The Bold Hotel

Friendly, smart staff all welcoming and polite. Food was lovely and presented nicely and enjoyable to eat. Well decorated and clean inside and out. Would come again when in the area. Not many places like solo travellers, especially to eat. Ate in the bar area even though the restaurant was offered. Recommended if around Southport

We've absolutely loved our stay at the bold hotel. couldn't fault a thing. we stayed in the superior room overlooking lord street. the roomwas very clean and spacious, the bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is also lovley and big. Very helpful friendly staff and receptionists. The bar area out side it a brilliant sun trap. We didn't eat but the food looked amazing. all round good atmosphere. we can not wait to return again we will be recommending to friends and family thank you xx

Breakfast was the best I've ever had in a hotel. If you stay in the hotel its 10 pp BARGAIN Would definitely recommend going. The rooms are amazing really clean and modern. There are plenty of bars around the hotel, and parking was 5.00 for 24hrs we managed to park just outside of the hotel on a side street. Will definitely return 100%.

Stayed for two nights and the room was a good size and very warm (slightly too warm). Staff were all young and very enthusiastic and that worked very well. The carvery as good as it comes (we ate there both nights it was that good). The hotel is very well located on the high street and easy access to the marina and seafront. The hotel is linked to another hotel and Irish bar across the road where you can use your room key to charge drinks and was a nice touch. Only negative was no lift but in summary we would very happily stay here again.

Did not have a room but called for two standard carverys Sunday afternoon lunchtime. The Beef was excellent as well as all the trimmings. Plenty of choice and a friendly server. The Head Chef came out of the kitchen and his uniform was impeccably clean which garnered assurity in the cleanliness of the kitchen. Overall very good. Would return.

The food was amazing. Staff really helpful. Decided to stay in May as everywhere looked great. The rooms look so nice, when I went on line. Can't wait for our stay

Lovely Staff We even got upgraded on arrival me and my son. Lovely for couples and family's room spotless can't say nothing bad about it Anne was lovely the staff just can't do enough for you. The whole experience at The Bold was excellent from start to finish the customer service from the Lovely Anne on reception before we arrived was excellent as I changed my mind about the rooma couple of times the room was clean, modern and everything it said or would be the food in the restaurant was nice with great service from Georgia. The bar had a nice atmosphere in the day, coming back after a night out in the local bars we were greeted by Joe who made the end of the night enjoyable with more drinks cocktails and laughs would definitely come back to stay at The Bold x

Went in randomly after a walk in Southport and was pleasantly surprised, although there weren't many veggie options and only one was available on that day, it was really nice! I had the Cauliflower Katsu and it was so tasty! Although I don't eat meat, the Carvery in there looked really nice and judging by other people's portions, you definitely get your money's worth!

Brilliant lunch, not cheap but great quality. Will definitely be back and would recommend.

Second stay in the Bold Hotel, both times really good experience with the place. Asked for a quiet room and without any issues we were placed in a lovely and quiet room. Very friendly and helpful staff making sure we have a nice stay. Nice and quiet room, great food served downstairs- very convenient and we will definitely come back again.

Stayed over with work and was treated very nicely by all the staff, lovely food, lovely room, good prices, would definitely recommend

This is the second time staying here and on both occasions the staff have been really nice and helpful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Only stayed the one night but would absolutely come back and stay longer. Hotel was lovely inside and rooms are spotless and cosy. Staff are lovely and very welcoming which always helps. Beds are comfy sky TV in rooms, fridge, bath and shower aswell. Highly recommend this hotel it's lovely. Never tried the restaurant but the menu was decent

Lovely staff and building. There was an issue with the temperature of the tea and vegetables which is why it's down to 3 stars. Also online menu does not correspond with actual menu which meant my friend's dish of choice was unavailable. She's a vegetarian and the limited options became much smaller. To reiterate staff fab ambience fab worth a visit

Stayed at the Bold this weekend for the scooter weekend. Excellent place too stay. Fab rooms. Great food, great staff. Top notch. Have booked for next year.

Room was so hot (even though we had the radiators off) we had to open the window and turn on the fan they provided. The refrigerator didn't keep anything cold. The WiFi didn't work the entire 5 days we were there. TV didn't work for the first two days. And, there is no elevator, so have fun getting your bags up and down two to 3 flights of stairs.

We booked 6 rooms total for family for one of the nights, and they had the same issues. We paid almost $500 for 4 people for the New Years Eve dinner/show. Terrible food to start. Then drunk people blocking the view of the Jersey Boys show as they just wanted to stand next to their chairs instead of sitting in them. I booked our tickets 3 months in advance and they stuck us at the very back table.

When my husband asked Ian the manager, to tell them to sit down, Ian said the people were "cut off" at the bar. So they went out to the lobby bar and drank there. He didn't ask them to sit down, and said "We can't stop people from having a good time". What about my good time? Nobody else in the room was dancing up on chairs and standing in front of people.

I was so upset (as it was also my birthday celebration), that we left without "hearing" the rest of the show. I will NEVER stay in this hotel ever again. Nor will any of my family or friends.

I think Bentleys restaurant deserves some good press. we had a table of four on new years eve 2012. The five course dinner was amazing! couldn't fault it in any way at all. The service was brilliant very tentative staff nothing was too much trouble for them. The presentations of the courses was lovely. compliments to the chef! we will be back again soon! thankyou for making our night a good one hats off to The Bold!

Possibly the worst pub I have had the unfortune to stumble in to. Food dire service abysmal. Toilets filthy beer watered down. Won't be returning

Food not as good as it used to be (cold carvery) not as tasty as it was last year when we used to go twice a week, maybe different chef but we won, t go again, we found nicer, hotter cheaper food round the corner (seabank rd) 'the windmill' basic pub but fantastic food much better than the bold these days.

We have driven 20 miles once a month for 12 years to have lunch in the bold, i always get the large fish and chips no matter what, to-day 11/02/2010 i had the usual and my wife a steak and onion sandwich, the fish was not fresh, greasy and the batter burnt plus the chips were cold, the sandwich my wife had was no better it was tasteless and her chips were not even warm in fact they were freezing, i asked two of the staff who know me if the regular chef was off work and was told yes, when the what i assumed was the head waiter who came to clear our plates he asked about the food, we told him the truth that it was the worst food we have eaten in the bold in 12 years, i asked if the head chef was off work that day he lied and said no, his reply to our compaint was that we should have complained about the food before we had EATEN IT, i have worked in the food industry for 20 years and this man was totally ignorant to our complaint, his attitude was tough luck nothing we can do about it and goodbye, so after 12 years it appears that we have eaten our last meal in the bold, sad it was our main reason for visiting southport, we had been at work since 4.30 that morning and we were both very very hungry, that is why i finished the cold chips and peas but left half of the cod and my wife ate even less

Very popular restaurant both at lunchtime and in the evening. Booking is recommended at weekends as it can be very busy. Excellent menu choice and quality of food. Very clean, pleasant staff and well presented. Well stocked bar and reasonable prices. Limited parking available - on street parking nearby (pay and display).
