Walworth Castle Walworth Castle Hotel is set in the rolling countryside of the Tees valley, just to the west of Darlington and close to the A1(M) in County Durham. It was built in 1189 and is one of the few castle hotels in England. Recently refurbished to an extremely high standard by owners Rachel and Chris Swain , Walworth Castle Hotel really is the ideal venue to sample England's living history.

This is an agent website. I booked a room through the website and found I didn't need this business travel. I called immediately to cancel it. I was told the service fee couldn't be refunded. Don't be fooled by the price. With the service fee, the price is never lower than the price on the hotel official website. Never recommended any use of this website.

I would give this company a zero review if it was possible. I have never felt more deceived in my life. I will never book with this company again. I made a reservation thinking I was speaking directly with the hotel. I went with the refundable to be safe. When I got my confirmation email and realized there was a $19.99 extra fee added because it was Reservations.com, I was surprised.

Then I decided to book directly with the hotel to check the rate, it was $55 less. When I called Reservations.com to cancel they refused to refund the $19.99. They are stealing our money. It is not completely refundable. I don't know when the booking agent mumbled that the $19.99 fee was non-refundable but I did not hear it. What they are doing is illegal.

They must tell you up front: "This is not the hotel and we charge $19.99 which is non-refundable, do you wish to continue?" I wish there was some way I had enough money to take them to court, I am disgusted.

This site disguises itself as though you are booking directly with the hotel and advertises a low rate. Once you enter all your information and hit the submit button, you are hit with all sorts of unadvertised fees and it is all immediately non-refundable. Do your research online and talk with hotels directly and you will find that this site along with its sister site - getaroom.com are complete scam sites.

Terrible customer service. They booked a hotel that didn't have the one amenity we told them we HAD to have, then I had to call 3 times to get them to refund the money when we canceled it. On top of that, 3 weeks later we still didn't have the refund and I had to call back, only for them to tell me it would be another 7-10 days. The worst part was speaking with Linden, who was rude and deflective.and he's one of the Customer Service Managers! Needless to say we will never use them again. And as of today, 4 weeks later, we still don't have a refund for almost $1000.that the hotel never even charged reservations.com. Pathetic.

Stay away from reservations.com! They offer no value-added service and in fact only generate a hindrance around your hotel reservation. I accidentally booked through reservations.com because they mask their website to make it look like the hotel website and they pay Google to have their website pushed to the top of the search. Once you make a reservation you cannot change it there's a service fee for everything. Do not use this service!

I needed to book a handicap accessible room and once I received my confirmation email I realized what was actually booked was a hearing accessible room, which is not what I wanted. When I went to cancel through the links provided there was a pop-up that I agreed to, which ended up refunding the $19.99 service fee instead of refunding the entire cost and therefore I was unable to cancel my reservation and get a full refund.

I called customer service and asked to speak to a supervisor. She then submitted a ticket to the billing department to appeal this so I could receive a full refund. In a couple hours I received an email saying I was going to receive a full refund for my reservation. So first off, if you booked through reservations.com be aware if you try to cancel, it is kind of tricky to do so and the wording of the process is not straight forward. And also, if you mess up like I did and want to get refunded, ask to talk to a supervisor. I'm glad this was all resolved quickly.

I had a great experience booking my vacation for my family with Reservations.com. I wasn't sure on the property online, then I called the customer service, and they were super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful to direct me to the best option and we had such a good time! Strongly recommend and we will use them again! Big thanks to Anne from the call center, she was awesome!

I was deceivingly directed to this website instead of the hotel's home page. Luckily the reservation didn't go through, because I didn't realize I was using a 3rd party. I called IMMEDIATELY after seeing 2 charges of $19.99 "service fee", which is outrageous. I was told that those charges will not post to my credit card because a reservation was never actually made.

They were pushy and made me believe there were only 3 rooms left so I was acting without thinking (which should have been the first red flag). I understand I should have been more aware, but reputable businesses don't charge your credit card a "fee" after telling you the price includes ALL FEES. I'll update and once I see those 2 charges of $19.99 come off my credit card.

If I could leave a 0 I would. If you are needing a Hotel reservation call the hotel before you reserve on this site. Not only were they a lot more expensive than the actual hotel prices if you mess up like I did and use Reservations.com they will not let you cancel. They say that you would pay a fee of $19.99 to cancel but they wouldn't cancel anything.

My hotel would have charged me $140 a night including taxes but Reservations.com charge me $225 a night ($147 + Taxes) and $19.99 service fee. My bad for not checking the hotel first. You can bet this will never happen to me again and I will be telling everyone I know not to use Reservations.com. It's a ripoff. I hope this review will save someone from making the same mistake.

Make sure when you are trying to book a hotel that you are truly on the sight you want to be on. Reservations.com makes it look like the actual hotel site, they jack up the prices, and then your reservation is non-refundable which they do not immediately disclose. I tried to cancel within a few hours and they said that they would send the request to their billing department which would take 7-10 business days. I am anticipating an e-mail denying my request.
