Was treated to a birthday meal there, and it was exceptional. The service was attentive and incredibly friendly. The food was cooked to perfection, bar staff and waiting staff very good and interacted with the whole group in a very professional manner. I cannot fault the evening at all. The rooms are lovely to stay in. We'll worth the money. And hats of to the chefs, amazing food, great presentation.

Stayed overnight with friends for a spa break a few months ago. We were very impressed with hospitality. Exceptionally friendly staff, clean facilities. We got a room for each of us. Rooms are good size for single occupancy. I slept through the night which I rarely do when at home. The afternoon tea was absolutely delicious, not too sweet and just the right amount for me. The spa was a bit too basic and small for my liking, but can't fault it for the pricing. All in all, I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel.

This is a proper hotel. Not some characterless converted office block belonging to a bland chain. It's been renovated recently and tastefully - the event rooms look magnificent now. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, the food was first class and the gardens are simply gorgeous. And then there's the spa with pool. I chose a spacious room which was certainly that and very comfortable. I love coming here and hope to do so again very soon. Thank you.

Beautiful hotel, everything looked and felt excellent quality, tastefully decorated in keeping with the stylish buildings. Everywhere we saw was spotlessly clean, newly decorated, and the grounds and spa were immaculate. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Our room seemed much bigger than we had booked.

It was my first time in the area and I had to slow down my car to take in the beauty of the surrounding areas. It was a very pleasant drive. Very important is that the spa hotel has lots off car parking space and the hotel is happy to reserve 3 spaces for your guests if you have an event. Staff is friendly and they have lots of comfortable seating areas in lobbies while you wait.
Event halls are beautiful and the event coordinators are always willing to go above and beyond to help you enjoy the best of your event. I would update this review after my event but so far, I only have pleasant things to say

I have not stayed as a guest but I've only ever visited events. The staff have always been pleasant and efficient, I've never had a different experience. I used to work in events and that was most certainly not always the case with hotels! So to experience that reassures me about The Spa enormously. The place is always spotless and the reception is a lovely spacious area to relax with a cup of tea.perfect if you are meeting someone and very welcoming.
I can't comment on the accomodation but the meeting rooms I've been in are large and spacious. The acoustics are not the best without mics and speakers but I am guessing that could be overcome. Over a great experience for the bits I have used The Spa Hotel for.

Very disappointing experience. I booked afternoon tea for 9 guests in a private room. We were largely left to our own devices. In fact one waiter was extremely rude on 2 occasions, one guest's dietary requirements had not been catered for despite detailed descriptions of guests' requirements. It was suggested that a small side salad be shared with a guest who has a dairy allergy.the salad was covered in blue cheese! Sandwiches largely displayed on dinner plates rather than the tower displays we associate with afternoon teas. Bizarre choice of cakes not at all what you'd expect and certainly not in line with the hotel's marketing material - a chocolate mousse slice is definitely not finger food!
Apple pie? The whole experience was underwhelming and overpriced. A jug of tap water & cordial - 9! Thank goodness I insisted on an itemised bill (had to ask 3 x) as I had been overcharged. Save your money and go to one of the lovely little cafes in the Pantiles for afternoon tea.

Lovely morning spent in the gym, pool, sauna before having a full body massage. The pool is pretty small so was a tad crowded with 5 of us trying to swim lanes. I would like to suggest that you turn some of your running machines around so you can see the gorgeous view of the garden. I'd much prefer to see that than a TV screen or mirror image of myself working out!

Booked a solo retreat for a long weekend and despite the weather wasnt as great, still had a very relaxing ad comfortable stay. The service was top notch and although the health suite was a bit small, lucky the times I used them were quiet times. Quality tea, coffees and biscuits provided on a daily basis an decent size bathroom. Will definitely return the next time hopefully with better weather so I can explore the garden grounds more.

