First recorded in the Domesday Book as "Elbretone", today The Albright Hussey retains all the charm and character of its history. In 1292, to avoid confusion with other place names similar to "Albrighton" the name "Hussey" was added after the family who occupied it. The Hussey family remained here until the 17th Century, and the estate passed to the Corbets in 1634.
During this period Albright Hussey experienced a rich history. The Battle Of Shrewsbury was fought on nearby fields in 1403 and Royalist troops used it as a garrison in 1741.
