Rude staff! Visited this pub as a family of 7 and was disgusted in the way we were spoken to. Told we weren't allowed to reserve a table as we didn't come from the hotel and they were thinking of there tips and wanted to give them to the hotel customers as they are "wealthier"! When questioned the girls shrugged and stated we looked like we had no money. awful. Not friendly at all. definitely won't be returning.

Don't go to burgh island on a Monday or Tuesday the pub doesn't have a chef so no food only crisps not what you want to find out when you are on the island. Not the day we were expecting. Also a 2 deposit on the plastic glasses if you drink outside nice little earner so remember to take your glass back!

The best fish and chips I have ever had! We went in and ordered, it was busy as lunch rush so expected but the lady behind the bar was friendly. We sat outside so were giving a disk to collect our order when it flashed ready. Our disk didn't work but the waiter came and found us promptly with our food. The fish and chips were seasoned perfectly and a nice size portion.
I would recommend this quirky pub with amazing fish and chips to anyone in the area. The fish and chips were about 14 per portion but the prices you expect to pay for an island and definitely worth every penny!

Don't recall feeling quite so 'ripped off' for a long time. Badly cooked and presented food, the price (for what was there) felt absolutely extortionate and then when I asked the manager if we had been charged correctly (over 60!?) I was met with a 'tough, take it or leave it' type attitude. It also wasn't until we left we realised we'd been charged a deposit on the plastic cups. something not made apparent at all! Won't be stopping there again.

Such a shame it was closed on a beautiful sunny day in October half-term week. Beach was very busy. We were a large party and always go there when we visit Burgh Island. They missed a trick. What was worse though, they locked their toilets so noone could get water for their dogs and its a long walk back to the other side when your grandchild needs the loo there and then. So selfish. Shan't bother to go again. They don't deserve our business

Unfortunately, on our visit (4 adults, 2 children), a bit of a disaster! Staff all at sixes and sevens about menus, availability, and accuracy of dishes. My curry wrong, wife's dish didn't turn up. That said all meals were very nice. No coffee available and bill was wrong. Same for only other table there - also a six. Premises date from 1337 and very atmospheric. Great excitement on special sea tractor on way home in the dark.

Sadly this is no longer an atmospheric 700 yr old pub. It's a mechanised tourist processing unit that treats customers like third class citizens and then overcharges by about 100%. The staff are lovely and one feels sorry for them having to deliver such a devastatingly poor product. Don't go there unless you are completely devoid of discernment or aspiration and don't mind being ripped off.

We have always loved The Pilchard, but last time we went the food was not good, service was from staff who were overbearing and we came away gutted. Well. Not anymore! We had the most beautiful meal with family last night! The service, impeccable, professional and really friendly. The food was on another level, simply stunning in taste and presentation, and the atmosphere wonderful.
The Pilchard has definitely got its sparkle back, it was magical once again and we came away with big smiles! Julia the manager brings such energy to the place, something that was lost for a while, but is right back where it should be! Awesome!
