Excellent! Hotel is well equipped. Rooms are large. Breakfast was lovely. The staff are very friendly, in particular, Fiona Murphy on the reception desk. We were in Newry for a family funeral, unforeseen circumstances arose which meant we had to cut our stay short. We spoke with Fiona and explained the situation. Fiona was very sympathetic and helped us come to an amicable agreement. Thank you Fiona, you are a credit to the Hotel.

We booked a table for our daughter's confirmation lunch. A bit crowded and noisy as all sort of celebrations were stuffed into this suite, however the service, quality of the food and overall cost was great. Highly recommend as a venue for family parties!

Had dinner here on Monday night. Food was fair, well cooked sauce was bland. Service good, setting comfortable. Value for money, over priced in my opinion l

Don't like posting publicly emailed to express this and no reply, arrived at 3 after traveling from the early hours of the morning and was told there's a slight delay of room service and the room will be ready at 315 which is fine but ended up being 415 and the room wasn't even up to a basic standard? staff maybe overwhelmed as it was quite busy but for a 4 star hotel and paying 175 pound it's not really ideal.

Lovely interior and well decorated. brilliant leisure centre and gym equipment staff very friendly for the most part with the exception of one very unmanned chief doing Cauvery who thinks making sneaking jokes and trying to be-little the customers is funny if only he's jokes was as good as his cooking.

Enjoyed The valentines offer with my husband. Everything was just perfect. when we arrived the lady at reception was aware my husband was deaf and a lip reader from his booking. So removed her mask an spoke to him slow and clearly. This was fantastic to see. Our room was lovely with a great heating system. Pool area was lovely, the young man at the pool reception was very polite. Dinner was delicious as was breakfast Thank you so much.

Had a pleasant stay here, the reception staff were very helpful. The highlight was a cheese toastie I had on check-out. It sounds funny to say, but it really was excellent, paired perfectly with coleslaw, a dressed salad and beef flavoured crinkle cut crisps.

Went to the carvery today. 2 of us. Seated straight away with wonderful carvery dinner. Brilliant food and thanks to Chef Ian who actually came down to our table to check all was OK. Good old fashioned customer service. Can't wait to get back

From we arrived until we left the staff were exceptional in every area of the hotel. Everyone is made to feel relaxed. and welcome. We stayed for two nights b&b and dinner on the second night. Food was beautiful. A big thanks to Brid ( I hope I got your name right) she was amazing. We did have one bad experience which had absolutely nothing to do with the staff.

Unfortunately the people in the next room had their t.v blasting in the early hours of the morning. The 3 of us were wakened by thenoise. My husband phoned reception and within minutes security were knocking on their door. It all finally got sorted thanks again to the security men. I would most definitely recommend this 5* Hotel. Will be back at the next chance. Thank you

Awake most of the night with the sounds of music downstairs, food was ok, nothing spectacular, best part of our stay was the pool.

I was a customer at the hotel on 17 December. Horrified. This place is an Omicrum hub! Staff were wearing masks - often below their nose or chin; NO vaccination status required for entry, or lateral flow requirement. The place was packed, and customers moving around the hotel were mostly without masks. Get real Canal Court and take more care of your staff and customers. Won't be back. Pity, as the hotel itself is lovely.

Stopped off here for breakfast on our drive down from Belfast to Dublin. What a great find. Beats any cafe or motorway services for a relaxing break. Wide choice from the continental and cooked breakfast menu. Very welcoming staff. Service was faultless and quality of food was excellent. Only minor criticism was that the baked beans weren't very warm, which appears to be very common in many cafes and restaurants. Price was also very cheap compared with UK and Eire prices. Unbelievable value. Hotel would be a great place for a short stay.

I have been a few times! The food is always delicious and the staff are very polite and welcoming. There are a few bars around as well. I have only ever come here for food, so this review is based in that only.

Haven't stayed in the Canal Court hotel part itself, never had a need to stay in Newry but the opportunities I've had to see the rooms they seem nice and clean. On the whole I've had plenty of meals here and hung around the bars, and all definitely enjoyable. I've never had an issue with the food, always served hot and timely, and the bars never have a bad vibe.

Always lively and you don't feel as if you're getting turned out by anyone going out of their way to cause trouble or make the visit feel unpleasant. The last time I was here was last night actually - grabbed a quick beer before catching a bus out of Newry town. Was lucky in that there was some brass band set up in their main lobby area belting out a few tunes and it was a pretty cool atmosphere - people spilled over from the bars, young and old just yappin' away drinking, people sat in the couches and chairs laughing and having a good time.

Our tour moved to this hotel when everything in Belfast became booked. Staff went the extra mile and the food was very good- dinner and breakfast. Hotel was very clean and the lounge areas and reception were handsome. Many places downtown close early but everything you need is here.

