The hotel is needing a refurbishment. But the staff are very friendly and excellent at their jobs. Golfers have a drying room and the staff are willing to chat and help. 5 Stars.

Great hotel, close to the beach and to town. A small family-run hotel where you always get a good meal and great service. Also has a fantastic back garden for the long summer evenings, so the kids can play while the parents relax.

For a comfortable stay with friendly efficient staff, this is the place for you. Staff cannot do enough for guests and while the decor in some rooms maybe dated the have originally been done with good quality materials. Doggy rooms are brilliant

Young staff & inexperienced, poorly trained, poor management supervision. Basic tired 'hotel' just about clinging on to basic standards. However, it isn't that bad, just don't expect any kind of luxury. The staff do try but there's clearly a low level of investment from the owners. On its last legs.

Beautiful hotel a short walk from Troon beachfront Very cosy, comfortable feel with well appointed public rooms and dining areas with regular free music events like the new fortnightly blues jam sessions. A short walk also from main Portland St shopping area.

I have a mixed review after staying a Sat night and having dinner and attending a party in the Hotel. The welcome, service and food was excellent. Even though the servers were young they were attentive, polite and charming. However the room was a bit dire. The standard of cleaning was not good. The carpet looked filthy as it was covered in many many stains.

The bed and furniture looked very clean. However, the bed was obviously an old mattress and I woke a couple of times with hip and knee pain whch I did years ago when I had an old mattress. Despite the bathroom looking as it had been upgraded the cleanliness was also poor. I think the cleaners felt if they shut the blinds they didn't need to clean the window and surround.

Around the base of the toilet was yellow. I wiped it and the colour lifted onto a tissue. There was a massive cobweb from a sunken spotlight to the door frame. Luckily I don't have a problem with spiders. The floor didn't look clean and corners were obviously avoided. The shower had adequate pressure but wasn't great. The sink, mirror and cabinet did appear very clean.

My view was rubbish, but I only paid 75 for B &B and was a single person so maybe more expensive rooms would have a better view. If it hadn't been for the lovely service and chef I would have given only 3 out of 5.

A home from home for us and our rockin' friends. We head there to stay for the Winterstorm rock weekend festival. Great staff, excellent bar (with pool table btw) and the nicest night porter on the planet. Lovely grub for breakfast sets us up for the day. 10 minute walk from town centre and the beach is across the road along a 100 yard path. It's an old style place which we love. Always somebody up for a chat. Stayed there 3 times and it's been 5 stars all the way. Thank you South Beach Hotel, our winter weekend would not be so good without you.

What an absolute gem of a hotel. Lovely, welcoming and friendly staff. Room was very impressive and spotlessly clean. We ate here and would recommend that also. Very good service and choice and served piping hot. Would definitely recommend the hotel and restaurant to other travellers.

What a gem of a hotel. Located near South beach, hence the name. Comfortable rooms, Great food. If you are on the West Coast and need a hotel, this is the place to stay.

Nice food but nothing special. Service was nice and friendly but pretty poor, our drinks order took nearly half an hour to arrive. Can't see us rushing back.

We stayed here for 1 night and will be returning. The place has lots of young staff that are truly wonderful. They were polite and could not do enough for you. The atmosphere was lovely and the room was lovely and spacious. I would say it was TRUE dog friendly hotel and could. It be more accommodating if you have your pet with. Well done

Spent one night here because we attended a wedding, greeted with a friendly welcome. Our room first class beds comfortable, plenty of room clean and tidy I would recommend this hotel.

Been here this week with coach of holiday makers for the week. A warm welcome from Stuart and a great hotel and staff. The food was hot and very nice and a great choice and plenty of it. This hotel is worth a visit and to stop over you will be looked after from start to finish

Best beer garden in Troon! Food and service from the restaurant is second to none! As delicious as they are, I recommend trying beyond the usual fried favourites from the menu- you will not regret choosing from the Chefs selections.

Only used the new beer garden for birthday meal but excellent food, service and great value will be back.

We visited the beer garden today with the intention of eating there. We had been in previously but not to eat, everything looked delicious so decided to bring my mother and sister to try the food for ourselves. We were told that you didn't serve food until 16.00 so we went shopping and came back at 15.50. When we asked for a menu we were told that the specials hadn't been decided on yet. We waited until 16.10 and asked again, we were then told that food wasn't being served until 17.00. We couldn't wait that long so we left very disappointed.

We had a beautiful meal outside last night, great service, delicious food and drinks and stunning weather! It was a fitting end to my husband's 75th birthday! We will definitely be back soon. Johnny, you are a fabulous chef!

This is one of the most friendly and helpful hotels we have ever stayed. My brother in law has mobility issues and every member of staff went above and beyond to be so helpful. Food and service was fantastic as. was the rooms and public areas. Can't wait to make a return visit and stay in this wonderful family run hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay

Good value privately owned Hotel, traditionally furnished and exceptionally clean hotel.good sized room with all the facilities you need.good breakfast, no complaints defiantly stop here again if visiting Troon
