After a day experiencing the wonders of Hoy, it was nice to spend the night at the very welcoming Stromabank Hotel in a clean and modern room. The (new) owners did everything possible to make our stay a pleasant and enjoyable one. Excellent breakfast with amazing views! Well worth supporting the owners who are starting out on this venture.

Takes a booking, including a 240 deposit, then cancels it the next day via email and then doesn't answer the phone. It may be a lovely place, the food might be nice, but the customer service is dreadful and unbecoming of the Orkneys. Thanks for your advice that alternative accommodation is available - you can be certain that you won't be getting any of my money when we do visit Hoy.

We had a fantastic stay at the Stromabank Hotel, Chris and Jade were very welcoming and friendly, allowing us to check in slightly earlier as it was a very wet day. The room was nice and clean with everything you would need, and the WIFI was fine for checking emails/social media. It was lovely to have a view from our bedroom window across to Switha and the Pentland Firth.

We had a lovely evening meal, the portion sizes were very generous and the food was delicious. Our breakfasts the next morning were also very good. I'd highly recommend and we will definitely return for another visit soon.

Lovely place, but was declined food because it was "too busy" and we hadn't booked - despite there only being five people in.

From the arrival, the landlady welcome us really warmly. Rose took us around and up to the bedroom. We then went to the bar and stayed few hours which allowed us to meet some of the locals. Again a very warm welcome. We had dinner and the food was well cooked and really nice. Really enjoyed our stay and we will be returning. Thanks once again for everything. Sophie & Michael

Really nice welcome, this was a last minute booking. On business and was stuck for somewhere to stay. Small but clean rooms with good bathroom. Food excellent, thry the beer battered haddock.

Bar man was rude. Seemed a chore to reply when we asked what what Orkney beers were stocked. Couldn't do food after we got menus to the table because they were too busy. (Three tables were filled) had to go and cook a pizza. I won't return. I used to go every year, .

This is a lovely place. This time of the year, most of us who enjoy the food here, are the people who live on Hoy.we know that we have to share the beautiful diningroom with tourists again soon. It's great that the cooks have a passion for cooking.i would recommend this hotel/restaurant to anybody.

Really friendly small hotel. A place to feel welcomed into the community. Huge portions of home cooked food in the evenings and lovely breakfasts. The owners are delighted to share their knowledge and love of the island. Highly recommend the place.
