Meldrum House

Our first visit to Meldrum House and we were not disappointed! The staff are friendly; efficient and very helpful - nothing is too much trouble. The staff are a great asset to the hotel! Breakfast was delicious and well presented and the ambience meant that we had a very relaxing start to the day. We also enjoyed a delicious evening meal! Our bedroom was very well appointed with good facilities and cleaned to a high standard. The setting is beautiful and you can enjoy some lovely walks.

Beautiful, large rooms and location. Not into golf but I am sure golfers would love it. Some service issues - meeting room - no decaff or milk alternatives available, when decaff coffee brought it was filter and nothing to our it in. At breakfast both my side plate and cup were dirty, changed promptly when pointed out. Also requested bacon and poached egg - literally one rasher and the smallest egg i've Meal previous evening was excellent

We recently had a "Dine under the stars" experience in one of the Domes at Meldrum House. It was a cold, blustery day (snow!) and we were sure that it was going to be too cold, but we needed have worried - the Dome was lovely and cosy. The food was absolutely first class, and my gluten free requests were carefully catered for. The cocktails were delicious, and generous in size! The staff were very attentive and looked after us wonderfully. We'll definitely be back.

Arrived at meldrum house hotel with big expectations considering the price of the room we were very much mistaken. First room was dirty stains over the chairs an unhealthy amount of dust on the headboard of the bed. The room was ridiculously hot, no way off turning off the heating. 2 out of 4 windows opened an inch or 2 and made no difference. Got moved to another room in the new part of the hotel and room was brilliant apart from the shower, after a 5 minute shower i came out to find that the water had managed to find its way from the bathroom into the bedroom and soaked the carpet very poor design.

I liked my stay here very much. A business trip, so I only had two nights. I was in an estate room, which had modern styling done very well and views across some of their golf course. My room was in a very substantial modern extension to the ancient original building. I like this combination of modern convenience with a building that has so much history.

I only had the chance to try two breakfasts and one evening meal. All were very good and as you might expect. There were a couple of small things that I thought would have made my stay better but may not bother others. I would have liked a way to play my own choice of music in my room, so a Bluetooth speaker with Spotify Connect would have completed the room experience for me, then I could have created the mood I wanted.

The breakfast was fine, but I would have liked more choice in the buffet. I like a little fresh fruit to counterbalance the fried things, but there was little choice of it for a hotel at this level. These are not important problems, but I mention them in case the hotel looks at reviews for ways to make an already great hotel better. If I get to stay again, I would like more time to explore the history of the place. An audio guide I can play from my phone explaining it would be excellent.

Went for dinner. Extremely disappointing. Sirloin was 70% gristly fat. Broccoli/Cauliflower cheese was almost uncooked. Brocoli was hard. Roast potatoes were burnt. Yorkshire puddings looked like Aunt Bessies. All for just 92. Never again.

Excellent service! We had a valentines afternoon tea in our own little dome. Very attentive staff who also took time to chat when delivering drinks / food. Very polite when entering and leaving the dome too. Thoroughly recommended!

Not impressed with high tea. Sat on sofa with coffee table not set up like high tea. If wanted sit on sofa with coffee table would of sat at home. No refund offered. Sandwiches were bit stale, scones were fresh and cakes were lovely. Lass serving was more interested in the other table must of knew couple. Wouldn't recommend it

Beautiful place, great value, staff all very good. Could do with information in the room about how to control the heating and my wife would like better lighting at the dressing table please. But otherwise thank you very much and the fluffiest French toast ever!

We had the most lovely Silver Wedding Anniversary yesterday, dining in the dome, overnight stay, dome for breakfast. Absolutely perfect, staff were amazing as was the food, definitely see you very soon. Merry Christmas to you all
