Family owned and managed, The Buchan Hotel and Restaurant in Ellon offers the best in traditional Scottish hospitality. There are twenty five beautifully appointed bedrooms, each with en suite facilities, free Wi-Fi, tea making facilities and television. All rooms are non-smoking and many of them have views of the river Ythan and the surrounding countryside. For our dinner and bar meals, our chefs choose the finest quality local produce to create menus with a distinct Scottish character and flavour. The Buchan Hotel can also comfortably accommodate functions and conferences for up to 80 people.
The Buchan Hotel restaurant has a bright and airy atmosphere in which you can enjoy a varied selection of menu featuring a combination of continental dishes and traditional Scottish fayre. Our menu offers something to suit everyone, including a selection of vegetarian dishes, lighter and healthier options and a selection of daily specials.
Ellon is at the centre of a rich agricultural area and enjoys the benefits oil and gas have brought to the North East. To its own rich history is added that of the surrounding countryside. This is castle country, dotted with countless National Trust and Historic Scotland properties. The town is close to magnificent stretches of beach and dunes and the perfect base from which to visit traditional villages along the coast. And the many estuaries, inland lochs, and cliff-nesting sites nearby make it a bird watchers' paradise.
Located in Ellon, the Buchan Hotel is just a fifteen-minute drive from Aberdeen; Ellon has an excellent bus service operating up to twice an hour to and from the city, starting early morning running until late at night. We're ideally placed for business travellers to the area, fishing trips on the River Ythan, golfers playing Trump International Links, Cruden Bay or many of the other wonderful courses in the area.

The staff were nice enough but took a long time to ask us for a drink we were sitting with menu in front of us for ages we finally got asked what we wanted to drink then took a while after that to give us drinks. Not good Dinner was OK quite a large amount for the money but for the lack of waiting and waiting for drinks etc not sure if I would hurry back One more thing please put decorations on tables etc the tables were bare.
Never seen that before Need big massive pots with plants in the restaurant to give it that extra elegance modern upto date feel get a designer in to advise too bare and plain