Traditional hotel with comfortable and spacious rooms and multiple dining and bar bite options. They serve breakfast which is included in the rate. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They also have a spa on premises and parking. The decor for the public spaces could use some refreshing but it does have a traditional charm. It's convenient if you find yourself doing business in Newry.

Not a bad hotel at all, though I never saw the bill(wife took care of it). Great for someone who doesn't want to try something more "unique" and is looking for consistency. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were very quiet. The parking was a bit rough when we first arrived but we didn't have a problem for the rest of the trip. I can imagine the parking gets really bad during the summer. Wi-Fi did not work well, as I presume they had a poor configuration and ran out of IP addresses at some point during the day.

We were able to connect the next day without issue. My wife was having her birthday and my sister wanted to do something special. She was able to have a bucket of Magners, a custom cake, and a Happy Birthday banner put on the door. This made the visit extra special! I would be happy to stay here again!

Had to work at a conference at the Canal Court Hotel, and I must say that apart from that I like the look of the place. A nice entrance to an opulent lobby with a sweeping staircase as a big feature, the hotel certainly 'looks the part'. The room the conference was being held in was a large hall which on a cold day outside, was still a pleasant temperature, no mean feat!

Lunch was a buffet styled affair with standard stroganoff or curry and rice. Over cooked chicken unfortunately did the curry no justice. A pity as the dining room / restaurant is very light and nicely laid out. Tea and coffee at break time was standard, but no accompanying biscuits? Come on guys a hotel of this standard should have this kind of thing sorted. Again this can't really count as a review of someone who stayed there, but for those conference warriors out there, I thought I'd represent!

The Canal Court in Newry is suprisingly huge! Made my way here for a class meeting and enjoyed one thing about it: The Bar. Spent several hours in a small, somewhat dingy-looking room (Mourne Suite) with two strangely-positioned skylights which forced us to keep the blinds closed. There was also a wedding going on so while we were discussing ancient Greek vases, we could hear the DJ sound check with repeated clips of "I Gotta Feeling" for about half an hour in surround-sound followed by what sounded like a childrens' 'day care' going on nextdoor (?) Very poor planning on the part of the hotel staff for even thinking of reserving this room for a day school, let alone a business meeting.

The one thing that was cool about this hotel is The Granary Bar. An unexpectedly huge space for drinks or simply lunch. We enjoyed two very tasty gigantic sandwiches - club and BLT - for only ten euro! Also, there's an espresso bar so I could take my hot beverage to go. (I was also told the bar turns in to a night club on weekends and it's supposedly very packed.) It probably is a great place for a wedding - sitting areas abound for guests - and there is a spa for the bride and her girls as well.

On a side note, apparently the massive stair case is doubled as a running race course for children. I assume this is one of the features as the hotel staff didn't put a stop to it even after I practically got knocked over by one of the little marathoners. (Now that's a law suit waiting to happen - too bad this isn't California!) Didn't book a sleeping room; but, aside from the bar, pretty sure this is -not- where I'd like to spend my day, let alone a night.

As a Newry girl born and raised, I've been to the Canal Court for formals, weddings, staff-do's, lunches etc, but I've never before stayed over, until last night. It was, hands down, one of the best hotels I've stayed in, I can't recommend this place enough! - Staff were fantastic at every stage, from check in, to check out, room service staff to breakfast staff they were all friendly, helpful and really pleasant. - Room was pretty huge, bed was massive (I was in a different postcode to the hubby!) it was clean, comfortable and they had extra bedding in the cupboard if we needed it. - AC unit was excellent, which is good when my radiator hubby can never get cool enough at night. - Shower was great, pressure was good (fussy hubby). - Room was quiet, we didn't hear a peep all night, which was surprising. - Room service was quick and hot (we only got a toastie and a pavlova like, so it wasn't a gourmet dinner, but it was tasty!) - Breakfast was tasty and plentiful, there's a cold all you can eat buffet part that would have fed you 'fo' days' and the hot part was delish! I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

We ended up getting a wee cheap deal for an overnight stay here last year. It's not far from Belfast, and we could have gone home, and we also have friends in Newry we could have stayed with, but it was quite nice to be somewhere different and do our own thing. We got our room for less than 100 for the night, and we had breakfast with that also, which I though was a very good deal considering it really is a nice hotel - although a bit of a labyrinth to get through sometimes - it's easy to get lost.

Our room was clean and pleasant, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was tasty. It's not posh or poncy, you wouldn't come here on your honeymoon but they did a good job, and made us feel welcome.

Ive been to 2 weddings here and it was ok very elegant and in the heart of the city. The food we got was ok but service was a tad slow but we didnt mind as we were having a blast. ive also pop into here with friends for a spot of lunch while out shopping and its not to bad price wise and makes a nice change from going to mcdonalds or friar tucks.
