Bed and Breakfast Accommodation in Exmoor National Park at The Rest and Be Thankful Inn and restaurant in the centre of Wheddon Cross, the highest village on Exmoor. Our B and B is a perfect place to stay and a great base from which to explore the beautiful Exmoor National Park. The Inn was originally a staging post for travellers on their way between Dunster and Dulverton, and you will still find a warm welcome, good food and extremely comfortable accommodation awaiting you there today, almost 200 years later!
Services
Our Bed and Breakfast ExmoorAccommodation provide guests with a level of comfort more usually found in a four-star hotel rather than a Country Inn. All our bedrooms are en-suite with good quality furnishings. Our comfortable beds are made up with crisp cotton sheets. Soft white bathrobes and a basket containing good quality toiletries and face cloths provide extra touches of luxury.
Our restaurant has firmly established itself as the place to eat when visiting the moor, or to pop in for a light snack when out for a ramble. We take pride in our traditional home-cooked pub meals in the heart of Exmoor, using local produce in and around Wheddon Cross Exmoor whenever possible. Great care and attention is taken in the cooking and presentation of each dish.
The Buttery Bar is a comfortable function room suitable for around 40-50 people (dependent on room layout). We can cater for birthdays, anniversaries, meetings and any other special occasion in the heart of Exmoor. On entry to the Buttery Bar we also have a reception room suitable for pre party drinks, there is a hot desk and wireless internet access.
Full bar equipped with all you could want to get the party started. Whether you are in a Marquee or any outside events we can bring the "CAZ BAR" to you, locally in Minehead or throughout Somerset and Exmoor. We hire a self sufficient service with our own generator so no matter where your party is we can function.

What a find this place is. Out in the sticks but that just adds to the peace and quiet. The room was excellent as was the food and drink. Bit limited if you are a veggy but otherwise really good. All is freshly prepared and delicious. Breakfast was a hit too. Friendly and efficient staff. Locals are a friendly bunch too. Will definitely be going back next time we are in the area.

Great place to stay. Off the beaten track a bit - a piece of rural Somerset life. Quiet room once generators shut down for the night. Bijou room, comfy bed. Room doors a bit noisy - people can be so inconsiderate! Breakfast & meals good. Local produce. Very pleasant, obliging staff - nothing too much trouble. Have stayed here many rimes & always a pleasure.

The carvery was not worth taking about. It reminded me of being back at my Nan's as the food portions were so small. I thought the idea of a carvery is to fill you up so much that you cannot eat anything else. When I left the restaurant I still felt hungry. The table we were seated at, everytime someone walked behind us it made the four of us feel like we were sitting on a bouncy castle. Because the floor keeped bouncing and it was making us feel unwell.

I arrived by coach on Wednesday on a day trip to see the Snowdrops in the valley. I had a wonderful carvery, best I can ever remember, wonderful restaurant to eat in. Amazing staff who looked after us all, to give us a wonderful day, especially after days of continuous rain. We all thank you very much.

A lovely place, we stayed Monday to Friday and where can we start, the breakfast was plentiful and lovely, we definitely didn't go hungry! The staff were pleasant and kind, Eric is a gem. The rooms were well presented, lovely and clean, ideal as a base to go off travelling and exploring from, which we did. The evening meals had plenty of choice, and same as breakfast, was plentiful.
The Wednesday carvery was to die for, the meat was amazing, especially the beef! Mother in law was very impressed, as we all were. They made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be going back soon.

It was really nice and I loved it. The ice cream was delicious and I really loved my ham, chips and beans. This has been a great experience, even though my brother's milk was off. - from my niece! For the family it was very friendly and any issues were resolved quickly and without fuss. Also, the chicken gravy is to die for!
