We stayed in room 2 which has beautiful views and a lovely bath. It's a great location but a poor night's sleep. There's a lack of maintenance and or attention to detail. The light outside the room didn't work, both bed side lights didn't work and one of the wall lights didn't work. The bathroom blind was partially broken (can't adjust tilt of blinds) and the shower temperature jumps between hot & cold.

The mattresses need replacing, the springs are very noticeable in your back. Not sure if it's a room or staff accommodation above room 2, but on our second night all we could hear above us were people stomping (and running?) around which resonates loudly in the room. On top of that, all the light fixtures rattle with every footstep above, turning the room where you're trying to sleep into a tambourine.

We must have visited while the chef was away as the food (evening & breakfast) was really poor - see picture of "lasagne". Didn't snap a pic of the Brussels pate starter, clearly straight out of a supermarket packet. Saw others also leaving food very shortly after it was served. It's a shame as older pictures & reviews of food here seem great.

Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent food at a reasonable price. Rooms are lovely with fantastic views of the loch. This was not our first visit and definately won't be our last.

Great, friendly staff. I stayed in Room 8 - a large double with en-suite with a partial view of the loch. Very clean and very comfortable. 2 nights of great sleep. I didn't get the chance to eat here. Communal areas are welcoming if a little dated. The owners are working through everything they can, to update and improve - but it's not an overnight process. I'd happily return, next time I'm in the area.

On arrival 19.30 and looking forward to a warmrelaxing evening I was told by the Manager (I presume) that if I wanted dinner then I would need to be down quickly bas the kitchen was closing and there was no breakfast being served the next morning as not enough guests staying!.On rushing down I was ushered to my table in a cold allbeit tastefully decorated dining room by the Manager?,w hereby I precede to kept waited without being offered a drink which I then had to ask the waiter/manager for after he took my order only when prompted by my intimating that I was ready to leave the very quiet restraurant.(Wish I had!;as ordered the Guinness steak pie and new boiled potatoes with salad.

The steak pie was small, gravy hardly thick but the boiled? potatoes would have needed a Chainsaw to cutthem!.I did tnotice the waiter/manager look at my attempts to cut them or even get my fork to pierce them to no avail but he just looked non-plussed. I must have spent all of 10 mins at the table before my long awaited looked forward dinner wasn't happening.

No reaction from non-plussed waiter/manager even after I asked him if the chef was in a hurry to get home at 7,45 (Hence the raw potatoes) but again no reaction. Judging by his appearance Wrinkled shirt and jeans;maybe he just didn't care what sort of food or impression they gave out to people unfortunate enough to experience the dreadfull service;shame as like I said nice, fresh decor in the restraurant although the lovely centre piece fire wasn't lit despite having logs there to burn (And in a forested area) and rooms were nice also but sadly let down by uncaring and lack of professionalism. In front of house and kitchen staff

The hotel is in a nice location but the room was dirty and small (economy). On the small window, the curtain was drawn down to hide the living spider that has its shelter since some time there as its web is all around the pane. Another spider we had to kill from the wall opposite to the window. Our bathroom towel got black stains from the floor and the bed mattress was hard and the pillows too low.

Wouldn't recommend. Hotel Common rooms: The whole living room was very cold and dark. The bar had too little variety of drinks and the restaurant only had one sort of IPA available. The food was quite nice though. I would definitely consider some renovation works and some more atmosphere-building techniques (e. G. Light in the common rooms). Things seem to be a little bit 'covered up' but the hotel needs more care.

This was genuinely the most horrific hotel we've ever stayed in. We came for our wedding night as we had organised a small, short notice wedding and wanted to go somewhere nice for the night. The room was truly disgusting - bits of old, mouldy flaking wallpaper lying on the floor, dirty black candles round the bath and ring marks on EVERY surface.

The "fire door" had huge gaps all round the side and the room wasn't even locked when we got into it. The most upsetting part of all was that the best is by far and away the most uncomfortable and PAINFUL bed we have slept in. There was two flat as a pancake pillows (I can't even describe how pathetic they were) so we had to immediately go and find someone to ask for more. Sleeping on the bed was truthfully excruciating.

We had the worst sleep of our lives and we left early because it was a nightmare. Our plans of a lovely walk the day after were ruined because we were shattered. The hotel NEVER (and I mean NEVER) answer their phone. They don't have staff on reception most of the time - instead they have a sign saying email or text if you need something! What about older people who don't have access to these during their stay!?

I emailed the owner to complain who has ignored me. I've just tried ringing the mobile from the sign they put up at reception and he tells me the owner is away in Spain until March! I can now see that all their money is spent sunning themselves whilst they let the hotel fall into disrepair and rob us of our hard earned cash.

