The original Turf Inn was built in 1810, becoming a private residence until 1854 when it was bought by the county. The building proudly housed the West Yorkshire Regiment of Matilda until 1882 when it again passed to private hands. In 1920 it was converted into accommodation for the stable lads and served the turf until it was purchased and converted into The Grand St. Leger Hotel.

Booked a room at this hotel on a Groupon deal for a weekend up in Doncaster. It's set in a decent location if you're driving in to town. The car park isn't secure so consider your belongings if driving. The hotel's location leaves you with a 12-15 minute walk in to the center, which includes the market and the Silver St experience. There's a bus stop just outside if you're not up for the hike.
We upgraded our room to the Deluxe. I'd have to recommend this if you'd like to bath with a friend. The tub is quite comfortable. However, the water pressure in the shower wasn't up to par. The floor is quite noisy in the room. And the bed isn't the most comfortable. Other than these small gripes, it's an excellent stay with a great staff. I'd book again if returning to Doncaster.
