages of being insanely busy to being dead, strange thing was it took about the same amount of time to get served regardless of crowd size, which was very frustrating. Staff seemed to be busy making and serving drinks but i'm not sure who to, perhaps there are functions going on that this bar serves, but service was painfully slow. Pleasant enough staff and very accommodating bumps up my stars from 2 to 3

Maybe it's because I stayed at "cheap and cheerful" hotels for the rest of my time in England, but I swear I heard angels singing as I walked into my room at the Queens. The door opened at full swing (unlike my hotel in Leicester!). I didn't need to insert the key to turn on the lights (unlike my first London hotel!). There was a full bathtub rather than a teeny tiny stall shower!

There were toiletries! And the TV was almost American-sized! I had a great deal on Expedia, so my room was barely more than US$100, and I was absolutely thrilled by everything I got for the price. The hotel was beautiful, clean, and quiet. The location next to the train station was wonderfully convenient. If there's any other hotel in Leeds, I don't need to know about them, because the Queens has my money for any future trips.

I've stayed at the Queens many times over the past 5 years. It is comfortable and convenient. The food is good. I love the Art Deco styling and the staff have always been helpful. My only gripe is being charged for wifi. It's 2013 guys. If Marks & Spencer can give me free wifi then you can too.

I've never actually stayed as a guest at the Queens Hotel so I can't comment on that, but I've attended a few work galas here and the experience is always top notch. I've been to three such occasions here, and I'm always amazed at the grandeur of the place. You feel like a Hollywood celebrity walking in and seeing everyone in their fancy gowns and tuxes against a glamorous backdrop of marble statues, huge ceilings, sprawling staircases and sparkling chandeliers. It's the kind of place that I would have daydreamed coming to as a little girl wishing she was a princess - yes, that's how sad I am! I've never known a place to handle parties and conferences the way the good folk at the Queens do.

They move as one single-minded unit to give you amazing waiting service and just have this extra sense of class in all that they do. The main hall we have our party in is always decorated beautifully with tastefully coloured balloons, ribbons and pure white tablecloths. I unfortunately have to score the lovely Queens down on drinks, as the prices are extortionate and I had a gin and tonic here that literally tasted like diluted mouthwash - not good! I would love to stay over here just once as I've heard great things about it. For now, I'm content with a glitzy work party every now and then!

Had a wonderful afternoon tea at the Queens with a lovely group of people. The staff were friendly and even helped us take group pics which was lovely of them to make time for us. The interior was stunning and the crisp white linen and napkins was sheer luxury however I annot say the same for the high tea th sandwiches tasted like they had been kept made for some time in a fridge (not very fresh) the Ham in the sandwiches had a lot of fat and gristle and the cakes were excessively dry and not too appetising.

For a fee of 15 per person this was excessive for the quality of food. We had a great time but I feel there are other establishments offerring a higher grade tea for a lower price in just as beautiful surroundings in Leeds city centre for a little less.

Can't really comment on the hotel, but I did take a group into here recently for a refreshment break in the Queens Bar. The Art Deco interior and very high ceilings create a very styled room, which was good for our short visit there. Not sure how I would feel about staying in there for very long, and definitely isn't somewhere to visit as part of a bar crawl, but if you're out to try and impress someone (such as a date!) then I'd suggest you could visit here early in the evening. Drinks seemed pretty reasonable too, although I did only have a coke it cost 1!

I love the look of the hotel internally reminds me of the shining now I havent seen it for a while so people might think I'm mistaken but I dont think many people will disagree when I say the hotel looks amazing. The room was a standard hotel room, I didnt have an issue with temperature controls and the wifi was free so maybe things have changed since the previous review Breakfast was nice, standard hotel set up but the sausages were nicer than most hotels Ive stayed in the only bizzare thing is sitting people right next to each other when the entire place is empty, I like a bit of space in the morning when I'm not fully awake yet.

The staff were very good and a requested ironing board and iron were brought promptly, the room does have a trouser press Overall a pleasant stay for 80 B and B seems good to me

I've been wanting to stay at one of those ice palace hotels they have in Sweden. Ever since discovering their existence, thanks to the 007 franchise, it's been a mild fascination of mine. However, after my experience at The Queens in Leeds, I don't know that I'm so thrilled about it anymore. See, it's one thing to be bundled up in a heavy parka, surrounded by giant glistening blocks of ice, and going to sleep in warm faux fur bedding. It's another to be taunted by a seemingly ineffective climate control panel, huddled shivering under the covers on my single bed at The Queens. Nonfunctional climate controls aside, the things that this hotel has going for it are a lovely lobby, running hot water, and comfortably-sized rooms. It's also conveniently located next to the Leeds rail station.

