Family run, Victorian country hotel, set amidst the splendour of the North Wessex Down, close by the lovely Bourne Valley, in an area designated on of outstanding natural beauty. Esseborne is a small and friendly hotel with a perfect location for a short break or a big celebration. Our Garden Restaurant offers 2 Rosette A la Carte dinner menu and 5 or 7 courses tasting menus while the Bistro Dining Room offers lunches, afternoon teas and a dinner menu with classic English dishes.All of our bedrooms overlook the gardens and are decorated individually to provide a luxury environment with a unique feel and atmosphere.
Services
All dishes are freshly prepared by our Head Chef Mateusz and his team with herbs from our own Herb Garden and extensive use of local Hampshire and Berkshire produce. Our competitively priced weekday lunch menu includes a choice of dishes with a glass of wine, while on Sundays we have a traditional roast beef or a selection of other dishes for you to enjoy.

Accessibility: We have one bedroom that could be considered as suitable for disabled guests but it does not have an accessible bath or shower. This room in the Courtyard is accessible via a short open air gravel path.
Weddings at Esseborne are special and unique. From the first visit the brides & grooms are looked after by Mark, our wedding coordinator who makes the wedding preparations easy yet focused on details. The special day starts with a ceremony in the elegant Garden Restaurant (or a church), photographs in the mature gardens, delicious wedding breakfast and an evening dance party with a barbecue or a finger buffet.

Having had a wonderful weekend break some years ago with my wife, we returned today to have lunch with friends. I am please to say nothing had changed and the food, service and general ambience of the hotel was unsurpassed. The interior decor had been refreshing updated without losing that cosy feeling we had enjoyed on our previous stay. We will not leave it so long before we return for a weekend stay. Thank for a very enjoyable day.

Had afternoon tea yesterday and it was lovely. The staff were extremely friendly and very fast. The food was delicious and there was a really good selection. We were given boxes to take the leftovers with us so nothing went to waste. The setting was beautiful and everything was really well presented. I had to make use of the disabled loo while there and it was nice and big and very clean. Many thanks for the lovely service.

Just had a lovely Sunday lunch with friends. Food was good, with the exception of the roast potatoes, which I think were frozen. I would expect homemade roast potatoes at Esseborne. This is what makes a good roast stand out from a basic pub roast. Some of the vegetables were quite hard but all in all a nice meal.

A most delightful tasting menu indeed! I came here for dinner a few weeks ago, excellent service and food in what seems to be a lovely Manor House. The only criticism I can pick is that there are lots of potholes on your way to the car park which could really do with being filled in. Otherwise all round excellent

Stayed here for 1 night, including dinner and breakfast. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The room was nice and warm but could do with a little freshening up as it's quite dated. I liked the hospitality tray with biscuits and water- very nice touch. Dinner was good but the starter I was served- butternut squash with ricotta was tiny and very plain for what you pay for.
The chilli tofu main was delicious- definitely recommend. Dessert was also nice but the pannacotta portion was tiny too. The other thing I noticed was that on arrival we were given a printed wine list, at the bar the same wine list which listed the same wines but different prices- at checkout out I paid a 3rd price for the same wine. They should definitely check for consistency of prices across the menus.

This is a review of dinner - I did not stay the night. Esseborne has always been a safe bet for me when it comes to eating out. My family have been coming here for decades. But last Friday was a truly memorable dining experience. The ambience - as always - is quiet and restrained. You wouldn't be coming here if you wanted a busy vibe. The food was impeccable.
Choose from a small well thought out menu (there's a vegetarian menu too). Our dishes were well presented, perfectly cooked and so tasty. Service was excellent. And the prices were very reasonable - especially when you consider the quality of the food. I will be coming back in a few weeks and will update this review as necessary.

A slightly quirky family run hotel; the staff are very attentive but not pushy. We were in the Arundel room which could do with a bit of a touch up but was nice. The mattress was too firm for my liking but that is a matter of taste. The hospitality tray is stocked with home made biscuits and water from their own well. The food was very good and our Travel zoo voucher included a welcome cream tea on arrival.
You can also book a massage or facial onsite though we only discovered this as we were checking out . It's a bit out in the middle of nowhere but the surrounding countryside is beautiful.

I had a special birthday lunch on Sunday September 19th for 25 of us, held in the privacy of the Tapestry room. The staff were welcoming and attentive and the Buffet Lunch was delicious with a wide choice of food. We have had many favourable comments from our guests. Our grandaughters wedding was an absolute delight from the moment we arrived. Wonderful attentive staff, who went over and above to make sure everything was perfect. Beautiful spotlessly clean, comfortable rooms. The food was excellent and plentiful. I can't recommend highly enough. A fabulous place for a special occasion, or for a peaceful break. Will certainly be back.x Thank you to everyone concerned for making some fabulous memories for our family.
