Lunch with a friend. Excellent friendly staff, polite and efficient. Menu gives a good choice of dishes at different prices. Food was really good. Building is beautiful, quirky and full of character. Idea location, right by the river, National Trust House opposite and Shrewsbury not far.

Wow, I've lived locally for far too long without visiting this place! We came as a large party of 22 people, for a 3 course meal. The food came in good time, each course was delicious, and two among us were specially catered for as vegans and one with a garlic issue. They really looked after us. The beer selection is great, including the all-important Shropshire Gold!

The wait staff were really efficient at bringing the food and clearing the plates and picking up extra drink orders. There was a ketchup incident, but it was handled with style! I didn't catch our main waiter's name unfortunately but he was excellent, and it was really clear that he strives to do a great job and took pride in his service. I'll definitely come here again - it's rare I give 5 stars!

Friendly staff paid attention to us relaxing historic rural traditional hotel restaurant. The menu had a good fair priced selection of varied food options and types. I saw some mixed reviews on Google but nonetheless took a chance. The starter came, it was cooked to a high standard and was a good start to the evening meal. Then the mains arrived. Courteous staff waited on us. Started to tuck into mains, absolutely delicious, generous portions. Sadly.but in a good way.meal was so wholesome had not got room for desserts.

Selection of wines and ales/ lagers and soft drinks varied and fair priced. We highly recommend based on our experience of how the food was served and cooked at May 22. Beautiful location as well with the River Severn right by the bridge plus you can see straight away the building is full of history. Great place

Appalling service from management - we arrived on a beautiful spring day and wanted to sit and have lunch out in the garden area. We went inside to ask if we could move our table out of the shade and into the sunshine, a young girl said that was absolutely fine and just asked that we moved it back once we were finished. We were a large group of 7 and had just placed a lunch order totalling over 150.

We sat in the beautiful garden with our drinks when two junior managers, a man and woman, came over and very abruptly told us we should not have moved the table and we needed to move it back, immediately! We explained why we had moved it and that we had already asked permission from a member of their staff. They informed us that we were wrong the girl had said 'No' and the table needed to be moved back into the cold-shaded area because we would confused their table plan (we had move the table all of 10m.) We again explained that we were cold in the shade and asked if they could make an exception as it was a small garden with few tables so it wasn't a huge table plan to get confused.

The pair refused and were adamant that they would move the table back into the shade despite our reasoning, they were very abrupt and rude and lacked any customer service at all. We said we weren't happy to sit and eat in the cold so we would rather have a refund and go elsewhere. They were so adamant and lacking in common sense that that's what we did!

They had already cooked our food and had to refund us over 150 just because we weren't 'allowed' to sit in the sunshine. What awful customer service! I think this pub needs to realise what makes good customer service and create a better seating plan to help their inept staff!

Sunday lunch. Poor service (waiting forever to place orders, get drinks, have plates cleared), continually having to ask if we could place an order etc. Food wasn't great, warm - not hot, cauliflower cheese looked (and tasted) like it had been reheated many times, flavours weren't great. Continually try this place as really want it to be good and always find it less than great.

The food is absolutely gorgeous! It's been on our list of places to visit since we moved to Shropshire almost 2 years ago and it did not disappoint! The chef /chefs are unsung stars and their food deserves all 5 of these stars :

A really lovely hotel. We were lucky to be in the barn rooms and although the roofs were low, it was lovely. Arrived at night so couldnt make out our surroundings, but the next morning. wow. Lovely part of the country with lots of nice views. Great staff in the hotel helped us with everything we needed. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely hotel. Fantastic large room that was nicely done out and good value for the money. Great evening meal and breakfast. Unfortunately with the time of year we were unable to take advantage of the outdoor space. Hoping to return next year as a short drive to Shrewsbury Town centre.

Definitely worth a visit. This is my second Christmas party here. The rooms are beautifully decorated with period features and quirky floors. As an ex chef myself I can honestly say the food was Absolutely amazing, very tasty and presented beautifully. The breakfast was outstanding, 10/10 The staff are extremely attentive friendly and professional. Well done Mytton Mermaid for making my second stay delightful. Fantastic hotel. Beautiful building and surroundings. Old bridge and local church worth a visit. Church is made from Roman stone from Wroxeter. Very busy on a Sunday but food great. Parking bit of a problem.

Poor- no heating on late evening or at night. Temperature was -2 outside. Can't turn heating on and off from room. It's on a auto timer. We was sooo cold! Had to sleep in our coats. Was hoping for a nice warm shower to warm up. The shower in room 10 is awful. Electrical shower- Either too cold or too hot. Just switches and it burnt my skin. Worst night sleep ever in a hotel. Hotel needs a full refurbishment. Do not stay here.

Lovely setting by the river Severn. Stayed one night. Large room with large bed and large bathroom. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Good food, although not a large choice on menu. Excellent breakfast with vast selection of food. Very friendly and helpful waitress.

Lovely pub in a picturesque location, service was very friendly and efficient. Lovely pint of Doom Bar here! Food did not quite live up to the location and the price unfortunately. Fish and Chips - fish was overcooked. Bangers and mash - once again sausages overcooked. So overall Lovely pub and service, but food needs improvement at the price charged.

James Phillips & team provided the perfect Wedding venue for my Son & Daughter in Laws Wedding. Decoration was perfect, food amazing and the Courtyard room beautiful. Full English breakfast in the morning was delicious. You've got to try it.

Had a one night stay here and it was fabulous. Such good value for money. Bedroom was very clean and adequate. Whilst there was a slightly limited menu for evening meal the food was good, rib eye steak was cooked to perfection. The breakfast was superb, great choice. Would definitely stay here again if passing through.
