We are situated in the centre of the ancient village of Dunster in Exmoor National Park. The village is overlooked by its fairy tale castle, the historic octagonal market building stands directly outside the hotel. The village contains numerous individual shops and the UK's largest Rohan store is located at the approach to the village.
Your pet is welcome in one of our dog-friendly bedrooms. Please ask when booking as we do keep a certain number of bedrooms designated as "pet free" for guests with allergies. There is no charge for dogs providing no damage is caused. We do not allow dogs in our main restaurant, but we have a smaller dining room in which you can have your meal with the company of your canine companion.
Dunster is one of the largest and most complete medieval villages in England. The fairy-tale castle overlooks the village and the folly tower at the other end of the village makes a good viewing point. The old yarn market still stands proud in the High Street, outside the hotel. There is so much to discover you can spend a whole day here.

This was a wonderful stay at the Yarn Market hotel. I recently stayed with my walking group, and we almost filled the hotel. The staff were fantastic. They seemed to get to know us all and learned lots of our prefereces. They were incredibly helpful, (even after the holiday). My partner and I had a lovely room overlooking the old Yarn market building.

I couldn't fault the food - an excellent and plentiful breakfast, and delicious choices for evening meal. I particularly enjoyed the fish in sauces, stewed apples from the hotel's own orchard, and a different lucious cheesecakes every evening. My partner enjoyed the warming pies, crumbles and strudels with custard. The area is beautiful, with walks right from the hotel. Anthony even drove a minibus to Porlock so we could walk on the coastal path back. We will definitely come back again. Thank you to everyone at the Yarn market hotel.

Cosy, individual rooms, but my room would have benefitted from some hanging space. Very nice food at dinner with good choices. Breakfast has good hot food, but would have liked more range of cold food. Staff friendly and helpful and good Covid protocols throughout.

The Yarn Market Hotel in a relatively small hotel in the middle of Dunster village. It is therefore very convenient for local shops and attractions. The management and staff are very friendly and customer focused and the food was good. My main criticism is that it is very difficult to park here and I found that if I retuned to the hotel before around 5pm every parking space in the village was taken. it was therefore not unusual to have to drive up and down the main street many times before parking became available. However Dunster Castle is in easy reach by foot and there is a very large car park just outside of the village that costs around 6 per day.

To begin with we were very disappointed with paying 80 per night each for a room in the annex of the hotel which seemed overpriced for the quality of the room. However breakfast an evening meal was included and compensated for the price as the food and location was brilliant Amazing staff who work hard to ensure you enjoy your stay. Aswell as making us feel very welcome it was an ideal place to stay with a dog, very dog friendly.

We did not stay here. We ate in the restaurant. This is a throw back to the 80s. We had to pre-book the food which presumably allowed it to be defrosted. I had 'oven baked Cod.' It wasn't. It was a flat defrosted old fillet accompanied by flat anaemic veg. The food came out so quickly we barely had time to draw breath. Dismal, boring and over priced food. The staff are friendly making the best of a bad job. The dining room is like a care home for the elderly. A serious make over is in order. Tired

Staff extremely helpful - from telephone conversation re access etc as I cannot negotiate steps/stairs, I was given impression of no problem so was shocked upon arrival to find two quite deep steps up to the door, then several to small lift up one floor. However we got over it - my room was a small twin with en suite, nice. No telephone to contact reception and no mobile signal. For Wifi you have to find "a spot". Meals were delicious.
