I couldn't recommend this hotel more highly, with or without a dog! We were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in (as was our dog and son!), the facilities are excellent, we loved playing pool and i enjoyed some gorgeous treatments in the spa, the food is outstanding and the staff are so helpful and happy to help in anyway to make your stay the best it can be. A perfect break for us all - thank you.

I was given a gift voucher to use with the hotel/spa/restaurant. Lockdown hit and so I couldn't use it and it went out of validity. When we came out of lockdown I contacted them and they extended the validity and so we booked in the restaurant. A couple of weeks before we were due to dine lockdown 2 hit and they had to cancel our reservation. With the cumulative lockdowns a number of events we were meant to attend were rescheduled and there were some situations which prevented us from immediately rebooking out of lockdown being lifted.
When I contacted them to get our voucher extended again they refused. The excuse provided was that they had discussed it with the manager but their system wouldn't allow it. We have been through two years of unprecedented and unpredictable events, you would think the human would be able to think outside the box and overcome the issues of the "system". This is their loss as we won't dine or stay with them or use their facilities. They took our money and provided nothing.

We visited for dinner as guests of the hotel. Advanced booking was essential. The restaurant has a refined atmosphere and it was very quiet when we arrived, although it got busier later on. There was more on the menu vs what was published on their website, and they also had a fairly extensive kids menu (6 choices of main course) priced at 10 including a dessert.
We tried the goats cheese and octopus carpaccio starters, followed by the monkfish and lamb main courses, and finally the chocolate cremeux and sticky toffee desserts. Generally, the food was quite good, in particular the desserts were excellent. The lamb was a bit tough, but still decent. The notable exception to all of this was the octopus carpaccio.
As this dish was delivered it immediately was giving off a strong fishy smell, and upon tasting it, it was obvious that the octopus had gone off. I was surprised that the kitchen did not pick up on this. Further, after informing our waiter and sending it back, there was no follow up of any sort, although upon settling the bill, the octopus had not been charged for.
Service was on the slow side throughout the meal, and it was often difficult to get the attention of waiting staff. A few staff also came across as being inexperienced, new to the restaurant clearly, but perhaps even new to the industry. Our bill came to 145 of which 35 was spent on drinks. On the whole, it was a bit of a mixed experience, and I'm not sure if I would return.

October 20.wedding anniversary.3 night break.beautiful hotel in every way, but three things that we felt needed mentioning. We stayed in Kingcup on first floor in main hotel.really too small for a couple, and we were cold.the radiators were hardly ever on. The food, on the whole was marvellous, with brilliant service, but the menu was repeated every night with one or two exceptions.the steak was superb, but the boeuf bourginon on the second evening had two very small pieces of steak in each helping! Nonetheless, we had a lovely stay.thankyou.

We recently stayed at The Eastbury with my family, (we have young children 1 & 4) we stayed in an interconnecting room on the ground floor, willow and verbana. It was perfect for our needs, both rooms spacious, one with a shower and one with bath and shower. Lots of room and nice little touches with a Welcome bag with lots of local info and nice sweets for the children.
We especially enjoyed the sloe gin for when the kiddies went to bed! We dined in the restaurant - wow absolutely stunning the food and ambience just perfect. I was shocked at how fabulous the kids meal looked. Zoe and Sarah served us who were excellent. Lots of attention to detail and a lovely wine list too. We enjoyed the garden games - croquet, badminton chess, and loved just sitting on the deck chairs surrounded by stunning garden - it's so pretty like a traditional English country garden.
We pushed the boat out and both had swedish massages. Another big wow. We really enjoyed our time at the Eastbury and would confidential recommend it to anyone who is tempted. It really was lovely and there was lots to do in Sherborne and surrounding areas. We could have easily stayed longer. Thank you to Gemma and the team for looking after us so well.

It was impeccable! from the point of ringing up to book to the point of leaving - I was upgraded to a beautiful en suite double room after requesting a cheap and cheerful single room. the room itself was large, comfortable elegant stylish and scrupulously clean - the hotel has thought of everything from hot water bottles to bathroom slippers to a little night cap of complimentary Sloe Gin - all the staff I spoke to were charming and friendly and my inclusive breakfast was absolutely excellent with lots of choices of fresh foods- I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this gorgeous country hotel to anyone - and will definitely be making a return visit as soon as possible!

I recently stayed at the Eastbury as part of a team corporate retreat and everything was perfect. I stayed in one of the "Garden Potting Sheds", the room was immaculately presented and you could tell that a great deal of time had been spent on the design, my personal favourite touches were the mirror which doubled as a TV and the heated mirror in the bathroom. The staff were welcoming and informative, I couldn't have asked for a better stay.

Resonating Friendliness Today, I visited an exhibition in a local hotel. I had not been to this hotel before and was so pleasantly surprised that I thought I would share it with you. The intriguing nooks and crannies, winding corridoors and variety of rooms just fascinated me. Exploring one corridoor, I passed a room of activity and discussion it was one of the offices.
The ensuing conversation with the proprietor was amazing. It is rare to meet a person who so willingly gives you their undivided attention for a while, as you seek to evaluate the potential of the hotel for future events. It was a wonderful discovery and the customer care is seen in the gardens too, with small areas landscaped here and there with a table/shade cover and seats for outside refreshment and enjoyment.
Even a notice on a tree in the garden alerting clients to the business of the bees in that partiucular area. Do check out the website and see something of the quality and thoughtfulness I encountered during my brief visit. I plan to return for sure. Global Nomad

We stayed here for a week before we could move into our house. This is a great little hotel. The rooms are very nice, and priced reasonably for how nice they are. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant, although a bit pricey for a family of 6, was never a disappointment - even making special dishes at dinner for our youngest. We stayed here with our 4 children - from 9 years old to teenage.
The hotel is less than a 5 minute walk to the shops in Sherborne and maybe a 10 minute walk to the Old Castle - the location can't be beat. As a resident of Sherborne, I still go to the Eastbury for coffee in the morning with friends. They're open early and we can get a cappuccino for 2 pounds and sit in a very comfortable lounge, which is such a nice change from the bustle of coffee shops. I can't think of one negative, or even neutral comment to make about the Eastbury. Every experience has been overwhelmingly positive.

We use this classy little hotel when visiting relatives in Yeovil, and really love it. It is small and friendly, and provides excellent attentive service. Prices are surprisingly reasonable. We visit with small children - they have some very good family rooms available, and a lovely garden around the back. The highlight for us is the restaurant. The food is contemporary franglais - excellent. Good choice of wines and professional service make it a real treat when the kids are finally tucked up in bed.
