The Headland is a one-of-a-kind. It's more than a hotel in a wild, dramatic location. It has grand traditions and age old charm, but it also embraces the modern with a stunning Aqua Club and five-bubble-rated spa facilities. It's all part of the same thing. Our aim has always been to create an atmosphere of relaxed luxury with excellent, approachable but unobtrusive service. We believe that you should arrive feeling welcomed, whoever you are. And you should leave rejuvenated, wherever you're going back to.

The Headland has been recognised as one of Cornwall's most iconic hotels. It stands commanding on the cliffs overlooking Newquay's famous Fistral Beach. Architecturally it is bold, original, unapologetic and majestic. Inside, it oozes opulence and old world charm, with perhaps a touch of decadence here and there.
The Headland's coastal cottages offer all the amenities you'd expect from a five-star hotel, with a cherry on top: your own space. Enjoy unlimited use of our five-bubble Spa, The Headland gym and the six-pool Aqua Club when you stay in one of our cottages. We would like you to feel at home during your stay so please contact us if you have any accessibility needs.
Nestled beside The AquaClub, these three cottages give you self-catering with extra wellbeing luxury. With ensuite four poster master bedroom, and second twin bedroom also ensuite, there is oodles of space for everyone. Squashy sofa, family dining table, and outdoor decking and enclosed grassy area complete with your own hot tub for four; the perfect spot for relaxation.
The Headland is famous for its views. Located on Newquay's Towan peninsula that juts out into the Atlantic high above the fine sands of Fistral, it offers a grandstand view of the beaches, the cliffs and the rolling breakers. Front row for this spectacle are our sea view cottages, built close (but not too close) to the cliff edge.

Thoroughly enjoyed staying at The Headland for a few nights. There's no getting away from the fact that it's expensive. Totally worth it though. You're paying for the view, the facilities & attention to detail. Room itself was good enough, not amazing. Very clean, perfectly comfortable. The views out of almost every window are stunning. The building is also lovely.
The staff are attentive without being pushy and we were well looked after. Lots of wonderful places to sit with a drink in the evening & breakfast was excellent every morning looking out at the sea. Special mention to their new(-ish) 'aqua club' with indoor and outdoor heated pools. Closest I've ever experienced in the UK to being abroad by the pool. Really impressive place.

Extraordinary experience from the moment you drive in! The welcome at the drive from the doorman to the moment you leave this is an unforgettable visit. We visited for the day with a baby and pram. The staff could not have been more accommodating, the food was exquisite with exemplary service. The views are stunning and the hotel has been kept to the highest of standards, and to a likeness of its original form which we loved.
The staff were happy to share history and we loved the fact so many staff have worked their for years. It's a great place. We can't wait to go back! We highly recommend having a cream tea!

Just wanted to leave a review to say what an amazing day spa day me and a group of friends had the other day! All the staff are incredibly friendly. The overall atmosphere of the place was just wonderfull. The spa facilities were 10/10! Everything was spotlessly clean, couldn't fault a single thing. The spa therapist Summer, who did my treatments, was lovely and very talented at her job!
I had the couture package and Left feeling very relaxed and papered! Thank you again headland hotel for a wonderful experience! Defiantly be back for another spa day sometime in the future!

Came here for food today and views are gorgeous. Food was well cooked. Toilets very posh & got guided tours around the Spa & Pool areas. The food was amazing but we booked in the terrace after the website saying dogs welcome and sat down and we got told to move as we had our dog. The website needs updating for this matter. Staff were kind & courteous to our family. Would definitely recommend.

We booked in for a couples massage. I had a regular treatment and booked my wife a pregnancy massage. Our therapists were Amelia and Summer and they were absolutely fantastic! We both felt that each therapist had understood our needs and were caring and attentive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this spa to my friends and family. All the staff we had met on the day were lovely and next time we visit Newquay we will stay at the Headland for sure.

The doorman upon entry was fabulous! Staff in the The Terrace restaurant were very nice but not enough of them although it certainly wasn't full at 2pm. Ended up having to cancel one of the 2 food orders that just never arrived. The cream tea was fine though and good value for a tenner. Will try another time and see if it's improved given current covid circumstances.

Really absolutely fabulous. We stayed for 3 nights over Christmas and it was the best ever. The actual hotel and its surroundings (right on Fistral Beach) are amazing. The spas/ gym are unreal and add to the complete luxury of the hotel. The rooms are really well appointed and comfortable. The food was exquisite, plentiful and varied. The Christmas menus were beautifully planned with Christmas Eve particularly memorable as a different wine was served with each of the 7 courses, chosen by the sommelier to compliment that dish.
The very best thing about this hotel are the staff, they were attentive, polite, extremely helpful, really nothing was too much trouble for them. A really well run gem of a hotel. We are hoping to come back soon.