I loved this amazing view to the loch! The staff was very polite and they even gave us better rooms than the ones we had booked as the hotel wasn't very busy. Definitely try the food in the restaurant, it was amazing! The breakfast can be better though, very basic options. However whatever is cooked like omelettes were very good, the chef is definitely really good.

The building is old and refurbishment is in progress from what we saw from our rooms. Just being more careful with the cleaning is my only complaint but still wasn't bad but definitely can be better. We will visit again! Ps obviously the photo from the room is the next morning after we slept, we didn't find it like this. Just forgot to take a picture when we checked in.

Dated, cold and noisy. We expected a cosy lodge with a roaring fire and some peace and quiet, but we got a large icy cold room with very audible traffic and eerily empty reception. Would not recommend, given all the other good options in the area.

I can't understand the lower reviews. I usually stay in boutique hotels- meaning I'm too picky even for a Hilton/Maldon/etc- and I thought this place was totally charming. Stayed 3 nights in one of the Double Room with Loch View, and I am thrilled. It was clean, comfortable, and you cannot beat the view. Staff was kind and helpful, and responsive when I emailed before my arrival. Came late November 2021, and it was a bit chilly in the common areas, but who cares when everything else is lovely- that's what a sweater is for! 113 pounds a night, honestly not bad.

Huge (I mean HUGE) tub. I had a cozy wrap for the car I brought in, and sat in the chairs near the window drinking tea. Would recommend to anyone. Also- if you pop in when the front desk isn't staffed, you should walk to the end of the drive on the far end, and cross the road to the small path down to the beach (see the photo) for some stunning Loch views.

Front area has picnic tables, a little pebbled area that would be nice for more outdoor seating (honestly you could do a nice event outdoors here, anniversary party or a small wedding). I suggest emailing ahead about dinner, especially during the low season as most hotels and restaurants in Scotland seem to have limited hours and often are closed Monday-Wednesday. I was the only person in the dining room tonight, and everything was delicious and the staff was great. Happy as can be.

Lovely room the rest of the hotel was very tired in need of upgrading. Nobody at reception until 3 o'clock bar closed at 21.30 hrs on a Saturday night and no breakfast on Sunday as well as a disappointing meal. will definitely not be going back

Lovely hotel, much better than 3stars. Staff all polite and friendly, food delicious. View from our room over Loche Linhe in photos is spectacular, will definitely be coming back. Brilliant base for Fort William, Glencoe and Ben Nevis. Ideally need a car, but not necessity as near enough to surrounding places for taxi. Can't recommend enough!

Views are great and friendly staff, but hotel itself is very tired. Needs urgent refurbishment! Cleanliness in room was very poor, dusty shelves, bathroom tiles with dirty buildup, shower head taped up with scotch tape, rusty bathroom heated towel rail. Would I stay here again?. Sorry but NO, as it's definitely not worth 100 a night.

Plus points water was hot, room clean, food edible and staff fairly friendly. Unfortunately the hotel was bare and tired, our loch view room did not represent the photographs online, there was a damp patch on the ceiling, chipped paint and worse of all the bed was HORRENDOUS - sagging with the springs totally gone. For the price paid to stay here a comfy bed is a minimum requirement - would not recommend!

Wonderful! We could see the Loch from our bed, what a beautiful view. Room large and comfortable, bath and separate shower, view of the Loch from the bath! Staff lovely, great food, lovely hotel, would definitely recommend, would love to go back

Lovely position for a hotel and we had a spacious room overlooking the loch. Staff were very polite and helpful-though there didn't seem to be enough of them. Sometimes the wait was quite long (not their fault as they were working hard, simply too many guests for the number of staff). Our room was very clean with good facilities. Bed not very comfy (probably time to replace it).

Dinner in the restaurant was very nice. Staff friendly, but again seemed overworked. Hygiene was good. Food was tasty. Breakfast was slightly disappointing, mainly due to the coffee (which I am pretty sure was cheap instant coffee despite the hotel advertising a nice brand). Perhaps the 10 breakfast on Sundays doesn't include the nicer coffee. Staff were helpful and friendly, hygiene was good. Overall a pleasant place to stay, and very good value. However I wonder if a slightly higher price and more staff would make it even better.

The hotel is beautiful, lovely views, the staff are so attentive. The room was lovely, spacious and most of all clean! We got there after closing time and the owner came out of his room and was very kind and friendly and gave us a room for a very good price especially with how exceptional the hotel, the room and the views are. The person who sorted out our breakfast noticed that we needed more butter and brought it to us! Thank you so much if we could give this a score it would definitely be 20/10! Couldn't be more thankfull. Xx
