I must say after reading all reviews we were scared to go there but it was really nice and location of that hotel is spot on. Really close to metro + close to different pubs and clubs. We stayed there overnight for a Hen Night. Worth all the money we paid as rooms were tidy and also from 4 rooms they have managed to put 2 rooms next to each other.

Also asked if we could check out later and we were supported on that. Reception was 24 hours and they have helped us out I the night with the keys. So definitely worth staying there if you are looking for close hotel to pubs and clubs and good price.

I decided to stay in Newcastle upon Tyne last minute due having to stay and work the next day. I called the hotel and they were very polite and gave me a much better price than online. Remembering you get what you pay for here it was really nice. The room had a double bed and it was fine. A desk, a wardrobe and tea and coffee making facilities. In the wardrobe there was an iron, hair dryer, heater and fan.

The bathroom was fine and everything worked. The decor was a little old but as I said and the beginning, you get what you pay for. Parking was fine as the multi-storey car park couldn't be closer as the entrance to the hotel is at the back and was free between 6pm and 8am. very happy and I'd stay again.

The staff at the hotel allowed me to store my ruck-sack until my room was ready. The bed was comfortable, the bath/shower had endless hot water. On the downside, the windows are thin and starting at about 4 a.m. I heard everything going on outside including some sort of delivery (maybe food or laundry), and cars starting to arrive in the parking garage across the parking lot.

The hotel provides ear-plugs, which helps. I came to watch a Newcastle match and found the 15-minute walk to the stadium to be very easy. As for things to see, I don't believe there's anything that's over 15 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Additionally, the lift does not work.

Very adequate and nicely done, updated room. Good facilities including kettle. Incredibly noisy neighbors from adjacent rooms. May have been unlucky, but this hotel attracts young people, so don't expect peace and quiet.

It's a great hotel for a cheap stay in Newcastle. Large rooms with comfy beds. A little noisy at night as Windows are a little thin so if you are a light sleeper maybe bring the ear plugs! Breakfast was tasty and fresh I a clean modern breakfast room. Staff were friendly and helpful couldn't ask for more from them. Outside is a bit off putting as it is dark and a little creepy but inside is fine.

Surtees Hotel Newcastle There's absolutely no pretension with this gaff! You pay for what you get! The place is shabby, neglected and tired! BUT.it has everything you need in a cheap stop over! The room was dark but comfortable! It offers all the extras you'd expect from a top notch range establishment, perhaps a bit dated but they are there! The shower was first class far superior to some hotels I've paid good cash for! The bed was HUGE.and comfy! In all for the price I've paid. I'm so impressed with what I got for my cash! Thank You

Rooms where very small, bed was uncomfortable as it was well worn there was dips in the mattress, so did not get a good sleep. On the plus side the breakfast was good, but all in all it wasn't good value for money and the price went up from when I booked online to when I arrived on the day.

Somewhere to sleep for the night. Needs a lot of TLC. Curtain hems falling down, roller blinds came down but wouldn't go back up, 3rd bed in room was a child's bed, could feel the springs in the mattresses, dark room as half lights didn't work, toilet seat broken so it kept moving! Shower was a waste of time. The stair cases were grubby. Plus side: it's pretty central for theatre, shops and restaraunts and the staff were very nice.

Beyond the hotels control; noisy people returning late to their rooms and somebody filling the bins with bottles after 11pm! It was a cheap night for the three if us so just shows, you get what you pay for. Would I go back, no. I'd pay a bit more for somewhere better even just for one night.

Friendly staff. Internet was quick. Stairs are a pain and lift is unreliable. 3rd floor was like a sweat box. We were in the top room facing the street but I didn't find the noise over the top. Just small things were a pain like power outlets were in annoying places. Would recommend for younger travellers as it is located right in the pub district. Overall enjoyed our time here.

I stayed here with a daily deal voucher and thought it was an *excellent* value for what we paid, but not worth the prices on the website. The hotel staff were super friendly and on their personalities alone I'll recommend this place. They're great with giving directions and making you feel welcome. They said the hotel had recently undergone refurbishments, and while the dining area looked fantastic, our rooms were in good condition but didn't look brand-new, and the hallways seemed very tired and some of the walls were in need of repair. Regardless, the Surtees is about a 10 minute walk from the station (which is great if you ask me!) and sits right atop a Brew Dog. Which I thought was bloody brilliant because they serve up some of my favourite craft brews.
