The Glen is more than just a family run hotel, built in 1856 our hotel used to be a vicarage to the church at the bottom of our gardens. Just a stones throw away from River Ettrick, it is ideal for those who are looking for a relaxed break surrounding themselves in beautiful scenery. Fishing and golf is very popular. As is walking The Borders Abbeys Way that comes through Selkirk. We have dedicated family rooms, but if you require an additional fold out bed please let us know so we can accommodate your whole family comfortably.
Services
We serve a "Dish of the Day" evening meal and desserts at 6:30pm every evening, Monday to Thursday, in our bar area for residents only. Breakfast is ordered using the form in your bedroom, please leave this on the reception desk before 9pm, so we know when to expect you for breakfast. Check-in: 4:00 PM till 9:00 PM Early check-in is available from 12 noon at a charge of 25. Please advise us at time of booking if early check in is required.

What a little gem this hotel is. I had to come to Selkirk for work and instead of the usual Premier Inn (generic and bland). I ended up in this lovely old listed building. The owners are lovely and cannot do enough for you to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. I've had an absolutely fantastic stay. And the food, OMG, the only negative point I could offer is the food is to good and I'm not looking forward to having to prepare my own meals again lol. The food is absolutely out of this ! All in all a 5,e xperience staying with a lovely family. I'm looking forward to my next work trip back.

We stayed here for one night in September 2018 and had a good experience, so decided to stay again several months later in May 2019. Nothing much had changed, same clean rooms etc, the only downside the breakfast was nowhere near as good as the first time. Very substandard compared to the first visit.

I stayed here for a few days whilst working in the area. They were welcoming and friendly. The room was fine with all the usual facilities. Although there is no choice for evening meal (hence my 4 * rating) the quality of the food was very good. They also made me a sandwich to take with me for lunch. They do a very good cooked breakfast!

This is a beautiful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. It has a feeling that you part of the family. Rooms are spacious well kept and very clean. Breakfast was excellent and that staff were attentive asking if we needed anything to let them know. Would definitely recommend and would have no hesitation in staying again

Beautiful original features and incredibly comfortable room, mattress and pillows. Powerful large shower and room tasteful and clean. Garden was well maintained with an array of mature shrubs, Acer's and trees. Our chocolate lab loved it and the surrounding country walks. Breakfast was exceptional, I'd recommend the full Scottish breakfast anyday. Vegetarian version available. Staff were discreet and friendly and the hotel had a great family, personal vibe about it. Would definitely return and couldn't recommend highly enough!

My Mother recently enjoyed a 3 night stay. She thought the room was clean, nicely decorated with a good sized shower. The bed was comfortable and she slept well. Breakfast was good with an appropriate variety for all tastes. Mum said that the owners were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the Borders. She would definitely stay here again.