I have a laundry list of qualms, though: beyond the complimentary two-hour free wi-fi per day, you can purchase a daily code for 7, which you'll have to speak to reception for each time you renew. I already hate paying for wi-fi a la carte at hotels. Making me speak to someone -daily- to get on the interwebz is absurd. The shaver outlet in my bathroom didn't work, the towels felt like they'd been put through the wash a few thousand times, and (oddly) you have to ensure the entire shower curtain - both inner lining and outer shell - are inside the tub.

Take extra note on that latter item. It'll save you the ten minutes of sopping up an inch of water off the bathroom floor. Needless to say, for all the charms and friendly service you'll find here, you're better off looking elsewhere for lodging in Leeds.

Whilst I've not stayed at the Queens Hotel, so can't comment on the service there, I have been here recently for a conference. The Queens Hotel kindly hosted the most recent Experience Leeds meeting and I was pretty impressed by their service and space. The meeting rooms toward the back of the ground floor, accessed via the lobby, are very grand - reminiscent of a high ceiling Victorian building (which I would imagine is the case as it appears to be a rather grand old structure) - with plenty of space, long thick curtains and a plush carpet.

The staff were very accommodating, and had even provided a spread of coffees, teas, cake, biscuits and so on, which I took great advantage of having not had anything to eat prior to the meeting! The seating was comfortable, the space was adequate for a large group to meet up and discuss collaboration (the theme of the conference) and the whole evening went very smoothly.

Being in such a grand room really reminded me of being back at University, when Bretton Hall was still a part of Leeds Uni, so on a personal level it was lovely to come back into a space like this to listen and learn from others. As mentioned, I can't comment on the rooms and other facilities, but as a conferencing space, it certainly fits the bill!

Tired to say the very least! Great location just by the train station but that's as good as it gets. Room badly in need of a refurb which I can understand but combined with filthy frayed net curtains! Breakfast did little to lift the spirits. Poor service and a grotty looking cooked breafast selection which looked like it had been under the hot plate for at least an hour. Had a yoghurt, beans on toast and was pleased to be checking out. 1/10. In need of investment and a new management team!

A total Art deco experience, with lots of original fittings but updated bed and bathroom. I have stayed here twice before and it does the job. Excellent location and good sized rooms for the money.

Queen's Hotel is a beautiful building right in the centre of Leeds. I visited the bar and restaurant so don't know what the rooms are like, but the dining room was beautifully decorated, in a way which really showed off the elegant architecture. Slightly hungover, I opted for soup, whilst my date chose fish and chips - the lunch menu is fairly simple but adequate.

I was a bit disappointed with the soup, which I thought was a slightly mushy, but the fish and chips were excellent. The restaurant was lively, with a real mixture of diners. The only thing which put me off a bit was the somewhat snobby woman who was serving us, who seemed to think we were below her attention. Having said that, I would go again.

Excellent location but this is a poor quality four star. Brilliantly presented and well decorated. Found the room small and functional but a surprising lack of facilities. I.E. only two teabags, coffee, sugar etc. Did not eat or drink here so cannot comment.

In the heart of Leeds just outside Leeds City Train station this is one of the oldest hotels in Leeds. My visit was part of a Christmas Dinner with work and I can't therefore comment on individual rooms or service as an indvidual but as part of a group of around 100 people we found the food to a high standard and the waiting staff and bar staff very friendly. So often on these christmas do's the food is substandard but thumbs up to the Queens.

Plush and quality are the two words to describe this hotel. I actaully went to my friends wedding here and it was beautiful. The staff were fantastic nothing was too much trouble - they really did know their jobs well. The ballroom was decorated beautifully and the food provided was tasty and well cooked. The rooms were spacious and well decorated much better than the usual chain hotels you get in city centres. - and the bed was really comfortable - I often have difficulty sleeping in strange beds but here I had no problem as I felt comfortable.

Its a bit pricey so it is not somewhere I would stay often but nowadays must city centre hotels are a tad on the expensive side. They have a web site (I think it is part of the Q chain) which is worth checking out.

I stayed in a single room in the queens just after it had been refurbished. The room was huge, the bed was queensize and the bathroom immaculate. Usually when you stay in single rooms they are just that single beds with no windows. The bar area had a nice ambience for through the week and the food was just as you would want it to be exceptional

Quite a pleasant hotel, centrally located, nicely decorated rooms, nice enough staff, had trouble locating them on a couple of occasions though. Spent a couple of nights here, I feel it's more of a three than a four star, general amenities are a little dated, but clean and tidy and you can't beat the location.
