Had a great stay here for a wedding this weekend. Rooms were pretty good and no complaints there. But really here to shout out to the staff behind the operations here. The team on breakfast are made up on young part time staff, who worked amazingly hard to juggle taking care of a large group and other customers. Always super friendly and helpful and kind- and really made the experience great. Biggest shout out goes to Freddie, an awesome bartender and all round people person.

He is incredible at his job and knows exactly how to make sure people are having a great time and being taken care of. Definitely a star and a huge asset to the team- you're lucky to have him!

All in, a pretty decent hotel. Room was fine, if a little noisy in the morning with deliveries and bins being emptied. Location is really nice, outside seating lovely and the spa is new and modern. No gym or swimming pool on site though. Bar and restaurant staff were fantastic, really attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. Drinks range is ok, as you'd expect.

Dinner menu not the best but OK. Breakfast was decent. 4 Electric car chargers on site which was a surprise given they don't show on ZapMap. I didn't need to use them so not sure of cost. The only real negative was the reception staff, 2 of which appeared uninterested, dismissive and a little abrupt, which gave a poor impression as the rest of the hotel was really quite good.

Arrived rather unimpressed, reception quite clinical with awful bright lighting. A mission to get to my room with tatty hallways that needed a good coat of paint and new carpet. As I got to my room it was freezing once inside. Heatign wasn't on and windows were left open, wasn't very welcoming. The decor is very dated but they have tried to make it nice which is a shame.

Paint peeling off the wall and sink has a bad crack in it where it's been fixed. It was clean though but you didn't feel clean due to the wear of the decor in and outside the hotel. Lots of big bright fire exit signs and warning noticed, wasn't friendly to the eye. They need a good bit of investment to make this a welcoming spa hotel, I wouldn't say this hotel is for the younger range it's very much aimed at the older generation as you get that feel of being in an old peoples home.

It's a shame. Staff were friendly thought and a lovely young lad served me for dinner. Food was good though nothing too fancy but tasty and quick. It has the means to be a lovely hotel but as I said doesn't feel like home and quite clinical.

Lovely hotel. Great food. Pleasant staff. Beware there is a spiral staircase to some rooms. That particular room access is not suitable for disabled. But nevertheless a very nice room. Clean and tidy. Spa was closed on our visit. Ask beforehand about facilities.

Really nice staff made the stay special. Loved the breakfast and afternoon tea which we booked in conjunction with spa treatments. The room we had room 11 was spacious and quirky with a bathroom that served as an emergency fire exit if disaster struck. We definitely will return as location great and the owners really care about comfort and service.

I want to start by saying the facilities are lovely at the spa. Smells lovely and very clean. The customer service though is atrocious. My friend had spoken to someone to cater a package to suit our needs and although this isn't a normal service that is offered she was assured that this was okay, given a quote but never received a confirmation email, she. did keep asking for this on the run up but it never arrived.

When we got there at the time arranged she was told we were late despite having asked for 11am until 6pm on the phone. That meant one of us could no longer have a treatment. We kept being told different timings for things by the same receptionist. We had lunch at 2 until 3, we believed we were supposed to have access to the facilities for another 3 hours after but were kicked out.

We tried to sort it but no luck at all. We know that email would have been invaluable at this point. It soured our day and made my friend look stupid. We were informed that the reception area is in difficulties as no permanent receptionist but yet this situation was made out to be our fault. Such a shame as we would have liked to become more regular.

Rooms are spacious and nights are mostly quiet. The bathroom was very nice. No noise from the road/outside in general. However, you can hear guests and the staff in the corridor very clearly which is a bit annoying but not the end of the world. When I got to the room, the lighting did not work. I went down to the front desk to ask about it and they gave me a piece of paper with detailed instructions on how to turn on the lights.

It was something like flip the switch to the left of the bed before switching the main light. There was no apology or acknowledgment about the inconvenience. Again, I know it's not the end of the world but dodgy wiring didn't make me feel safe and I guess in hindsight, I kind of resent that they never offered a discount or even a free/discounted breakfast to make up for it.

I didn't complain at the time because it was late and didn't want to be a nuisance. That's the main reason why I can't give this place 4 stars. I would still recommend staying here though. The walk to town is short and pleasant. I traveled from a place where most people wear masks. So, I wore mine in the common areas. It made me feel uncomfortable that other people, including staff, weren't but to be fair, I can't think of anywhere in England were people are still wearing masks besides public transport.

Stayed at Stratton house for 3 nights between Christmas and New year. Walked in and 1st thing that caught my eye was an awful threadbare supposed to be red carpet. Not good when it's 1st thing you see get rid of it the stone floor underneath is much nicer. Luckily that was my only bad experience of Stratton house so stayed with the 5 stars. Went up stairs to room number 8 opened the door and it was beautiful.

Apart from a rattly window which was soon stopped with a bit of card. its a listed building so think you have to except they can't just change the window frames. Lovely stay lots of sightseeing and breakfast in hotel was in my opinion faultless and very tasty. Staff were all brilliant. Did eat in town 1 night at the fleece I think. that was awful so decided to eat other nights in hotel.

Much better choice the food was lovely service great and no more expensive than eating in town but much better quality food. So yes a great stay would recommend but do hope they get rid of that awful carpet

I went to stay there with my partner last night and we found POO on the toilet seat (I took pics). I demanded a full refund there and then so I can go to stay elsewhere. The reception staff were very apologetic and didn't resist to issue the refund. Overall - the hotel is a beautiful building but the decor is so old, unmaintained and fusty, it literally smelled. Get a better cleaner and redecorate the hotel before you will eventually have to close down.

Comfortable clean hotel, with friendly staff. Main block no lift so if mobility issues make sure you ask for a lower floor. Breakfast tasty and good choices. Would stay again.

We had a lovely two night break at Stratton House. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. We are in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The food delicious and service incredibly efficient and good. There was a wedding over the weekend but it didn't impact us at all and we couldn't hear a thing from our room.

The staff were also helpful when we wanted a quiet place to have a drink away from the wedding party. We didn't use the spa facilities as you have to pay extra for those but they looked very enticing. All in all we had a relaxing, comfortable and lovely weekend. Cirencester was also lovely to explore and we'd most definitely like to come back again.

My girlfriend and I booked for an afternoon to use the spa and have some treatments, and we will definitely be returning! We used the jaccuzi, steam room, sauna, and had a full body massage. Mel on reception was lovely and very helpful. My massage was probably the best I've ever had. It was incredibly relaxing and I came out feeling great. So thank you to Chloe for that! Looking forward to seeing you guys again.