Amazing day at Aqua Club. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, from the super friendly guys at reception to Scott in The Deck who was just a superstar with great chat and thoughtful observant service. The facilities are amazing & I'm definitely coming back for another few hours of relaxation at Aqua Club.

Went for afternoon tea. Hotel is located in a great place with stunning views. There is free parking onside for guests and you can walk down to the beach from there. Afternoon tea was nice, good selections of cakes and sandwiches but I wish there was a bit more selection in the sandwiches and maybe some more tea options. Staff were nice. Hotel was clean and well maintained but does feel a bit dated now.

After reading the reviews my family thought we'd pop in and have a look around and have a hot drink. On walking to the hotel we were told that the hotel was at full capacity. Refused point blank at the door. Shame really as we just wanted to have a look for future booking but to be refused entry at the door was quite something. I've had a lot of nice things to say about places during our holiday but this is at the bottom of the list. A real shame.

Enjoyed a perfect weekend at this beautiful hotel, the room was elegant and very comfortable, staff were always friendly and polite, breakfast was excellent - and the views were magnificent. I was delighted to be able to bring my dog with me as well for a very reasonable extra charge. I cannot wait to return and really hope I get to stay in one of the sea facing rooms with a balcony next visit.

A fantastic hotel in an incredible location. The food is great, the aquaclub facilities brilliant and the hotel itself comfortable and welcoming. Yes, the service was a little hit and miss but what do you expect when booking a holiday in the current situation? The staff who were there were unfailingly polite and helpful and waiting a little longer for a drink is no hardship.
The room was a little stuffy at night but that's a minor issue - the bed was comfortable and the bathroom large and spotlessly clean. Really enjoyed our break and will definitely be back.

My sister-in-law found this hotel through Conde Nast or the like and wanted to go enough that we decided on Cornwall instead of Wales for our weekend in the UK with her. The hotel is old and classic, but modernized enough to be thoroughly comfortable. We got a room facing the pitch and putt out front, complete with double bed and built in bunks through a travel website for the last weekend in August.
The room was large and well-appointed with comfortable beds and crisp linens. The sink taps were separate for hot and cold, and the shower either ran borderline-burning hot or cold. There was very little air flow in the room unless the window was open. The hotel was classically decorated. I loved the "library" on the 1st floor with its book wallpaper, LEGO model of the hotel, and modern dog lounger. There's a large double stair case, with seating at each level, much needed since the elevator isn't terribly fast.
The lounge area, which we were told used to be the ballroom, had a seating area at each window to enjoy the views. There was a patio outside with a glass windbreak for the same purpose. There's a spa area downstairs, and there's a booklet full of treatments available. We didn't try to book any, but we did enjoy the pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and aromatherapy showers.
While in the sauna, another guest informed us that they were booked for 48 hours solid anyway. Just having access to the aromatherapy showers was a lovely treat after a day of hiking in the coastal air. We ate our evening meals in the lounge area, not having seating at the Terrace (the casual restaurant), not having brought proper dress for the formal dining room, and enjoying the comfy chairs and couches.
The full Terrace menu was available. The first night we quite enjoyed the mussels, rocket salad, fresh herbed mozzarella balls, the soup of the day, and the 5 Super Food salad (which changes daily, but always features 5 super foods, so you get the key nutrients in one sitting). Everything was tasty, especially that salad. The second evening, we split the vegetarian platter and the small version of the super food salad.
We were quite full the second evening from enjoying cheese and crackers (which we bought at the Sainsbury's in town) while watching the sunset from one of the brick alcoves built into the seaside hill below the hotel. There about 2 dozen alcoves of brick or stone built along the side facing the beach or the coast, though only a couple had chairs.
I would think they would've been quite crowded at a different point in the season, since they afforded such lovely views and provided just enough a windbreak. They're incredibly dog friendly and kid friendly. There were dogs and kids running around everywhere the whole weekend. Many folks brought their dogs and kids into the lounge area while they dined. Obviously, you go for the views, but the hotel was a lovely enough experience on its own to make it worth the trip.

Our family had a birthday celebration whilst on holiday in Newquay so we decided to push the boat out and go for fine dining at the Headland. We were not disappointed in the quality of food, the service at the table was impeccable by the staff and the overall dinning experience was just perfect. 8 Happy customers and a nice sunset to boot. Points to note- its not cheap, you need to get a parking permit from the reception if only eating in the restaurant.

Sorry - the hotel was great in many ways. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, the beds were comfortable and overall the service was pretty good. The views were great. However, the shower cannot keep one temperature - complaints among three rooms that my family members were in. That is ridiculous - its 2012 and we are in a developed country. At midnight the alarm on my clock went off. Again, the room maid should be checking that during every cleaning between guests to make sure that doesn't happen.
I asked someone to come up in fix it. They sent someone up who hadn't touched one before and was new. After three or four minutes I asked him if he knew what he was doing and he said he didn't. I asked him to leave and just unplugged it. My cousin had her wedding here and it went perfectly. I would give it five stars on that.
