Based on the price of the room (80) this hotel did not meet our expectations. The customer service was sparse if not rude; there weren't any glasses to drink from; there was pubic hair in the shower on the wall; one flat pillow and a hard bed resulting in a poor night's sleep. The whole hotel smelt of fish. Our room was unfortunately pretty much above the wedding reception that went on until midnight. We expected much more for that price. It felt budget. Would've expected to pay 40 for this, not 80.

Looks lovey inside but horrid smell near reception n it was so cold. Sunday lunch chicken was very nice as was roast potatoes. But could not taste veg n roasted parsnips, way to much seasoning on them. Sliced roasted beef in gravy was very tough. Homemade Yorkshire pudding was lovely. Would go back.in summer might as well eaten outdoors that cold

I visited with a friend a few weeks ago after seeing good reviews on Facebook. We shared the Sunday lunch platter which was lovely. I cannot fault the food whatsoever! I think by the decor could perhaps do with a refresh. The carpet seemed rather worn and perhaps needs a good clean or replacing. I was confused at why the tables seemed to be banquet tables.
Call me old fashioned but I like to be sat at a proper sturdy, wooden table. I had to use the toilet whilst visiting but I wasn't quite sure where it was, so I asked a staff member. I was directed to a toilet down a set of stairs and it was truly awful! It wasn't pleasant at all in terms of smell, general repair or decor! and worst of all, there was no hand wash at all!
And then to top it all off we received the bill. I don't drink so had 2 pints of coke. I was very much so shocked to find that each coke was 3.90! I challenged the bill as it states 'draft' and was told that's normal. I've eaten in many places all over the place, and I'm certainly not a penny pincher by any degree! But that was just ridiculous. After many thoughts, I've presumed they charge the same for draft beer as they do draft soft drinks which is quite literally outrageous. Doesn't do much for drink driving does it? Would I return? For the food yes! Everything else - very doubtful. It's a real shame really.
