Click through to sleep for details of our year round Dinner B&B rates and our special offers including our Sunday, September and Spring Sleepover. The Winter Escape will return the other side of Summer once the clocks go back. We want The Coastguard to be at the centre of its local community with beer and drinks prices set for its regular customers, not the incoming tourists. In between The Brecon Beacons and The Black Mountains, an inn that pulls you in, envelops you in a big cuddle and sends you to bed with a smile on you face.
Services
Eatdrinksleep is the company that Charles Inkin set up in 2000 to bring to life the newly refurbished Felin Fach Griffin. General Manager, Louis Vanhinsbergh, runs our team with the panache you'd expect of someone with such a glamorous surname. Keeping him in check is his right hand woman, and site's 2i/c, Lauren Howard.
Although the towns and villages around us are thinly populated, our local eating market is key to us. Our menus must demonstrate good value. We try to be a hub of the community. We host fund raising events for local bodies, make our contribution to village events, and support local charities. We encourage local suppliers to bring their produce to our kitchen door, although provenance is as much about husbandry and quality as geography. We take very seriously our responsibility for minimising our impact on the wider environment and demand the same of our suppliers.
Where to eat? At scrubbed pine or oak tables on the Upper Deck and in the bar, some perfect for groups of 10 or more. Nearly all with views to St. Clement's Isle. Or on the Sun Deck at sofas with just a pane of glass between you and the palm tree lined gardens. Or, best of all and more frequently than you might think, eat on the terrace looking down at the sun-dappled sea.
By serving decent sized spirit measures (35ml), we don't oblige you to order doubles: better for you and better value. And we mix our drinks properly. We try to have 3 hand pulled Cornish ales, usually from any of Skinners, St. Austell and our new favourites, Harbour Brewing, Padstow Brewing and Verdant.

The food is a RIP-OFF, and totally BELOW-PAR. For 24 for ALL main course meals, I expected at least reasonable quality and flavours, instead we got 2 little 2inch diameter pieces of pork on a leaf of cabbage and some hash brown thing. The pork was bland, lacking much moisture and the crackling was lacking flavour. The chips were well over salted. Only gave 2 stars because the waiting staff were nice and good at their job.
I only hope the fact the owners rip you off for 24 a meal, & sdd a service charge on, that they pay the staff way ABOVE the minimum wage! AVOID if you like your food to taste decent and if you like proper sized portions of food

Outstanding hotel. Very warm and professional greeting on arrival. Large bedroom (14) and large bathroom (bath, separate shower and wardrobe), and small balcony with table and four chairs. Friendly service throughout. Very good food. Spacious dining area and bar. Terrace and garden overlooking and sloping down to the sea. Five minute walk to Mousehole. Car park large enough for residents with some free on street parking nearby and also some paying carparks. Highly recommended.

Called in yesterday for a drink whilst out with the dog, what a fantastic place, really lovely staff very accommodating, I remember how it was about 20 years ago. Would highly recommend food and restaurant looked fab, and you have the most beautiful garden backing down onto the sea. Really lovely place to spend some time.

Not made to feel welcome and food was cold. Having stayed here before I hoped it would be a lovely treat to have Sunday lunch. Sadly we were sat at a table at the back with no light. Apparently if you want a table near a window you book three months in advance. Very slow service too which maybe why the food was cold

Sometimes you'd rather keep a favourite place a bit of a secret but the Old Coastguard Hotel at Mousehole has been through it over the last few years so I felt I had to share. With a fire that saw it close for almost 2yrs then, just as they were due to reopen, a pandemic shut everything down again. I love this place for its fabulously friendly and professional staff, for its relaxed vibe, for being totally dog friendly, for its gorgeous locally sourced food.
The breakfast table alone is a joy to behold when you come down in the morning. Lots of walking, Newlyn down the road with its fish market and an excellent art gallery. Penzance only a gentle 1hr stroll along the front where you can dip at the Jubilee Pool, enjoy some really surprisingly good architecture alongside some excellent independent shops and places to eat. Good luck Old Coastguard for better times ahead and thank you for giving us a very relaxing few days as always.

I went for a reservation at their restaurant and it was pretty busy but nonetheless a really nice place. Despite their food being good, the wait time was especially long and we sat there for an hour plus waiting for food. The staff were very friendly though and helped accommodate our needs despite the very long wait. I would recommend making a reservation beforehand because it could get really busy quick!
