Lovely hotel and room, very nice staff and service with a smile. Dog friendly too which is perfect. Amazing view from the room. The only downfall, I was on the top floor which was a bit of a pain when taking the dog for it's last walk late at night, I also like a warm bath/shower and the water was like warm. With that being said I would 100% recommend this hotel and I would stay here again.

On it's way to being a good hotel. Feels like they were possibly mid-renovation when pandemic started. In its current state it is overpriced. The rooms are a bit of an unfinished mess. Mismatched doors, broken toilets, showers that flood the floor, TV aerial cables hung across the light fittings. The duvets were also so heavy it was hard to sleep, totally inappropriate for summer months.
They have lots of staff but the staff don't appear to have had any training yet as service is very poor in places, especially the restaurant. On the night I ate there, there was a group of staff stood at the entrance in a huddle most of the night talking among themselves and paying little attention to customers. When they did move through room they would look at the floor avoiding eye contact.
A young man, who I asked what beers they had, told me "I haven't memorised them". Fair enough but go and grab a menu then, don't say things like that to a customer unless you have the wit and charm to carry it off as not just seeming very rude. On the upside, the morning staff were much better and attention at breakfast was much more professional and pleasant experience.

Hotel feels like it's mid renovation. Some really nice decor in public areas but this was not reflected in our room which was tired and a little miss matched. Feels like covid has affected their operation- the lack of house keeping (instead having to queue at reception to request a fresh towel) and the distancing in the restaurant made it feel soul less.
The staff were a bit of a mixed bag. The blonde lady who served breakfast was great, Very attentive and friendly. She really needs to train the evening restaurant staff who were generally younger and oblivious to customers needs. They often stood at the entrance to the restaurant chatting. I saw another diner have to get up and go and ask them for something as they were so unaware of the customers. All in all a nice enough hotel but a little expensive for the experience.

In a venue like Malaig, you don't need to go to an overpriced hotel, especially for a lunch while waiting for the return Jackobite train! Don't make the same mistake as us. The local cafes and takeaways are far better in terms of both quality and price. They forgot my daughters order, they forgot my drink and the staff just said "oh sorry". While I don't completely blame them as they are young, they have to shoulder responsibility for the poor service. Calling management made no difference and frankly I begrudge having spent nearly 60 for lunch which, in hindsight was a complete unnecessary extravagance and I wish I had been more frugal and gone to the local takeaway for 10
