The New Inn There has been an Inn at Coln St. Aldwyns since the time of Elizabeth I's reign. She issued a decree that there should be a coaching inn within a day's travel of every major centre of population for the comfort and security of her subjects. Through the reign of twenty monarchs the Inn has stood the test of time. Its new owners have recently started a complete refurbishment programme which will be concluded very shortly, whereby the new facility will have everything the modern-day traveller has come to expect.

Second time I have visited this place. They do lovely food and have a great selection of beers. Also nice that they were supporting the Ukraine charity.

A really nice place to stay. The beds were super comfy and the breakfast was top quality. We enjoyed our meal in the restaurant in the evening too. A fairly small menu but very well done.

Absolutely not a 5 star. Yes, the food is worthy of these credentials and also I cannot fault the service inside the pub itself. But the rooms are 3 star at best. I booked the garden suite the night before my wedding, where I stayed with my bridesmaid, as I got married in one of the Cripps venues nearby. It was sold to me as the ideal bridal room, with enough space for myself and the bridesmaids to get ready for my wedding. Pros- there is a private entrance and a lovely terrace, a generous bathroom with lovely free standing tub and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately- the night before my wedding, a couple with a young child (toddler I imagine) were staying in the room directly above me.

The child was having an extreme tantrum and was screaming, crying and therefore causing its parents to move around the room with creaky floorboards ALL NIGHT LONG. Literally from 1am until breakfast time. I cannot blame these people, I blame the organisation of the rooms as I think the staff should have checked who was booked into which room knowing the noise levels are not fantastic in such an old building.

I honestly had the worst night and woke up feeling the furthest version of fresh, rested and ready for MY big day. As a result I was and still am very upset about this. Especially as I have since written to complain and had a less than bothered response. There is no full length mirror suitable for a bridal party, I can't count the one inside the cupboard as it is awkward to access.

And there was no 'dressing table' area for makeup artists/ hair stylists to lay out their kits, as well as no chairs for myself and bridesmaids to sit at whilst having the hair and makeup done. I had to sit uncomfortably on the edge of the bed (after zero sleep) whilst my MUA battled with the space and light. Another thing I expected at a minimum was little vanity kits such as cotton pads and buds, which you absolutely would find in a true 5 star residence.

Staff were very friendly on arrival and were helpful in getting bags and wedding dress into the room as we arrived when the pub was absolutely rammed and it was difficult to manoeuvre the space. As mentioned the food is faultless too. But I absolutely would not recommend the new inn as a place to stay the night before or the night of your wedding, it just isn't suitable.

Just stayed here for 2 nights. Warm and friendly staff. Good selection of beers and wines in the vibrant and cosy bar with nice fireplace. Room was excellent, full of character and spotless. Plenty of parking, a very nice breakfast and an all round pleasant stay. Location superb for all the best places that The Cotswolds have to offer. Will return for sure.

A fantastic place! 7 friends and our dog visited here for lunch last Saturday. We arrived to the fire roaring and 5 star service from all the staff. None of us were particularly hungry but couldn't resist two courses each which were exceptional. I couldn't recommend this place enough! Definitely worth a visit!

Lovely pub and staff, quaint little village, nice open fires and a good pint of Guinness! Generally great room but a few damages noted, holes in walls, very loud creaky tap. Possibly to be expected in an old building but for the price expect very high standard.

So have stayed here before and it a nice pub with rooms. Our shower this morning had only cold water for half an hour, and if you are average height some of the areas in the pub including the rooms may cause you to bump your head. The room was comfy and at the to of the pub so ability to climb stairs sober and drunk is a necessity. The food was simple but tasty.

Basically burgers of many different varieties. The breakfast was nice and service good. Price wise at 125 it's at the top end of a pub stay for me but the setting in the village is lovely. We would come back but would want a hot shower next time. In fairness when mentioned it at checkout I was offered use of another rooms shower but we were ready to go.