The spa and treatment was lovely. Cannot fault the treatment as it was beautiful. Facilities were lovely and clean. Pillows were like tissue paper so i would recommend taking your own, although the bed was lovely. Vegan menu wasn't advertised so we had to go elsewhere for dinner, as 2 of our party was vegan, only to find in check out that there is a vegan menu, it just wasn't posted or advertised on website!
I had a very disturbed night and was unable to sleep due to constant noise. Sound proofing in the hotel is beyond awful, if even existent.! Sounded like someone was constantly running about upstairs and my chandelier shook whenever upstairs moved. Constantly people walking around the hotel late at night which could be heard loudly in my room. Loud enough not to sleep and i am usually a good sleeper. Cleaners had the hoovers running at 7.30 am on a Sunday which I think is unacceptable when check out time is 11am and check in time is 3pm! Ended up checking out much earlier than anticipated (9am!) and didn't make the most of the spa facilities for our second day as was far too tired!
Completely ruined our trip. Such a huge disappointment as we were so looking forward to our overdue pamper! Raised these issues with reception upon check out and wasn't met with much sympathy at all. Will not be returning here or recommending to friends and family. Utterly disappointed considering the cost to stay!

Reception area is beautiful. Swift check in and lovely comfortable room with a very large bathroom. Everything clean and good biscuits with the coffee/tea facilities. Evening food was superb, good choice. Best steak hubby had ever had, so on his birthday, nice job! Service was a little hard to come by, but we weren't in a rush, so not a big issue. Breakfast was very good. Location to town makes it even better.

We stayed just for one night in a cosy double room. The room was great with plenty of space and a good bathroom. The pool area is really good although they had run out of towels when we arrived. The staff are very good - particularly Reception staff. 10/10 here. Breakfast was not so good. Limp fruit, burnt toast and a very questionable dollop of scrambled eggs meant that the experience wasn't great.
The staff in the dining room were very good though. Maybe a new breakfast chef is required! Would we stay again? Definitely. Lovely grounds, good price and great location. We'd have breakfast out though!

We made a return visit to The Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells this week, after a long journey from the West Country. We called in for a light lunch. We were directed to an airy orangery, which was laid out in an informal restaurant style. We both opted for salads - there was a choice of large or small portions and priced accordingly. We opted for small, but were amazed by how generous the meals were when they arrived.
So much so we had to ask if the order was correct! The dishes were well presented and particularly tasty. We rated the food highly and the staff were professional and friendly. The hotel was not too busy, and we found the atmosphere relaxing - which was exactly what was needed. Easy parking outside the front door too.

With reference to an earlier review, DO NOT assume every room has been refurbished. I stayed here on 7th April 2011 on the way back from Germany to Birmingham. It was an unusually warm period with temperatures in the area over 20 degrees C. When we opened the door of our room (I think it was 201 or 203) at around 6pm we were greeted by an overpowering wall of heat and a not particularly attractive smell.
The room was on the top floor and facing south so had been baked by the sun all day long and yet nobody had though to open any of the windows and no, there was no air con. We couldn't open the windows while we slept as the hotel is on a noisy main road and our room was just a few yards from it so we didn't have a particularly restful night.
The decor was bit dated and worn, the first thing you notice even before stepping into the room is that the carpet isn't secured by the door aperture and has become frayed. The wallpaper was of the naf type as seen in council houses on local tv news programmes with gaudy stripes below the daido rail and plain above - if the heat didn't keep you awake.
The swimming pool was out of action when we stayed and guest were being directed to the Ramada elsewhere in the town. When we mentioned the heat issue to the receptionist, we were told that those rooms hadn't been refurbished and hence they were 89 per night - we weren't offered the choice between a cheaper sweat box or a cooler dearer room, had we been told this 'cheap' room was a furnace we'd have gone elsewhere.
On reflection I'd have been better off plodding back to Birmingham than staying the night there as I was so exhausted on the next day. Positives are friendly staff, easy parking and the breakfast was OK too.

This really is an attractive, quality hotel. Tunbridge Wells has two really top end places (the other being the boutique Hotel du Vin which has been heavily reviewed here on Qype) and this is the larger and more mainstream of the two. I think it is denoted a four star but I've been to worse five star places! Trained, professional staff, upmarket facilities, groovy bar, loads of conference rooms and excellent cuisine. I live too close to ever need to stay there but otherwise this is an absolute asset to TW.

Very well refurbished hotel. This hotel is now a good 4 star and looking great - they have spent alot of money on it and the bedrooms are very well appointed. It has kept its traditional feel but with all the modern creature comforts! The breakfast was great too in a beautiful very grand room. The hot breakfast was served to you - and not the buffet style which always gets coldthe scrambled eggs were great - always a good sign! The hotel is not centrally located and does not advertise to be - it is a nice 10 min walk downhill ( and my be 20 mins back up hill) to the Pantiles area of town
