I stayed in the Prince Rupert Hotel some time in the nineties. It was a reunion with college friends. I have very happy memories of my stay. The hotel was superb, arranging a special room for us to meet. The food was super, the staff were helpful, and I am hoping to stay there again one of these days, with my son and daughter. I loved Shrewsbury the town, one of my favourite places, with so much to do. It reminded me a lot of Durham, with its river, castle, cathedral, narrow streets etc.

The hotel itself is warm and friendly wonderful atmosphere, nothing seems to be too much trouble for any of the staff, Breakfast certainly in my top 10,W e stayed three nights in a very comfortable bed with plenty of room and a lovely bathroom in the Princess Elizabeth suite. This is not a prince this is a king of hotels great value for money will certainly go up again just for the hotel and great place of Shrewsbury.

Staff were so lovely and helpful. Breakfast delicious and plentiful. Location was amazing. Bedrooms and bedding were super clean- some of the furniture, doors and walls needed a bit of TLC. But I'm not judging, as Covid could have impacted on this being undertaken. Tips Ask for a quiet room if going with a family or needing peace- as the pub next door was a tad loud.
Ask for detailed directions to the car park as the sat nav postcode it too generic. Again- really fantastic staff and very ambient in the downstairs communal area. Thank you.

Room 312 is very small. The 'Double bed' is the shortest bed I have ever been in, at 6ft tall my legs hung over the edge. The wardrobe is tiny and a table and chair had to be moved out of the way first in order to access it. The noise from the nearby nightlife was horrendous and continued past midnight. Surely when booking, guests should be advised of this?
The bathroom:- Very low pressure shower, meaning I had to stand very close to the wall, and not then able to shower properly due to restricted movement. Nowhere to hang used Towels to dry and bathroom radiator to small to hang bath towels on, so towels had to be placed over closed toilet or side of the bath. Meaning they were still damp on the next day. Breakfast:- A good selection of food and drinks, however when our cooked food arrived it came without the eggs we had ordered.
We waited a while then spoke to a waitress (polite lady with ginger hair) who went to check, then returned to say they would do fresh eggs. By which time the rest of the food was cold, so the whole order had to be done again. The same waitress was very apologetic and professional in her manner. Overall:- Very friendly and helpful staff in a good location, but considering everything, just ok!

What a place to stay if you visit Shrewsbury, it has everything! Even a snooker room. The bar lounge is comfortable and well stocked and the dining room is a mix of medieval and contemporary and the staff are so friendly! It is In the center of the town so has fab access for everything. Not so great if you are in and out in a car, as access is tricky, but brilliant none the less.

Disappointing visit. Room 312 very small & dated. Bed length short & mattress hard, wardrobe small with a chair in front of it, lighting poor, ceiling light more suitable for a bathroom. Bathroom had a bath with overhead shower with poor pressure. Towel heater small & not on, couldn't fit more than a hand towel on it. In need of hooks on bathroom & bedroom doors.
A very noisy room which we weren't warned about. Breakfast not a good experience-sat at table 12 & it was very cold which on my inspection, was due to a fire door behind a screen being propped open with a candlestick. Ordered 2 cooked breakfasts which came minus our poached eggs, had plates taken away & was told by waitress there might be a wait to redo the breakfast due to others waiting.
Breakfast came, mine had 1 vegetarian sausage, when previously came with 2 & my poached eggs were slimy. Not the surprise, romantic getaway I expected, & it certainly wasn't, what I would call a cheap overnight stay. The only positive comment I can make is that the staff were very nice.

Lift was a bit off putting, it's small which is fine but the patterned carpet up the walls made my head spin! But the room was lovely, very clean and the bed was very comfy. Couple of lights werent working but wasnt a big problem. Breakfast was ok but the waitress was a bit huffy. Didnt eat there for lunch or dinner. Location is fab and loved the style of the hotel. Staff were friendly

The hotel's location was great, situated in the historic part of the town and within easy walking distance of all amenities. The staff were friendly and very helpful however they were clearly very short staffed and we had trouble locating someone who could serve us at the bar, and someone who could refresh the toiletries and loo roll in the room - as this wasn't done at all unless we asked.
We stayed for 3 nights in one of the Tudor Suites. Sadly the room didn't live upto our expectations. The bed was comfy but the bedroom furniture was terrible and looked as though it had all been bought from a jumble sale. The bathroom was new - big tick! Some areas of the bedroom hadn't been vacuumed for a very long time - yuk. We loved Shrewsbury but wouldn't stay there again.

Very nice hotel in the centre of Shrewsbury, the car park a very short walk away. I called ahead and the staff at the hotel were extremely helpful with directions. Had a very nice decor within the hotel, the rooms were nice but maybe could have a little refresh. I found that the people on the floor above me made the floorboards creak which caused some annoyance. The breakfast in the restaurant was very nice, food came out very quick and was really good. Even offered a complimentary glass of sherry on arrival!

Charming hotel with equally charming staff, Tamsin on reception was extremely friendly and helpful. Loved the offer of a complimentary glass of Sherry on arrival. Traditional hotel and there are some slightly tired areas but my room and bathroom were extremely clean. Being so central there is some noise from the local bars but that's the caveat when you stay so centrally. Overall a great stay.

Really welcoming and relaxing surroundings with a unique theme. The staff were very accommodating, offering to take photo's for us as it was a family gathering and even made something off the menu for one of our children. The food was wonderful and we look forward to visiting again someday soon. I've earmarked an armchair by the fire.;D
