My daughter has just had her wedding at the hotel and it was very well managed with attentive staff responding to matters as they arose. Five stars for the wedding but the hotel does have issues elsewhere. Ths spa complex whilst now open remains after a very extended non operational period without its swimming pool, which is important if you wish to use the steam room/sauna, and was not open the morning my son and his cousin wished to use it. One of the courtyard hotel room had a non functioning telephone and television which were deemed unrepairable. Without those issues the rating would be five star.

Wasn't sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. Golf shop was excellent, the bar was good and the course definitely worth a 2nd or 3rd visit. Great tees, greens and fairways. A selection of varying holes. Driving range and putting green just before the 1st tee was ideal. Well done Seckford Hall.

Beautiful hotel in lovely, peaceful and well-maintained grounds. Our four poster room was an unexpected bonus. Haven't slept so well in ages! Great bar meals, and a beautifully cooked breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful too. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

Sunday Sleepover at Seckford Hall. Good value for money, one night including dinner/breakfast and use of spa. Beautiful surroundings and next to Seckford Golf Course (pay and play). Within walking distance to Woodbridge. Seckford Hall is a lovely building, very atmospheric with quirky touches. With such an old building do not expect perfection! Some areas need attention to bring it up to a four star status.

A few issues with our allocated room which were resolved promptly without any fuss. Staff attentive and friendly and service generally good. Menu imaginative, portion size more than adequate and quality/presentation good. Good atmosphere all round.

We stayed for two nights at the beginning of April. The grounds are beautiful and are covered with spring flowers, there are also footpaths around the hotel, which is situated on a quiet lane surrounded by fields. The staff are polite, friendly and work hard to ensure your stay is a happy one. We forgot to book for dinner our second night so a table was set up for us in the Lounge, where we had brilliant service.

We had the Seckford Room which is full of sixteenth century furniture. The bed was a four posted but with a modern, comfortable mattress. We enjoyed our short break in this beautiful part of Suffolk.

Great hotel. Lots of charm and character. We had a lovely dinner. The Dry Aged steak was delicious. Staff attentive and polite. 5 Star every day of the week. Not expensive. Thank you for a great stay. Philip and Maria

What a lovely hotel, great rooms and the staff were so nice. The food was amazing. Good selection and beautifully presented. The breakfast was lovely too and freshly prepared. Only tiny minus was the shower in the room wasn't very powerful. Would definitely stay here again.

Really pleasant visit. Have also stayed here and genuinely feels like a trip back to the medieval days. Air con generators can be a bit noisy for some of the rooms and the bathroom decor is not really in keeping with the era or indeed modernised to a standard you would expect. Food is excellent, the rooms comfortable and the grounds are extensive and interesting with some lovely gardens a nice lake and courtyard in which to have a drink. The spa needs refurbishment as the sauna and 'gym' are very old but the pool is a good size clean and perfect temperature. I would recommend Seckford Hall for a visit.

I feel that some of the reviews for Seckford are a little harsh and pretty unfair. We spent one night at Seckford this February and couldn't fault it. The building is stunning outside and equally stunning inside. The staff were always welcoming and friendly. We took a standard double room, it was lovely, not huge but had a lovely 4 poster bed with a couch and a lovely bathroom with a bath!

We had lunch and breakfast, food was lovely. I had pancakes for breakfast and my hubbie had the smoked haddock and eggs and it was beautiful. The floors are a little creaky, there's no elevator and some windey staircases, but this is a period building so of course there's no elevator, the stairs add to the charm! The grounds are really pretty and are nice to stroll around!

The pool wasn't open but it does state pretty clearly on all of the correspondence we had with the hotel that the pool isn't open so this was no surprise so don't really feel people can complain that they weren't aware of this. Honestly when I read the previous reviews I was a little nervous but actually was really happy with our stay! Lovely hotel and would definitely recommend!

Lovely grounds and restaurant and staff lovely. Some issues with room but quickly resolved. They are clearly in process of updating, and I look forward to seeing the continued upgrades to make for a more luxurious stay. Real shame the pool is out of action but one of those things!

We spent our wedding night here 37 years ago so it seemed fitting to return today on my wife's birthday albeit just for morning coffee. On arrival at 10.30am we opened the entrance door and we were confronted by a pair of unatended steps, no lights on and no one to be seen. We likened it to The Marie Celeste. As we rounded the corner there was a man sitting in his pyjamas in reception drinking a coffee and sounded full of cold on his phone of course!.

I asked if there was anyone around to help us. He said that he would take a look so he obviously work there. After a five minute wait and nobody showing we left! The day before we had been lucky enough to have afternoon tea at Hintlesham Hall and it was superb! We hoped for the same service here. Any explanation for this Seckford Hall? 3 x days have passed and no response.

