We are a small privately owned restaurant with rooms. We have 7 lovely bedrooms and a really good restaurant serving delicious homemade food. We try not to be pretentious, preferring instead to be informal and friendly, but we are still totally committed to quality and service. Please see our Restaurant page for more information and sample menus. I suppose the best part of all is the river and rambling gardens, home to a family of Ducks. Salmon, Trout and Perch are abundant in the river and you are more than welcome to fish. We have a visiting Heron most mornings and if you are lucky you might even spot a Kingfisher

I took my mother to the old mill for mother's day lunch. The staff were excellent and provided good service. We had Sophie and she looked after us really well. The food was great quality and a good amount. It was so good we've already booked to go again. The location is beautiful and this is a lovely place to sit on a warm day. I'd highly recommend this for Sunday lunch.

ABSOLUTE STUNNING. We went as a family of 4 and will definitely go back just us 2. It was truly amazing. The room had a bunk bed which had its only mini room attached to ours. Bathroom and dressing room we're amazing. Lovely decor comfy beds smart TV etc. Great. Restaurant was brilliant too and the staff were just amazing with the children. The surroundings outside were truly beautiful. River, flowers, seating areas beautifully lit was truly lovely. Great location free parking. Would highly recommend. We will be back!

Google Really beautiful setting but since the revamp it just doesn't feel as special. Perhaps it is just me. We were first put in a room at the front of the Hotel; but the view of the gardens & water is at the back. In fairness, we were moved to a much better room, but still no view. The food was ok but just felt average. Potatoes and parsnips could have been crispier, beef was medium to well done, Yorkshire excellent. Desserts were what you might find anywhere, sticky toffee pudding etc.
The vanilla ice cream was substituted out, which oddly is a complaint on reviews going back some time. Price point was ok I thought. Positives were service; very friendly all round and a surprisingly good wine list. My guests (5) all enjoyed themselves and with a better table and a different expectation I would probably go back. This is an edited review as I think I upset the manager a bit too much on my first attempt!

Fabulous setting, friendly staff. Sadly the food let it down, 2 tasteless fish pies, the cornfed chicken was served with Colcannon mash. What was served, a pile of tasteless, lumpy potatoes with absolutely no shredded cabbage (I also add chopped bacon, which is optional) and no cream. The potatoes tasted as if they had been left to sit in a bowl and to go cold then heated up.
The chicken itself was good. Desert was awful, a dry, small piece of sticky toffee pudding, which should have been served with vanilla ice cream. First mouthful, the overpowering flavour of coconut (I like coconut, not on sticky toffee). Called server who advised they had run out of a basic staple "vanilla ice cream" so instead of being given the option of another desert, it seems the kitchen took it upon themselves to serve coconut in the hope it wasn't noticed. There were too many diners and not enough staff. We did not complain, it was not worth the effort, we would just would not return.

I only live 25 minutes from The Old Mill, but never knew it was there! I Pulled in while traveling with the family on a day out, and I'm glad I did, as I have discovered a delightful place! Firstly the location was gorgeous even on a dull February afternoon. I can only imagine how it looks in the summer, it must be glorious. There was a huge amount of seating inside and out.
It was clean and had a lovely atmosphere, with a fire roaring in every room. I especially liked it because it had an historic feel and not that horrible "modern" white clinical feel. We had children's and adult meals which were tasty, well cooked and nicely presented. There was staff available as we walked in. They were polite, fun and very helpful.
The facilities were nice. In fact the loos were as if they were brand new, really spotless to be honest. This was topped off with a flowing river, ducks and ducklings, and even bride of prey gliding past. If you enjoy this kind of place, traditional and in a lovely setting, th n check it out! I can wait to go back in the spring! Thank you to everyone for looking after us and having fun with the kids too!

We went on Sat 8th Jan for dinner. The management apologised as we sat down that they were reduced in chefs due to sickness ( Covid pressures) however we would never have known - the food was excellent and timely, service was good and the waiting staff charming and attentive. I had ribeye steak which was the best I've ever had ( not fatty ) and perfectly cooked, and the starters we shared were lovely.
We didn't succumb to dessert. For me my happiness was sealed when I saw Chateau Leoube rose wine on the wine list. I love it and buy it whenever I'm at Daylesford in the Cotswolds. I've never seen it on a restaurant menu before. The setting is lovely both outside and in. Nothing not to like. Will definitely return even just for a glass of wine! - my new favourite in the area.

The food at this restaurant was lovely and the variety was great. Unfortunately it was clearly under staffed which made for a chaotic atmosphere with long delays. The drinks menu was great and the staff were obviously working very hard to try to keep everyone happy but it was impossible with the number of customers and such a small staff team. We hope to go back again in the summer and see if this is any better. Thank you to the staff for all their great efforts

Nice countryside pub near Lymington. Lovely gardens with a stream running through and a lot of outdoor seating much of which is under cover. As we were there for the evening, we opted to eat in the conservatory which also overlooks the gardens and stream. Not necessarily a huge menu but there is enough to choose from but what they offer is very nicely cooked. Attentive and friendly staff with good service as well.

Food was fine but expensive for what it was. Basic burger and chips was 15 and Roasts ranged from 15-22 and again were ok but nothing special. Service was very slow. 2 drinks never came and ice creams on desserts came out melted. The way service was managed seemed to cause issues - there was plenty of staff (at least 7-9 waiting staff) but they seemed to be entirely responsible for certain sections of the restaurant without any flexibility of other staff helping with drinks orders etc. Poor management essentially. Won't be returning.

We had lunch at the Old Mill and sat outside by the river in the sun. The setting is stunning and has a large garden with plenty of choice of seating. Inside is unique and interesting and I look forward to going back to sit inside next time. Menu has a great choice of drinks and food. We had three courses each, all of which were faultless and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Couldn't have asked for more and will most definitely be back. Very highly recommend!

We had Sunday lunch at The Old Mill yesterday, the food was fabulous and the service exceptional. The whole experience was made perfect by our waitress Martha and the manager Richard who were clearly under pressure due to being so busy but were delightful to deal with, thank you guys and see you again soon as now we have found you we will be back.

We booked The Old Mill recently for breakfast and I was a little apprehensive as there is no breakfast menu online and there were quite a lot of negative reviews regarding the service. I am very glad that we took the chance as the breakfast menu was lovely, the food was delicious and the service was wonderful. We were a party of 4 adults and one child and we all enjoyed it very much and will definitely be returning.

I don't normally leave reviews but I just had to! The staff were just amazing-they overheard our daughter ask us for some crayons and brought them over to her without us having to ask then took the time to ask her what she was colouring in. Our drinks were never empty as the staff promptly came over and took drinks orders when we were empty. Again they were fantastic with the kids and went through the different flavours of drink they had and asked them what they would like (normally when we eat out the staff look to the parents to order which is fine but I really think the fact they asked the kids was above and beyond).
The food was fabulous and the view from the conservatory was brilliant. Lots for the kids to see and a great colouring in menu too which gave the adults time to chat. Overall it was the perfect dinner to end the weekend and I'd 100% go back!
