Alton Towers splendid location in the heart of the Staffordhire Moorlands has one disadvantage! Apart from the on-site hotel there is little local accommodation nearby. The Three Queens Lodge was built with families going to Alton Towers in mind. Each Family room is, on average, 1/3rd larger than the national chains of Inns and Lodges giving your family plenty of space for those travelling extras. With peeling paintwork and overgrown courtyards Calke Abbey tells the story of the dramatic decline of a grand country-house estate.
We offer a range of room types, rates and packages to suit all needs. Whether you are just simply looking for a bed for the night, a rate which includes a freshly cooked breakfast to kick start your day.

Did not even stay the night got bitten by something on my ankle, the room smelt of cigarette smoke that had been in the room for years and gotten into the carpets, curtains and walls made me feel sick and clothes smell. Some one tried my door more than 3 occasions why I was their, couldn't asked to be moved rooms as when I checked in they had one ground floor the other was 2 floors up and I'm disabled and can't mage the stairs.

Also stated ther was a leak in the room and the floor was wet! The hall out side my room was pitch black no lighting and I felt very unsafe and had a panic attack. Thee rooms are very dated and do not look any thing like the photos in the reviews.iv added photos of the dark unsafe hallway outside my room!

I feel duped. There is no bar despite the reception lady telling me that I was closed this week. (Locals in the pub opposite told me it hadn't been open for three years!). There is no restaurant even though the website shows photos of a restaurant. The traffic noise is horrendous! My mattress is very hard. Never again.

I booked multiple rooms for a wedding happening in just a few months time. This was all confirmed by email. However I then received another message to say it was cancelled due to the owner deciding not to take bookings more than 2 weeks ahead. When I rang to ask why I was rudely treated and moaned at by a woman who then hung up the phone when I asked to speak to a manager. Absolutely shocking and not somewhere I would ever recommend to anyone.

Pros I had a suite with a chandelier and four poster bed. It was comfortable, huge bathroom with shower too, tea and coffee in room. Cons it's dated and it's in the middle of town so it took a while to get there. It's decent for a budget hotel and I felt safe so thumbs up.

Shared a twin room, lovely and spacious. Good size bathroom. Nice and clean, wish I'd tested pillows before bedtime. Could have done with softer pillow. Would stay here again.

We only stayed one night. The staff were nice but the hotel room was pretty bad. Superficially the sheets looked clean, bathroom seemed clean but the carpets were stained, very worn out, the windows had broken glass, decor was very old, bed and mattress were also very worn. The bathroom lights were very odd, purple/pink in colour. Overall just felt dirty.

Love this place! Firstly, it's great value for money. I've stayed in so many shiny, symmetrical cookie-cutter shoeboxes within the same price range, but I prefer real character everytime. The executive suites are spacious and clean, but the original features throughout are most charming. This building dates date to 1531, and it shows! The wonky corridors and warped staircases, combined with the sheer scale of the hotel, carry an immersive sense of history. Quintessentially English.

Room was stuffy when it arrived. The window was difficult to open and I had to use a shoe to prop it open. The bath was coming away from the wall and the remote control for the TV did not work. Tatty furniture and no breakfast facilities. Bed was comfortable and plenty of clean towels. Overall not a pleasant experience and will not be using again.

If I could give a "no star" review I would. Our "suite" was absolutely shocking and dirty. Carpet stains and dirt, bugs in the bathroom (complete with out-dated electronic hair dryer in the bathroom that looked like it was from the 70's that you didn't want to touch in case you got a shock from it), dirty towels left on the back of the bathroom door, thick dust on beside lamps, folded up crisp packet propping up bedside cabinet. I could go on and on. Avoid at all costs!

65 per night for a 'hotel' with no bar and no kitchen so no breakfast, even though when the room was booked it included breakfast. No refund either. Then find out that staff deliver take away breakfasts every day to long staying residents who are paid for by the local council. Make your own conclusions.

This is an amazing hotel, Staff are so helpful and friendly and want to help in anyway they can. It wasn't the best reason why I had to stay here (my husband was in the local hospital) but they went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. My room was clean and tidy on arrival and was cleaned there after everyday. The cost of the hotel was good too. Complimentary water whenever I wanted it and tea and coffee facilities in the room. I would happily to stay here again but hopefully under better circumstances for me.

The staff were very lovely but the rooms themselves were absolutely shocking. Our group had 4 rooms and every single one of them was covered in dust, stains and all had a strange smell about them. The mattresses didn't fit the bed size and were overhanging off the sides. Bed side lamps didn't work, and one of them was glass and it was all cracked!? Toilet paper on the floor in the bathroom. it was just not a pleasant stay in the slightest.

Checked in last Friday and checked out! Dried toothpaste spit all over the taps and sink, someone else's saliva.on the tap.in A PANDEMIC! serious risk to health and safety, bathroom was disgusting and clearly hadn't been cleaned since last occupied, other ominous "dried fluid" all over the dressing table (partner thinks it was vomit but who knows?!?!) still waiting for the "owner" to contact us a week on! detailed photos available for anyone wanting to see

A means to an end meant we booked this hotel. However very happy with the room, facilities and an unbelievable price. Will definitely use again (& again).
