Lochboisdale is situated on a deeply indented sea loch of the same name on the south east of South Uist. It is a small port with car ferry connections to the mainland and Barra. The hotel was commissioned by Lady Gordon Cathcart the estate owner in 1880 as a fishing hotel and it is still full of charm and tradition.
We have a sunlounge overlooking the harbour, the bay and hills. We have a bar supper menu and an A La Carte menu offering the best of local produce, seafood and game. Lobster is available on request and you can even pick your own off the boats in the bay.
No matter what adventures the Island gives to you what better way to end a day than with a good drink in our traditional Creel Bar. We stock a wide range of Beers, Island Gins and Spirits perfect to meet the desire of any guest.
If you are looking for a "get away from it all" experience, then the islands that make up Uist are the place you want to be. With miles and miles of empty beaches to the west, quiet roads and an eastern wilderness of hills and moorland, combined with a lively warm community, the feeling of space from the wide open skies and being welcomed by friendly islanders will relax, rejuvenate and feed your soul.

A faded elegance to parts of this hotel but boy does the food make up for it! A average looking menu, but the chef knows his shizzle and scallops, neeps and tatties, salmon and rib eye were really excellent.full marks! Our room is cosy, and great view( 7) and the bar is just where you want to be on a rainy cold evening. A great pit stop.

We came here to eat as we were staying nearby. Clearly something has happened to this hotel in the last nine months since the last review. It's kicked about, care worn, badly lacking in care and attention and in great need of a lick of paint. The lounge was dark and dingy. The floor in the dining room was dirty and sticky. The staff were unhelpful and gave the impression that they didn't really like working there. The food was boring, mundane and nothing like the menus that you see online. Don't bother going there.

Great service, food and a lovely place to watch the sun go down and the ferry arrive. Definitely would go again.

Clean rooms with good service and traditional decorum. The feeling is definitely as if you're visiting an older hotel with some history to it. The restaurant is good if you pick your dish right. The grilled steak was fairly tough and definitely not worth getting but the soups and haddock were fantastic!

Didn't stay, but spent a fair bit of time and ate dinner here with friends and family as part of a 3 day wedding celebration. Can be a really great atmosphere in the bar.!

Ruairidh Gray, a very hard working young guy, bar person and waiter. Love this establishment. Always my first port of call when I visit the Outer Hebrides

Just watched England Denmark game in the hotel. And to be honest as a England supporter i was expecting to have to be quiet and reserved in my support. How wrong was I. Brilliant evening bar staff were wearing england shirts the works, Had a great night. Well done guys. loved it.

My room reviews are based on my 150+ nights spent in Hotels and Pubs with rooms over the last 5 years. We stayed here one night in June 2021, Calum and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The bar and restaurant were nicely decorated and very clean. The room was fairly basic and as others have said, in need of re-decoration, but spotlessly clean.

Our evening meal was "satisfactory" but made more enjoyable by the views. The wine list was very limited, and with hindsight I would have brought my own and negotiated corkage. The cooked breakfast was very good, 5 stars for that! In my opinion, this is a "Pub with Rooms" which I found to be reasonably priced. There are cheaper over-night accommodation options, but I was happy to pay for the large room, and lovely views.

Brilliant atmosphere. Brilliant staff. Fantastic welcome. My friend and I were there to celebrate my birthday on 25th June. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My birthday was extra special enjoying a very large margarita in the bar. This was special because the barman had to Google the recipe. Loved it. would definitely be going back there again.

The staff / owners fantastic. The meal we had was excellent (rib eye steak, great thin crispy onion rings), breakfast very tasty, loved the black pudding. Very welcoming, recommend and would stay again. Very handy as right next to Lochboisdale Ferry Terminal, so perfect if you land later in the evening and wish to have a stopover (but longer would be good too)! Anne & Chris, Pitlochry

Really nice landlord but the place is a little in need of some TLC. Beer was good, food was good, although not the full menu that we were expecting but that was fine. Very friendly.
