The Black Lion

Celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary by having a meal at the Black Lion whilst staying in Long Melford Very good service from Holly who was friendly & very efficient throughout the evening. Food was superb, & the menu certainly has something for everyone & just that little bit different. Would definitely recommend a visit for a meal, & from what we saw if looking to stay in the area worth checking out the rooms.

Just had a superb Sunday lunch at the Black Lion, the food exceed all our expectations, the decor was just beautiful, and the service was exceptional. We had our very first date here 7 years ago, and this was our first visit since then. It was just as good as all those years ago. Highly recommend this place for some quality food and a beautiful location.

I actually met my husband working here in 2000 so it's a special place for us. It's a beautiful place, recently refurbished and super dog friendly. Actually above and beyond dog friendly. Great food. Great atmosphere, great service. Can't wait to go back

A little bit pricey but if you've got the money I couldn't recommend it more! incredible service, the dining experience was out of this world, especially for my expectations. truly a 5* experience. my only quarrel was with my room in particular being a bit small and lacking for a five star hotel

Had Sunday lunch for Mother's Day. Staff very friendly and welcoming, and the food was amazing. Had halibut and seafood bisque, with samphire and fennel. Then rhubarb and blood orange trifle. Was a really nice touch in that the mums got to choose a card for a free Mother's Day gift (I got a glass of wine!).

Dinner for 3 on a Friday night. The dinning room is lovely, bright airy, large window, s lovely wooden floors and sturdy table. The service was friendly and welcoming from the minute we stepped through the door, young team of confident and enthusiastic waiting & bar staff. The menu was local, seasonal modern British with vegan options for all three courses.

The food was, without exception delicious. Perfectly cooked & presented. We live in central London & eat out a lot. We all agreed that this was one of the best meals out we have had in a long time, and very good value for money.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel, beautiful location in the quaint village of Long Melford with plenty to see and do. Service was exemplary and both dinner and breakfast were delicious!

My husband & I went here for lunch & it was absolutely fabulous. The food was delicious, my fish was cooked to perfection & my husbands pork melted in his mouth. Good wine list, nice cocktails, lovely ambience & decor. Big shout out to Michael, the manager, super friendly & great ambassador for The Black Lion & the Chestnut group, very knowledgeable about the other establishments in the chain. Also, very important to us, it is super dog friendly! Highly recommend.
