We stayed over the jubilee weekend. Room was okay, standard. Food on our first evening was lovely, however, it went downhill rapidly from there. Staff seem to have trouble understanding us, the language barrier was quite apparent. Dinner on our second evening was not so good, I had the chicken again but it felt like it had been microwaved, urgh. Last night we both had the Winchester burger, awful soggy mush, chips clearly oven chips, they also had no mash! Really?)). Sent food back, found staff rude when there was a problem. Hubby had melting chocolate torte, the melting part was cold and tasted bitter, sent back twice.
The atmosphere was palpable with hostility, the staff were clearly talking about us and further service was not pleasant. I doubt we will stay here again and won't be recommending to anyone. The only good point was we could park for free using my disabled badge.

Stayed here for one night and really enjoyed my stay, beds were extremely comfy and the rooms were very premium. my "window view" was unfortunately looking straight at a brick wall. I enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast. I completely forgot that there was a spa and a swimming pool and did not even see it in person. only discovered this since going to write this review.
With the train station just round the corner this is a perfect location with just a little walk to the cathedral and town centre. Car parking is not a problem with 2 large spaces Infront of and next to this hotel. I can be certain that If I am in this location again I will use the Winchester hotel.

Appalled with my experience with this place. Had to cancel my trip short notice due to the terrible weather but was told I was not entitled to a refund due to the short notice. Requested to talk with the manager who was the most cold, robotic, unprofessional person. Pretty much said that it was not their problem, how sympathetic. Clearly just a money grabbing business.

Room was not clean- different colour and length hairs all over the bed/bath and sink (some pubic) and stains on the bed sheets. Receptionist took us to another room that stunk of smoke. This was a bad visit overall and was not helped by the Manager having poor customer service skills by saying 'if our room does not meet your standards, there is a Premier inn down the road'- this is not the service and quality we expect when paying 139 for one night. Also- I would like to confirm the difference between a standard room and a room on the 'club plus' floor is a bigger TV.
That's it. On the plus side breakfast was nice. I'm not one to write negative reviews or even review at all- that said and purely to warn others I thought it was the right thing to do.
