Pleasant welcome by staff at the door. Disinterested Manager at the bar with evidently little knowledge of / interest in his brands or customer tastes; the antithesis of his friendly colleagues. Poured the incorrect drinks, refused to acknowledge he'd done so until a colleague corrected him. I'd summarise his demeanour as at best sterile but more accurately rude, to the extent that my friend wanted to leave as soon as our drinks arrived. If The Watchman wants to be welcoming to locals and tourists alike, they need to get the basics right. In no rush to return.

An excellent hotel, pub and restaurant. We arrived late as a last minute booking. The restaurant were able to provide us with a lovely fish and chips. The room was very clean and very tastefully decorated. Ensuite was really nice with a lovely powerful shower. The best part of our stay were the staff, they really could not do enough for us. Every request was met and forfilled with a smile.
The bar had a good selection of spirits and an excellent pint of watchman beer brewed but local Belhaven. The owners and staff should be highly commended. A great place to stay for a nice long weekend.

Met up with family for coffee and glass of wine. The refurbishment of the hotel is bright and modern but, for me, it just seems a little clinical and unfinished. The dining room was fairly spacious and although on this occasion I did not eat I will go back to sample the food. We did have scones which were freshly baked and delicious. The wine and coffee were reasonably priced. The young people serving were attentive and extremely pleasant. All said an asset to the village and I would recommend.

Came here for 2 nights on a golfing trip. The place has recently been refurbished and was spotlessly clean. Staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. The bar area is good with west facing windows so great for watching the sunset over Gullane golf course. The food was excellent and wine list extensive. There is also a drying room for wet kit. All in all this is an excellent hotel at a reasonable price.
