The St Ives Guesthouse has seven guest bedrooms including family and twin rooms, dining room/bar and a beautiful Victorian guest lounge with stunning views across the Clyde. All our rooms, individually named after Scottish Islands, have been refurbished and modernised and feature Smart TVs loaded with Netflix and You Tube, high-speed complimentary wifi (and a secure wired connection), USB sockets, comfy beds, fluffy towels and slippers and a hospitality tray stocked with good quality tea, coffee, hot chocolate and Scottish tea cakes.
Each morning, our guests are treated to a bountiful continental spread as well as delicious cooked breakfast while enjoying the stunning sea views from our dining room window. Our free-range eggs come from Killellan Farm and our salmon is Scottish and smoked by the local heroes Karen and Allan at the multi-award winning Argyll Smokery.
Early/late check in and late check out can be arranged at an additional fee and by prior arrangement only (subject to availability). Give us a call on 01369 704 825 to arrange. Please note we do not offer a bag drop off service. We are a small business, so cancellations can have a big impact on us, especially if we have turned away potential guests in favour of someone who has already booked and who then cancels. For this reason we advise that you take out a suitable insurance product in case you are unable to travel.
Take the M74 from the south* and M8 from the east. Follow signs for Glasgow M8 and Greenock M8 and then take the A8 through Port Glasgow, Greenock to Gourock. TIP:There is no ticket office at Macinroy Point. You can buy the tickets on board but they are much more expensive. Best thing to do is to purchase them from their website or stop at the KeyStore Paul's Food & Wine Convenience Store in Gourock (94 Shore St, PA19 1RB) or Co-Op Supermarket. On arrival in Dunoon (Hunter's Quay), turn left out of the ferry terminal to the centre of Dunoon and the main pier.

We stayed for a two night break over the weekend. The staff were all great and friendly. Breakfast was buffet style and reasonable quality, queues got a bit long at times as there was only one toaster. There was entertainment on at night and also a pool that we did not use. The downside for us was the quality of the room for the price we paid 110 / night this was for a "Best available room".
The room was small and very basic. There was no shower gel or shampoo and not even a spoon for making your tea or coffee. If we had paid 60 a night then you would not mind, so you are paying more for the entertainment and pool. If you are not going to use these then there are much nicer places to stay in the area.

It was great to have a sauna for a change. However our experience was not favourable. This venue is not suitable for elderly people, there are too many steps, no handles to hold on to and too many kids. They should split the pool up for swimmers and families who want to play ball games. The worst part of the experience was on entering the pool there is a foot bath that you have to walk through.
This looks like drain water, it was dirty with bits of fluff and chunks of dirt in it. It is absolutely disgusting, this is the best place to get verruca's or athletes foot. Hygiene levels are extremely low here I am afraid. The staff are really friendly and helpful otherwise I would have given it 1 star, they should teach them to scrub the place down once in a while.

Lovely family hotel opposite the beach. All staff were attentive and welcoming. Food OK, carvery style buffet. Drinks are very expensive and the entertainment is not great for adults. Children however are well catered for with activities everyday. Nice little swimming pool and games area. The tired rooms let this place down. We have stayed in upgraded and standard rooms.
I recommend a room on the newer side of the building, modern brighter and cleaner. Standard in the main block are small, dark and need upgrading. No fridges, no iron, small towels. Rooms do have kettle and hairdryers.

Be so careful when booking. DO NOT BOOK IF STATES ANNEX STAY. This should not be allowed to be booked or stayed in as below standard and extremely dirty! Came for a weekend away for Easter with my husband and toddler however cancelling and heading home as the room on the annex block is absolutely disgusting and below standard. Bedding used and heavily stained with make up, cups used and not washed and towels used and not been replaced. Floors heavily stained, bathroom dirty.
Can't say anymore other than dirty and with Covid cleaning expectations should be better than ever however clearly forgotten about or used when busy as an extra source of income. Walk to the annex block is around the back of the hotel down the side is far from safe! Be very cautious if you were on your own. Reception stated that the pics seen on website are deluxe rooms, not acceptable response for customer service however to state even if they class this as standard it still isn't meeting half that! Not recommended!

What a gem of a place this is. How this is only rated as a 2 star hotel I don't know. The system must be broken as this is a great hotel. The rooms are basic and functional, but (and this is the more important part) the staff are ALL genuinely happy and helpful making the atmosphere there so relaxing and pleasant. Our 6yo loved the entertainers in the evenings, the games room and the pool.
We didn't get chance to attend the children's arts and crafts room but saw others having fun there. The restaurant served a great breakfast and the evening meals were reasonably priced, delicious and with enough variety. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend it.

As good as usual, been coming for years and will continue to. Great for families, all staff are always so welcoming, helpful and nothing is ever too much trouble. Few places within the hotel need changing or updating or a good clean i.e playpen in kids swimming pool. The room we had deluxe was really lovely and clean and even managed to put us a cot in the room too. All in great hotel and will always keep coming as long as prices are decent

This hotel is in a lovely location for the beach at St Anne's. The pool was a great addition to our stay and the sauna a bonus. The only disappointment was despite booking the offer of a 2 night mid week break free dinner, when making the booking and subsequently attending the hotel was advised the booking rate was bed and breakfast only and the free dinner was at a premium rate. So not really free upgrade when booking a 2 night midweek break. The room was clean and well equipped and breakfast was very nice with lost of choice.