Avoid this place as they haven't got the courtesy to reply. Still no response after a month! I guess that's what happens when you only respond to 5 star reviews! Unbelievable!

Christmas party for work. Seated in a cold marquee crammed with tables. Very noisy. Disappointed that was no soft drink on arrival, everyone was offer a martini (which everyone said was disgusting) the alternative being water on the table or buy your own soft drink. Not worth 55 if you're not going to dance but wish to socialise.

My wife and I have previously stayed at Seckford Hall, enjoying a really nice stay, so when the offer of a promotional voucher became available we gladly took it, I really wish we hadn't. We had a really nice room, unfortunately the balcony had obviously not been cleaned in some time, with numerous cigarette ends littering it, in various states of decay.

The room was generally quite clean, but attention to detail was poor, with pockets of dust and dirt in various places, including a hair grip left in plain sight on the bathroom floor. However, our main issue was the heating, or more to the point, the lack of. Reading back over various reviews this seems to be a reoccurring problem going back at leat five months, and possibly more.

We were told there was a problem with the boiler, something other guests seem to have also been told in the past, but little or no attempt seems to have been made to rectify it. We never used the bath or shower as the bathroom was doing an excellent impression of a walk-in freezer, although we did have a small fan heater to take the chill off of the room.

When I mentioned this to staff, I was told it was only the outer extremities of the building that were affected and that the heating was working in most of the building. This was simply not true, I wandered through the building during the evening feeling ever radiator I could find, and none were working. In the dining room several female guests were wearing short sleeved attire, and I noticed them continually rubbing their arms.

I am assuming one group of guests had stayed more than one night as they came dressed as though they had just come in from a country walk. All were wearing jumpers, most were also wearing body warmers, one woman was even wearing a coat, several scarves were also on display. Our waitress Anna was a star though, she was polite and professional throughout the evening and was extremely attentive to the needs of all the guests there.

I raised our concerns during our stay, and again on departure, I felt some token of attrition would be in order, perhaps by discounting our 42 drinks bill, or even the 24 bottle of wine at dinner; a small price for the hotel as this particular bottle of wine retails for approximately 7.50 - 8.00, but nothing was offered. I have sent an e-mail outlining our stay and the above mentioned problems some twelve days ago, however I have received neither a response, or even acknowledgement.

I can only assume from this that management do not care about customer service, or concerns, merely their profit margin. We will not be staying again, there are plenty of similar, beautiful, historical hotels to choose from, the fact this was to celebrate my wife's birthday, something the staff were aware of made it even more disappointing. The two stars I have give are, one for the building, which is nice, and one for Anna, who was a trouper for working in a very cold environment which I suspect may well have been below legal working condition limits.

Beautiful Place. Had our wedding reception there back in '73, celebrated our Silver there in '98 hoping to go back for Gold in 2023!

AMAZING, felt looked after during our stay, which was for a special persons 50th Birthday. All the staff are friendly, helpful and professional, a nice personal touch leaving a Birthday card from the staff (which was appreciated). Our room (Junior Suite) was warm, clean, spacious and cosy. We ate in both the bar and the restaurant 1530. 1530's food was gorgeous and we dined at our paced not feeling rushed. Thank you all.

The most terrible weekend away in a hotel I have ever had. I chose this place because it was my partner's birthday treat. I booked it because it had a nice restaurant, spa and swimming pool. I booked the spa for my partner and a special birthday dinner. When we arrived I was told the pool was closed and (no notification on the website when I booked) And even though I booked a table in the restaurant and had a confirmation email they said it was not on there system. Do there wasn't a table available. The person on reception was not very helpful and rude. The room had no working heating and we woke up to find cockroaches on the floor.

My wife and I stayed at Seckford Hall for two nights using a 'Red Letter Day' voucher that I had given her for her birthday. It's a very quaint old building, so very atmospheric, but has winky wonky floors, steep stairs, no lift, doors that won't shut etc. Just like being back in Jacobean times I imagine. Nevertheless, it's very comfortable and they treat you very well. The restaurant serves good food, although they don't know how to cook a cheese souffle which was a dried up old thing. Probably Jacobean.

I don't often bother posting reviews, but I felt that the recent negative reviews were unfair (especially 18 months into a pandemic, which must be a very challenging time for a hotel business). We stayed last night & i had checked out the reviews a couple of days beforehand, many of which weren't great. But I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were all lovely & really helpful without exception.

They upgraded our room & gave us a slightly later checkout time. The food was simple but delicious, good quality & cooked perfectly. Yes maybe some of the decor is ready for a freshen up, but this didn't affect our stay. The building is stunning. It is a shame that the pool & jacuzzi are closed, but this seems beyond their control. It would be good if they let you know this at the time of booking, rather than in the email confirmation. Thanks for a lovely stay!
